I would say all of the above that involve noise or smell. My worst personal experience is a gum snapper. It used to be so bad, that now every time I see someone chewing gum, I just want to smack 'em! Trish, I just love your solution!!

I sit in an open space and everyone knows I am on Weight Watchers (most of the time Anyway, there is one guy whose girlfriend is also on Weight Watchers. Anytime I am eating at my desk, he comes over to see what I am eating and asks me how many points it is. I have dubbed him the Diet Police. That is my biggest pet peeve at work. It drives me totally crazy. Another one is when I am on the phone and people stand at my desk waiting for me to get off. I turn my back and ignore them until they get the hint (unless of course it is my boss).

scarily enough - my brother told me (and he's right) that cracking pistachios sounds JUST LIKE nail clipping...so I now crack all my pistachios BEFORE I come into work!

I've heard the drum playing on the desk, chewing loudly, loud personal phone conversations etc... Luckily I'm not in my cube that much.
What also bothers me is when a couple of co-workers make their sometimes daily rounds to talk they don't know when to stop talking and then I'm trapped like a rat inside my cube. Man! That drives me nuts.

But look at the brightside...at least we are all working. I suppose it could be worse.

I had this girl next to me that had this "nervous" habit. She would cough and clear her throat ALL day long! People from the other end of the floor would scream, "get some halls!" She was clueless, and oh so annoying!

you should meet the genius that set one of our microwaves on fire - making popcorn.

s/he (the culprit was never found) apparently set the microwave for 60 minutes, instead of 6 minutes and walked away.

did s/he forget about the popcorn? did s/he not see the button labeled POPCORN right there on the key pad?

sucker went up in flames and we had to evacuate the floor. smelled like burnt popcorn for days.

I don't mind hearing people blow their nose, at least they're clearing it out. What I can't stand is the ones that snort or snerk it back in!

I worked with a boss who did that 9 months out of the year. He didn't even get the hints when I put a box of kleenex on his desk!
