The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

I have been watching this guy and his chewy cookie. I kept watching because everytime I would look away it seemed that out of the corner of my eye I could see him take another bite. He doesn't. Or does he? :rotfl2:

I'm laughing because I did the exact same thing! I watched him for a while and decided that he just chews. Then when I looked away I thought I saw him take a bite. :rotfl:

:eek: no medal???? :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Not unless you want to make one yourself.

It has been put on the list. :thumbsup2

:woohoo:

I like your philosophy. My kids aren't as adventurous as I'd like, but I haven't given up. I do allow them (although it really annoys me) to order chicken fingers pretty much wherever we go - but when at home they have to eat whatever I'm cooking. I don't do the short-order cook thing, making special meals for picky eaters.

Oh yeah -- no separate special meals for picky eaters here. Poor James doesn't like squash and we've made him "try it" probably 50 times. I think he's well past his 10 or 15 tries for a new taste to grow on him, but I'm not going to point it out for him. :rotfl2:

My parents are also not adventurous, which is why I had to nix Boma from the mix this year. Its probably my favorite meal on property, but I didn't think it'd go over well with them.

It's important for everybody to enjoy themselves, so you did the right thing in steering to something else that they'd enjoy more. (Of course if you'd have played it up in your PowerPoint presentation maybe they would have asked to go there. :rotfl2: )

By the way, will there be no trip report from that trip? :confused3 I was looking forward to it!

I think I've had each and every soup in your picture! Oh, and a nice pinot would go well with zebra domes, I think. Or - the obvious: Kahlua and coffee!

Yes, I'd skip the wine and go with Kahlua and coffee. A no brainer!

$2.95 for a pint of milk??? :scared1: Wow. I had always figured all the resorts had the same price on the goods like that...apparently not!

I cannot believe how much soup you ate. :lmao: But, I can see why. I've only eaten at Boma once and I LOVED that carrot ginger soup! It's the only think I remember eating from my meal there...which was actually my first Disney TS ever now that I think about it! Kinda cool.

Hey Great Biscuit! You won't be disappointed. Boma is one of the best restaurants in WDW. IMHO, of course. ;)
Hey Hucifer! How's it trucking?

Great! But short list of what...you hinted at an announcement a while back, but I think we've yet to hear what Biscuit has baking. :rolleyes1
Nothing exciting I'm afraid. There was a strong possibility of a DLR trip in the works. Now it's not looking likely, so I'm back to planning for 2012.

My goodness, Glenn, you are a soup-eating machine.

I love soup. Yet another reason to give Boma a try, despite its buffet status!

I thought so too. I guess not too many people comparison-shop among the resorts.

I think they should have a soup-only option. :)

I was all set to say that Boma was our first TS, but then I remembered that we also went to Mama Melrose's on that trip, and I'm not sure which was first...and then I remembered that Judy and I ate at Coral Reef during a day-trip to Epcot way back before kids, so that's probably my first TS restaurant.

Oh well. I know the feeling -- we're not planning on going back until 2012 either.

Even I was surprised at the number of soups that appeared in this installment.

This inspired me to get out my 2004 passporter with the notes about my first WDW trip:

Day 1: arrived at WDW at noon, bus to AK (lunch at Flame Tree), inspect huge building site for Everest (and other park touring), dinner at Boma

So, it was my first ever TS restaurant at WDW as well! :goodvibes

We also had lunch at 50's PTC, dinner at Le Cellier (yes, it was hyped on the internet even then!), dinner at Ohana. 4.5 days in the parks... We payed $1293.99 for a package with 5 nights at POR and length-of-stay tickets (for 4 nights, i.e. 5 days) to the parks. Today the same package would be $1,567.16. That's a 21.1% increase in 7 years while according to the US Inflation calculator it should have only risen 15.8%.

Oh well. I know the feeling -- we're not planning on going back until 2012 either.

:sad2: No 2011 TR... I hope this one has still a few days left?

Do you have any plans yet on when your trip will be in 2012? The same timeframe as 2010?

Hi Glenn,
I found your TR from one of the many people that have recommended it (All7ofUs may be the appropriate person, thanks Liesa!) and I have to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. You have a great sense of humor and your family seems to love Disney as much as mine does (that's a common theme here on the boards, huh?:lmao:). I love that you have stayed at Kidani because my DH, daughter and I are going to stay there for the first time in October, we're soooo excited!!:hyper: If you'd allow me, I might PM you and ask a couple of questions?

Thank you for writing your TR and doing such an awesome job!:thumbsup2 It really helps to pass the time until our next trip.:goodvibes

YIKES! :scared1: Somehow I fell off the track on your TR. The last time I read you were visiting with other DIS'ers in the lounge. (sigh).

I have quickly caught up, and as usual - THOROUGHLY enjoyed all your posts.

First, your Austrian Bistro. My paternal grandmother was born in Austria, and raised later in Czechoslovakia (as my paternal grandfather). Anyway, she was one heck of a cook and made sauerkraut that looked very much like what you had at the bistro. (I too have made her recipe' that my Mom handed down to me.) The difference is, it is made with caraway, bacon and the grease, and the thickening agent is flour. This gives the creamy texture and the lessening of the sour taste normally found in regular sauerkraut. YUM! I also make her dumplings, which are made from yeast and pieces of bread soaked in milk and take all day to make. You end up having to cut them into pieces with twine before boiling. They are soooo tender.

Second, soup! soup! soup! LOL Wow, that was a lot of soup. But I can see why you'd have to try them all. They looked wonderful. We have ADR's for Boma's dinner buffet next week (NEXT WEEK??? OH MY), and your critique has me quite excited. :cheer2:

I think you need to look into a second career as a travel reporter. Your mix of facts with fun and an upbeat personality - you could be a male Samantha Brown! :happytv:

As always, thanks for "great posts" and looking forward to reading more. :surfweb:

i think i found someone who could hold there own with me eating soup at olive garden.

in the past i have been known to say no thanks on the desert, but please how about another bowl of soup.:thumbsup2

Inspirational? Wow! (But the credit goes to Brook, she started this train of thought.)

Day 1: arrived at WDW at noon, bus to AK (lunch at Flame Tree), inspect huge building site for Everest (and other park touring), dinner at Boma

That's intesting that Boma was both your and Brook's first ever TS restaurant. All others must pale in comparison. j/k.

We also had lunch at 50's PTC, dinner at Le Cellier (yes, it was hyped on the internet even then!), dinner at Ohana. 4.5 days in the parks... That's a 21.1% increase in 7 years while according to the US Inflation calculator it should have only risen 15.8%.

So...alongside the "free dining" and other packages, Disney has slipped-in some hefty increases, after the packages are discontinued. Maybe DVC will turn out to be an okay financial decision (for you and me both).

:sad2: No 2011 TR... I hope this one has still a few days left?

Correct, no 2011 TR. Yes, I still have 2 park days and a travel day. I think I'll have to open another thread before it's all said and done.

Do you have any plans yet on when your trip will be in 2012? The same timeframe as 2010?

Judy and I haven't talked about it yet, but right now I'm thinking that it will be around the same time as 2010 -- probably the last week in June. We have to make sure to allow a cushion for any snow days that may occur and push the end of the school year further than expected.

By the way, I like your shiny new title! :thumbsup2

How nice to look in here and find a new reader! :welcome: dekkerdisneydreamer. Sheresa the bouncing Tigger, I take it from your signature? I've seen you posting on Liesa's thread and probably some others...I'm very happy that you've joined in here!

Believe me, you should be sooo excited because you are going to love Kidani! October is probably a great time to visit -- the crowds will be low and it should still be warm enough to enjoy the pools.

Absolutely, PM away!

My pleasure. Thanks for letting me know that you're enjoying it.

You had me thinking that you were waaay back there. You only had a couple of chapters to catch up on -- that's not too bad.

My mother makes her own sauerkraut too, but it's very similar to what you can buy in the grocery store. ie. "sour" sauerkraut. She didn't make any this year though, and apologized that we'd have to buy sauerkraut for our New Year's Day feast this year.

Oh my gosh...next week?! I'm insanely jealous right now. Come back and report on how you loved it. I mean, what you thought of it.

I think you need to look into a second career as a travel reporter. Your mix of facts with fun and an upbeat personality - you could be a male Samantha Brown! :happytv:

There's another person I'm insanely jealous of: Samantha Brown. I'd love to have her job. Well, thank you for the nice compliments. :)

Maybe...I know I can't keep up with you on milkshakes at WCC.

I tried the "never ending pasta bowl" (that's at Olive Garden right?) when they first came out with it. Those geniuses must laugh all the way to the bank every time anyone orders that, because ONE BOWL of their pasta fills me up. :sad2:

How in the world did you eat all that soup & then eat more?????

The food did look great!

well this is true, about the pasta, but, a little tip, you dont have to finish the first bowl.
:thumbsup2

the waitress even tells us that, they say just eat what yo uwant then ask for a refill, normally ours even lets us take home what we dont finish, cause they know you cant finish it all, and want to try a few different ones.

Why, you're so very welcome!! Fun for all!!

Thanks for sending readers my way. :)

I did not know that!

You are the king of all-you-can-eat! :worship:

 I have been MIA but am semi-caught up. Love Boma more than life itself well not really but it sounds good.

I have to say that Judy is such a good sport when meeting your *DIS internet friends*- that's the term DH used when he'd meet new folks. We lucked out with Jenna and Nate and after some previous meets, not DISers, Michael isn't super hip on meeting any more. I try to tell him the DIS is full of normal people like me who just happen to love Disney. :grouphug:

ETA: Top o the page! :woohoo:

I know, I should have featured Boma more prominently. Ultimately, I knew they wouldn't love it (although, like all Disney buffets, they could have found enough that they did like to fill up on).

I really did mean to do a trip report, but things were so busy when I got back that I couldn't even stay caught up on others reports. I'd still like to do one - think it's too late? Maybe I could do one in conjunction with a PTR for our little trip in February.

Yeah, she is. Even though she's not on the boards she's heard about many of you. :goodvibes I just have to remember not to say: "they're normal people, just like me" because then I lose my credibility.

Heck no, it's not too late! I know a lot of people on here would sign-on to a Rebecca-Booty report. One as part of a PTR would work just fine. :thumbsup2

What's this I hear no trip to WDW this year for Glenn?

That's right Jenbear. 2011 will be a year without WDW. But, that means lotsa DVC points in 2012. :cool1:
