The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

Smartie pants! It's all good. Goes to show how much you're paying attention though. I'll have to be more careful next time :rolleyes1

Yup Liessa LOVES to point out our mistakes !!!:lmao::lmao:She and Marv have a field day with Dan and me !!! The best ****oo I ever saw was when another famous Disser was referring to someone's DOG and accidentely put in an "N" :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:About 10 pages of mirth followed that!!!!:lmao::lmao:

Hi there Glen - Happy New Year to you and your family

Again with the holidays, I needed to catch up on your TR.

I LOVED Finding Nemo the Musical. This was the first time I saw it (we went to Disney in Nov/Dec 2010). We have never been able to get the Lion on the safari ride either (or I should say my husband because he takes the pictures on the safari ride) and our last ride he was standing up. I was so happy.

MMMMmmmmmm doughnuts....
HomerDrool.png

Hey! That's my line! :lmao::rotfl2:

They also liked our gift shop better than the one at the Grand Floridian -- they bought a ½ gallon of milk for $2.95, which is what they had been paying for a pint over there.
I KNEW it! I just knew the prices I paid when held captive at Kidani during the Bee Sting Incident were lower than what I'm used to at WDW! I wonder now if that's the case everywhere for DVC vs. regular resorts...

I. Should. NOT. Have. Read. This. Right. Before. Lunch. :faint: Gosh, I miss the food at Boma! It's become such a huge waste of money for us as the price has escalated (and we're just not big eaters), but I sure do miss the eats. :sad1:

DUDE!

I think my stomach just tried to digest itself.

HOLY COW that loooked good!

I'm officially moving Boma to the short list.

Back in the suite, while I was waiting for everyone to get ready I had to take another giraffe picture, since this one was demonstrating what they would do if somebody yelled “duck!”
Why, is this his best duck imitation?

We met L, B2, and family in the waiting area outside of Boma and I took a picture of the restaurant that already had me salivating.
That's a pretty picture.

Apparently, the only thing I was focused on right then was shoveling soup into my piehole.
Let me get this straight. You're a drooling, soup-slurping machine who is apparently so tunnel-visioned that your only focus is on the food in front of you. Is there any chance you ever ate with these people again?

I eventually got my first “real” plate of food and somehow another soup. I’m not sure what I have on the plate other than couscous in the upper right, and fufu in the lower right.
Holy cow! You had room for FOOD? After all that soup? And more soup to boot???

Being done with the soups,
Are you sure?

it was finally time to hit the meat station of the buffet.
Of course it was.

But guess what…
You exploded before you got back to your table?

when I returned, Abdel had brought out some carrot ginger soup that the chef had made especially for us!
And you politely declined because your innards were now outtards?

What is this, my sixth or seventh bowl of soup?
Frankly, I lost count after 14.

They’d gone to Typhoon Lagoon with the passes they’d received from PChef, but they forgot one of their bags in their hotel room. The missing bag contained the swimsuit of their youngest daughter. L looked for a replacement in the Typhoon Lagoon gift shop but didn’t find anything suitable (pun intended), so B2 took a bus back to the Grand Floridian to retrieve the bag. The poor guy spent three hours on the buses, and forgot to take a cell phone with him so couldn’t give them an update on where he was. When he finally returned, he rode three rides before the afternoon storms hit and closed the park. Then, before exiting the park he thought he’d treat himself to a caramel sundae since he’s a big caramel fan. He got in a really long line and when he finally got to the window to order, they were out of caramel. So, they’d had one of “those” days at WDW.
This is where a rental car would come in handy. Yikes!

I wanted to sample some items from the salads area.
You mean you haven't exploded yet?

I finally decided to end the meal and took a trip to retrieve some dessert items.
I would rip on your for getting more food, but since this is dessert, it's perfectly okay.

I took a picture of B2, L, and family. I’ve blurred the girls’ faces since I never exactly mentioned that these might end up on the internet.
I thought that was how you were seeing them after eating all that soup.

He was telling stories and giving the impression that he had the world all figured out, and somehow he had her rapt attention.
He's a fast learner, your boy.

DUDE!

I think my stomach just tried to digest itself.

HOLY COW that loooked good!

I'm officially moving Boma to the short list.

Hey Great Biscuit! You won't be disappointed. Boma is one of the best restaurants in WDW. IMHO, of course. ;)

Just catching up...

Never eaten at Boma before, but it sounds like it's worth the trip! Is there enough on the menu for boring lame-o non-adventurous American meat-and-potatoes eaters? Not that there's anyone here like that. :rolleyes1

I think so. Of course, you don't want to pay buffet prices if everyone's just going to eat chicken tenders (which is what L's youngest daughter did, much to L's chagrin...I forgot to mention), so hopefully there aren't too many people in your party who are reluctant to try some new things. But the meat station isn't very "exotic" with prime rib being carved on the spot and lots of other items to choose from. There are so many things on the buffet, so I'd encourage them (it is "them" right, as in "not you"?) to try small amounts and go back for the things they like.

You saw most of the menu from my various plates of food, but here's the menu per allears.net --> Boma on allears.net

Love that lobby at AKL. What a stunning building! I could stare at that place for hours.

Just another reason there are signs in the room reminding guests to close their drapes.

And Abdel was clearly a winner as a server. Hopefully he made up for your friend's lousy day at TL. Ugh!

I think so! We had a really nice meal and everyone left happy...and full.

The update of Boma looks great. We've never eaten dinner there, but we've been for breakfast on our last two visits. How great of the chefs to go out of their way in making you the soup you so wanted.

Yes, you've got to try it for dinner sometime. (And I might have to get there for breakfast once too.)

Great group shot too.

Thank you!

That's okay. Just make it up as you go along.

I wouldn't be surprised if I got accused of that, but I don't have that great of an imagination, so I only write exactly what happened.

There's alcohol in those???

Yes. Some kahlua, I believe.

Oh my gosh! I am in love with that smiley!

I found it to respond to your comment, but now that I know that you like it so much I'm putting it in my handy dandy file for future reference.

Disney buffet breakfast are definitely for the experience, not the food. I mean it's all pretty much the same. I totally agree with not eating a lot for breakfast so most of the time it's not worth the money. But I just can't pass up giving a big bear hug to Pooh bear!

Aw.

I dunno... the funky pasta salad kind of turned me off

That was one of the best things!!

MMMMmmmmmm doughnuts....
HomerDrool.png

That's what I was thinking of, but didn't bother to go looking for it. Thanks!

Yup Liessa LOVES to point out our mistakes !!!:lmao::lmao:She and Marv have a field day with Dan and me !!! I remember the post you're talking about! And I know exactly which famous DISer that was. Actually, I think I saw the error before anyone jumped on it, but I was new to the boards and didn't want to look like a total reprobate (yet), so left it alone until someone else pointed it out.

I love it when the boards' profanity filter locks-in on an innocent word. I think you meant "boo-boo".

Hi there Glen - Happy New Year to you and your family

Again with the holidays, I needed to catch up on your TR.

Thanks Laura, Happy New Year to you also.

At first, I thought you meant that your husband stood up to get a good picture. :rotfl2: And I was thinking, "I'm surprised he didn't get yelled at by the driver." Okay, in re-reading, I think I'm on the right track now...the lion was standing up. Gotcha.

Glad you liked Nemo too.

Hey! That's my line! :lmao::rotfl2:

You just need to put "®" in all of your posts.

I KNEW it! I just knew the prices I paid when held captive at Kidani during the Bee Sting Incident were lower than what I'm used to at WDW! I wonder now if that's the case everywhere for DVC vs. regular resorts...

I'm not sure if it's a DVC-thing or if they just figure the people at "The Red Roof Inn" (as Capt. Oblivious calls it) can afford it.

I. Should. NOT. Have. Read. This. Right. Before. Lunch. :faint: Gosh, I miss the food at Boma! It's become such a huge waste of money for us as the price has escalated (and we're just not big eaters), but I sure do miss the eats. :sad1:

DISing can be dangerous right before lunch.
Drooling.gif

I try to go to Boma good and hungry.

DUDE!

I think my stomach just tried to digest itself.

:rotfl2: That sounds dangerous...like it'd create a black hole in the fabric of the universe or something.

HOLY COW that loooked good!

I'm officially moving Boma to the short list.

Great! But short list of what...you hinted at an announcement a while back, but I think we've yet to hear what Biscuit has baking. :rolleyes1

!

Your goofs, or your goofiness?? love you, Rosie!
They are interchangeable !!!!:lmao::lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao: Oh my gosh!!! You take the cake on that one Rosie! And you even got the DIS to censor you. Tsk tsk

Sorry I just couldn't resist on that one :teeth:

It was NOT me who did it !!!:sad2:I wood have loved to take credit for that !!:lmao:It is just sooooo Rosie !!!!:rotfl2:
As for the censoring all I said was the slang for a mistake" boo boo "!! But knowing me I forgot a space :rolleyes1:rotfl2::rotfl2:Let's see if this is censored !!!!

Oh with all the grammatical corrections spewing form Liessa's mouth( laptop) I forgot to reply to Glenn's Boma update !!!

I love Boma Breakfast but the price just went up like $8 , I used to pay oop !! I did try the supper once and didn't care for many of the items although the soup I had was delicious !!( spelled correct Liessa?}:lmao:The Hummus was however delightful !!and there were several items I really enjoyed !! Now the desserts were great especially the Zebra Domes !!!:banana:I may have to give it another try on my next solo trip!! The family would definately not like the Dinner buffet !!:scared1:

Why, is this his best duck imitation?

Yes. He does a pretty mean Nixon too, but that's so seven administrations ago.

Let me get this straight. You're a drooling, soup-slurping machine who is apparently so tunnel-visioned that your only focus is on the food in front of you. Is there any chance you ever ate with these people again?

Come to think of it, I haven't eaten with them since. Do you think that's a coincidence?

Holy cow! You had room for FOOD? After all that soup? And more soup to boot???

Samples. I just had samples. Of everything.

Are you sure?

Not so much.

You exploded before you got back to your table?

And you politely declined because your innards were now outtards?

That's one possible scenario.

You mean you haven't exploded yet?

No, and I hadn't even worn "stretchy pants". Maybe that was a good thing?

I would rip on your for getting more food, but since this is dessert, it's perfectly okay.

Whew! I was really getting ripped on there for a while.

I thought that was how you were seeing them after eating all that soup.

I was in a carrot/ginger haze.

He's a fast learner, your boy.

I don't know where he gets it.

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao: Oh my gosh!!! You take the cake on that one Rosie! And you even got the DIS to censor you. Tsk tsk

Too bad they censored the wrong thing.

Hey Great Biscuit! You won't be disappointed. Boma is one of the best restaurants in WDW. IMHO, of course. ;)

They just made my table a soup or two...I read in one of your reports that they whipped you up a whole special vegetarian, tofu-lovin' meal! I don't think that chef is at Boma anymore though, right?

It was NOT me who did it !!!:sad2:I wood have loved to take credit for that !!:lmao:It is just sooooo Rosie !!!!:rotfl2:
As for the censoring all I said was the slang for a mistake" boo boo "!! But knowing me I forgot a space :rolleyes1:rotfl2::rotfl2:Let's see if this is censored !!!!

Looks like you made it through the censor this time.

I love Boma Breakfast but the price just went up like $8 , I used to pay oop !! Yes, alas, Disney vacations are not the inexpensive little jaunts they used to be.

I wouldn't be surprised if I got accused of that, but I don't have that great of an imagination, so I only write exactly what happened.

Yup, that's me too!

Yes. Some kahlua, I believe.

Wow. That just made the zebra domes THAT much better.

I found it to respond to your comment, but now that I know that you like it so much I'm putting it in my handy dandy file for future reference.

Awesome! I should really make a file like that for myself. It would come in so handy!

That was one of the best things!!

I'm sure it tasted better than it looked.....

That's what I was thinking of, but didn't bother to go looking for it. Thanks!

Anytime.

I remember the post you're talking about! And I know exactly which famous DISer that was. Actually, I think I saw the error before anyone jumped on it, but I was new to the boards and didn't want to look like a total reprobate (yet), so left it alone until someone else pointed it out.

What's this? Glenn was being modest?! :rotfl:

I love it when the boards' profanity filter locks-in on an innocent word. I think you meant "boo-boo".

:rotfl: I can just imagine Glenn speaking this to Rosie on how to pronounce it "boo-BOO" :rotfl:

It was NOT me who did it !!!:sad2:I wood have loved to take credit for that !!:lmao:It is just sooooo Rosie !!!!:rotfl2:
As for the censoring all I said was the slang for a mistake" boo boo "!! But knowing me I forgot a space :rolleyes1:rotfl2::rotfl2:Let's see if this is censored !!!!

:lmao: Looks like you made it this time Rosie

Yes, alas, Disney vacations are not the inexpensive little jaunts they used to be.

You know, this made me think wether Disney is trying to recoup some of the money they must be loosing by heavily discounting the hotel rooms by making the food prices higher? Once people are lured there by the "cheap" rooms, they are a captive audience? And if the economy picks up and the room discounts disappear...

And even though I never expected the kitchenette in the DVC studio was going to change my way of vacationing at WDW, I think it really will have an effect. I have already started to research for a travel water kettle in order to make my own tea in the studio and can very much see me having breakfast in the room.

Come to think of it, I haven't eaten with them since. Do you think that's a coincidence?
No.

Samples. I just had samples. Of everything.
I'd say.

They just made my table a soup or two...I read in one of your reports that they whipped you up a whole special vegetarian, tofu-lovin' meal! I don't think that chef is at Boma anymore though, right?
That amazing Chef T hasn't been in Boma for years, they told me. OMG, he turned a delicious meal into an amazing dining experience.

I see that I am too late to humbly point out that boo-boo has to be hyphenated. I learned that the hard way about a year ago. :rotfl2:

Wow. That just made the zebra domes THAT much better.

We let the kids have them before we realized. Oh well, I don't think there's that much in 'em.

I'm sure it tasted better than it looked.....

Must have.

What's this? Glenn was being modest?! :rotfl:

There's a first!

:rotfl: I can just imagine Glenn speaking this to Rosie on how to pronounce it "boo-BOO" :rotfl:

"Boo hyphen Boo"

You know, this made me think wether Disney is trying to recoup some of the money they must be loosing by heavily discounting the hotel rooms by making the food prices higher? Once people are lured there by the "cheap" rooms, they are a captive audience? And if the economy picks up and the room discounts disappear...

You bet, that's the way they do it. Sneak some increases in, but never ever back them down.

And even though I never expected the kitchenette in the DVC studio was going to change my way of vacationing at WDW, I think it really will have an effect. I have already started to research for a travel water kettle in order to make my own tea in the studio and can very much see me having breakfast in the room.

The kitchenette was another big selling-point of DVC for us. Unfortunately, now I've figured out that the restaurants are probably my favorite thing about WDW. Oh well, we'll still do breakfasts in the suite and probably carry some sandwiches to the parks on occasion.

That amazing Chef T hasn't been in Boma for years, they told me. OMG, he turned a delicious meal into an amazing dining experience.

That's a bummer. Do you know where he ended up? Another Disney restaurant?

I see that I am too late to humbly point out that boo-boo has to be hyphenated. I learned that the hard way about a year ago. :rotfl2:

The lessons do stick that way.

We've stressed from early-on that they needed to try new things whether it's at home or in restaurants. Somewhere I heard that you need to try a new food like 10 or 15 times before you get used to it and can decide whether you like it or not, so that's been our mantra (regardless of whether it's true or not :rotfl: but I think that it probably is). We also try to go to a few ethnic restaurants (Mexican, Chinese, Indian, Korean, Japanese, etc.), not a lot, but maybe a couple of times a year, which is waaay different than the way both Judy and I grew up. We almost never went out to eat when I was growing up, and when we did it was steak or fish. Both Judy and I didn't branch out until we were adults, but discovered that we had missed out on a lot of neat experiences and flavors. I've been working on stretching my parents (my dad's the issue really) sense of adventure when they visit too. ;)

I like your philosophy. My kids aren't as adventurous as I'd like, but I haven't given up. I do allow them (although it really annoys me) to order chicken fingers pretty much wherever we go - but when at home they have to eat whatever I'm cooking. I don't do the short-order cook thing, making special meals for picky eaters.

My parents are also not adventurous, which is why I had to nix Boma from the mix this year. Its probably my favorite meal on property, but I didn't think it'd go over well with them.

I think I've had each and every soup in your picture! Oh, and a nice pinot would go well with zebra domes, I think. Or - the obvious: Kahlua and coffee!
