The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

She was reflected on her and Marlene’s auditions and she said, “I love my sister”. Now that's what it's all about!

Thanks Trib! Ooo, I see a typo in your quote. Must fix.

Go ahead, take all the time you need.

Aw, your girls are so sweet! If they were on AI, I'd vote for them!

Thanks Kelly. You should probably hear them sing first, but we never said we were impartial, did we?

hey were you cheating and checking on my answers i guess that stupid make it white type doesnt work.
I always checked your answers first, then said the opposite! ;)
I can always count on you Marvin. You get all the points for this round, no matter what excuse Faunt may try to push through in a few moments.
:yay:
darn it marv, i cant win anything around here.
:sad2:
Dan, Dan, Dan, if it hadn't been me, it would have just been one of Glenn's Harem! YOu would have been DQ'ed on some technical violation! :rolleyes1
sure i was you need to factor in the answer when i sent it to you and that i was the only one who posted in the actual thread that i sent it to you thus i win by default.
The first responder was in a different time zone, so she had a few hours on you.
Actually Glenn, on the HM contest question, I think (no comment) it would only be fair to give points to everyone who gets it correct, since it required a PM to prove they found it. You could give the first person two points, and everyone else one point!
Marv told me, "whatever you do, don't let Dan win."
Dan, my good buddy, you know me well enough to know I would NEVER...........oh crap, that ain't got a chance of working does it???? :rolleyes1
You're giving spelling lessons now?
sertanly amm, im the bestes speler in thess dem thier prts.
If I didn't know you better, I would think you were trying to misspell all those words on purpose!
actually his chapters would go like this.

Great update! Yuck to the dirty bathroom. I wonder if it a forgotten one because most are clean but usually long lines.

Good thing you found your sunglasses. Two years ago I bought a new car and I always kept my prescription sunglasses on the visor. Well I didn't think about it when cleaning out the car. A few weeks later I saw that my new car had a glass case in it and thought that is great. Then I remembered that no one took my sunglasses and the car was long gone.

Glad your daughters had a good AI experience. They will always have the memories.

/
Your daughters are very brave. I would never have had the courage to try out. My youngest really wants to try out. Yes, she believes she's the next AI.

It's very touching how supportive they are for each other. I really enjoyed reading this from their point of view.

Shame on you for betting James again.

What a great great update!

They will always have this memory together, that's just theirs.

I am, a bit. :lmao: at the "young, long legs" comment!

Oh to be their age.

Good lord.

Glenn has a harem? Don't tell Judy.

See, this is why I'm not playing the game...too many points to miss, reinvent, create out of thing air (or imagined sightings). Plus it is WAY more fun to watch all the dudes battle this one out.

Dan, Dan, Dan, if it hadn't been me, it would have just been one of Glenn's Harem! YOu would have been DQ'ed on some technical violation! :rolleyes1

Yeah, like not having the right answer.

chapter 17. tried picking up a chick at the p chef private DHS party and lost her once my dad said can i take your picture for my TR

That could happen! :rotfl2:

 Why would I need to hear them sing?? :confused3

Good point!

Great update! Yuck to the dirty bathroom. I wonder if it a forgotten one because most are clean but usually long lines.

You're right, most are usually clean. Disney usually does a good job with that.

Oh, major bummer.

Glad your daughters had a good AI experience. They will always have the memories.

You're right...they'll remember it for a long time.

She should go for it! I wish her well.

It's very touching how supportive they are for each other. I really enjoyed reading this from their point of view.

Thanks. I thought it would be neat to hear it from their perspective, like I did, rather than have me relate a story that I wasn't even there for.

Shame on you for betting James again.

:teeth:

What a great great update!

They will always have this memory together, that's just theirs.

I am, a bit. :lmao: at the "young, long legs" comment!

Oh to be their age.

Thanks Cynthia!

Yeah, what was the "young, long legs" comment about? Do you think she was commenting on her travel companions who usually slow her down?

Good lord.

Glenn has a harem? Don't tell Judy.

I didn't know it either.

Hey Glenn...I've been following along, just haven't piped in (so uncharacteristic of me :rotfl2:). Anyways....the trip report is still great! So was the view of the PSU game last week! Let's hope today isn't a complete massacre! WE ARE......

You and Judy must be doing something right because your teen daughters get along! :rotfl:

Great update - glad the girls had a good experience!! Too bad they didn't make the show, but it does take a LOT to even audition.

When you said you wanted to try the slide at the Dig Site, for some reason I pictured the kiddy playground, the Boneyard at AK in my head, and pictured you going down one of the tube slides. Then I realized you meant the water slide! :headache: :rolleyes1

Awesome Katharina! That picture looks soooo gooood!

Okay, readers....if anyone makes this, we need you to post a picture of it.

My SIL didn't make that, but she DID make the same one they serve at Biergarten (we all loved it so much, she asked for the recipe!). It is a huge process and part of it has to sit overnight. It was amazing though...sooooooo good.

Great Update Glen and girls !!!!See what happens when I come home exhausted and go to bed !!!I miss all the updates, contests and 4 pages !!!:rotfl2:

The girls (mine) we in a Cheerleading comp last night !!Didn't place :sad2:and were extremely tearful!!!:sad2:We told them they did good , which they did , but it was the first year they hadn't placed at this competition soooo it was a major dissappointment !!!

Thank you! I loved the game last week. The freshman quarterback looked pretty good, I hope he can be as poised in the face of the Tide. And our kicker -- 3 for 3 from 43+ yards (one from 49)! (We may need that if the offense sputters!) But yeah, today they're going to have their hands full.

WE ARE......

PENN STATE!

You and Judy must be doing something right because your teen daughters get along! :rotfl:

Well, in all honesty, I left out the story about when they fought over the last copy of a particular book in the airport bookstore on our trip down. So, we have our moments.

Great update - glad the girls had a good experience!! Too bad they didn't make the show, but it does take a LOT to even audition.

They had a good experience, lots of emotions, and made some memories.

When you said you wanted to try the slide at the Dig Site, for some reason I pictured the kiddy playground, the Boneyard at AK in my head, and pictured you going down one of the tube slides. Then I realized you meant the water slide! :headache: :rolleyes1

Oh yeah, I forgot about those slides. I should have been more specific!

My SIL didn't make that, but she DID make the same one they serve at Biergarten (we all loved it so much, she asked for the recipe!). It is a huge process and part of it has to sit overnight. It was amazing though...sooooooo good.

Oh man, why does it have to be such a huge process?! That dessert is amazing.

Yes, when we get Marv and Dan wound up we can add 4 pages pretty quickly. Sorry to hear that the competition was a disappointment, hopefully they learned something about sportsmanship and working towards goals. (Hey, it sounds good. I dunno.)

while my home has been invaded by a bunch of 15 yr old girls, I've been hiding in my room catching up! I'm all caught up now...way too much for me to comment on, but I know you'll survive without my witty comments and dorky pictures.

Okay, I really enjoyed the girl's creative writing skills, and there were so many lines that I really loved/cracked up over. Didn't have time earlier, but wanted to take the chance to comment on a few. I will either just highlight those in red, or add my thoughts in red where I see them.
Day 3 - Part 5

I got in the pool and asked the girls to tell me how it went. For the next 10 minutes or so, while neck-deep in water, the girls gave me the whole run-down and it went as follows. (I had the girls do these write-ups, and I edited them together so that you get the stereophonic experience that I received.)

**************************************************
Lauren

Mom had talked about the American Idol Experience at DHS the last couple days and I figured I might as well try out. What could it hurt? She had told us that the auditions were from 3-7pm and that she wasn’t sure what age you had to be to try out. Well, that day we got up and went to EPCOT for the morning. We went to Biergarten for lunch and then after that used our Fastpasses to get on test track. We went on it and while waiting to get on the ride I figured out which song I was going to sing. We had a fun time and when we got off, realized it was quarter of three. We panicked and ran all the way to the bus stop which picked us up ten or fifteen minutes later.

Marlene

First, some background knowledge is needed (she is her daddy's daughter), when my mom got the brochure about the American Idol Experience - and all the other fun stuff you can do in Disney World – it said the tryouts were from 3:00 pm – some other time I can’t remember. We thought we had to be there at 3….. not much thinking going on there huh? Also, that day, we went to Magic Kingdom for the extra magic hours, only given to the PChef. By three-o-clock my mom, me, and my sister were in line waiting for the bus that would take us to DHS.

Dad input

The tryouts were for a PChef-only American Idol experience that would be taking place on Tuesday night, during the exclusive evening that PChef would have at DHS. Okay, back to our storytellers.

Lauren

On the way to DHS, Mom got out our park passes and we prepared to run to the American Idol building. By the time the bus got there it was ten after three and we were afraid that they wouldn’t let us audition. So, Mom told us to run ahead since she would just slow us down. With our luck, the bus stopped at one of the farthest places from the entrance. Thankfully, Marlene and I have young, long legs, so it wasn’t much of a problem. I went through the “no bags” line because I only had a water bottle and quickly Marlene was through the bag check. When we got up to the entrance to put our park passes in, we found that luck really wasn’t on our side. There was a parade going on and people were crowding everywhere all over the street. I quickly made a decision and told Marlene to follow me. I started booking it through the stores which were uncharacteristically not crowded.(glennbo lines if I ever heard them) I figured everyone had gone outside to see the parade and were less interested in buying souvenirs. We soon got to the center of DHS and the parade was still going on. Plus, I had made the mistake of going on the right side of the street instead of the left. So, we had to go around the Mickey wizard hat to get to the front of the American Idol building.

Marlene

Once we were on the bus my mom told us to just get off and run (when the bus stopped) (never be in so much of a hurry you throw caution to the wind....smart girls!) and she would catch up with us. So we did. Of course, whenever you need to get somewhere fast, there’s a parade blocking your way.(that's what I've always found!) This was no exception. Instead of running through the large crowd Lauren decided to go through the stores they have lining the streets.

Lauren

We ran up to a cast member and asked her if this was where the auditions were being held and she directed us down to the corner of the building near Star Tours. We talked to the two cast members there and they said that auditions were around the corner, but they weren’t sure if they were still letting people in. This didn’t help our panic and we booked it to a man under an umbrella near a gate.(details, details....I see a budding writer in the crowd!) We asked him if this was where we were to audition and he said yes. He told us to catch our breath and asked us our ages. I told him I was sixteen and Marlene said that she was thirteen. Then he broke the news, you have to be fourteen to audition. Marlene was crushed. She started crying.(I HATE when kids get disappointed like this!) He told us to go sit in the shade until Mom came because since I was a minor, Mom had to be there with us.

Marlene

Now imagine a rectangle and it’s were the American Idol Experience building is, we ran to the left side of that rectangle and the people there told us to go to the back end, so we did. (okay, I'm right with you now) :confused3 Those people told us to go around to the other side, which is where the tryout line was supposed to be. There was no line. Worried, we ran to the man standing under an umbrella, it was very hot. The man asked our ages and told us Lauren could try out, and I could not. One thing was that Lauren needed an adult (mom) to come with her, so we went to a shaded area to sit and wait for her as I started to cry. In my defense, I was extremely tired,(been there Marlene, been there!) and singing has been a dream of mine since I can remember. It felt like my only chance had failed.

Lauren

Just then Mom strolls up (she needs some of those young, long legs maybe) and she immediately comforts Marlene and we walk up to the guy again. A man and his daughter had also arrived to audition. The man under the umbrella told us and the man and daughter how the audition process will work. The first audition is thirty seconds, a cappella. If you make it past that, then you sing two songs from a list that he gave me. Then he asked how old the man’s daughter was. They must have heard us talking because the girl looked at her dad rather than answer, he hesitated, and then said she was fourteen. I was mad because she was obviously not fourteen.(Surely they would ask for ID so somebody doesn't get through and then they find out they aren't old enough....what's with these people?) Apparently they were singing together. We walked through the gate and up the ramp to the door of the audition part of the building. They had pictures of all the American Idol winners framed in stars on the wall to our right when facing the closed doors. Soon after waiting there, a lady let us in and we watched a recorded video of Ryan Seacrest encouraging us.(say WHAAATTT?)

Marlene

No sooner did we sit down than I saw my mom coming to the rescue!(even if she WAS just strolling) Of course when she saw me she was worried that they wouldn’t let us in. After we explained the situation to her we went into the building. Inside, they show a video of Ryan Seacrest saying “good luck” and blah blah blah(now THAT sounds like the Ryan Seacrest I know!).

Lauren

Then, the lady had me go stand on a star on the floor near one of the two audition rooms. We were just kind of waiting there for the person auditioning before me to finish so that I could go. Marlene was still upset that she couldn’t try out herself when a cameraman named Frank came over. He asked Marlene if the tears were happy ones and she told him about how she was upset because she was too young to audition. He liked that she had a passion for singing and wanted to record her singing for the show the next night. She tried to calm down, but was still kind of a wreck so he told her he was going to shoot some other stuff and to be ready when he came back. We three were so excited for Marlene and we prayed that she would do well.

Marlene

They have two audition doors with judges inside to listen to tryout-ee’s (a new DISword, maybe???). While we were standing and waiting to have Lauren go into a room, a camera man named Frank saw how upset I was and said “tears of joy, right?” I answered “no” and then my mom took over by telling him how we didn’t know there was an age limit and that I was too young. Then he said “well, if you’re that passionate about singing, I have to go film some awesome footage, and when I get back I want you to be calmed down and you can sing for the camera, like I said ‘I need awesome footage’” YAY! It wasn’t my last shot! :thumbsup2

Lauren

Frank came back and recorded Marlene singing “Ice” by Lights. Then he went into the audition room. He came out and told us that he wanted the Judge to hear her just to give her advice and encouragement (an unofficial audition). So Mom and Marlene went inside and I stayed out and practiced my song. Frank asked me what songs I had picked from the list. I told him I would do “Part of Your World”. I wasn’t sure about the other one. He told me to pick one from the Rock and Roll and to have it picked when he came back.

Marlene

When he got back he gave me a mic, and found a good spot to film me in. After he heard me sing, he went into one of the tryout rooms and asked if I could have an unofficial tryout. I could, but Lauren wasn’t allowed to be there because she was going to try out for real.

Dad input

Marlene is being modest here. The way Judy told me, after she sang he said something like, “um, I think a judge needs to listen to you!” :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: for Marlene!

Marlene

I sang for the judge whose name was Justin and introduced a singer he didn’t know of yet, LIGHTS Poxleitner.(Where has this judge been, hiding his head in the sand? geesh) I sang the song “Ice” and he said many extremely complimentary things to me, like that he believes I could be a singer someday. This was very exciting. After that it was Laurens turn, I told her what he had said to me and told her good luck as we both got a little emotional, we hugged (can't buy these kinds of moments! at least not on Glenn's salary......or mine either for that matter!) and she went in.

Lauren

Soon after that Marlene came out and told me that the judge told her she could be famous some day and that her voice was really good. I told her I was proud of her and started crying. Then I went into the room to try out. The judge’s name was Justin and he was really nice. He gave me a button with my name on it. We talked about a bunch of different stuff just to get me calmed down before I sang. I told him that my favorite class this past year was Honors Algebra II.(that would calm down very few people, for sure!) And, I told him that I played flute in the band. Then I told him that I was going to sing “You’re Sixteen, You’re Beautiful and You’re Mine” by Ringo Star. He congratulated me on being the first person to ever do a tribute to Ringo since he’d been auditioning. I sang and he said that I had a beautiful soprano voice, just not what they were looking for and gave me a few pointers. He also complimented Mom (and Dad even though he wasn’t there) saying that they must be doing something right if their kids are as great as Marlene and me.(can't argue here.....and don't forget James!) Then, we left and on the way out Mom bought us ice cream.

Marlene

The whole time she was inside the room, I was outside praying that she would do well. When she got out we were both proud, sadly she didn’t make it, but it takes guts to be able to even get as far as we did and mom was so proud, that she bought us both ice cream. Of course, that whole time we had forgotten to get any pictures, but there’s always next year!(Dad's not gonna be happy about this one!!!)

Dad input

I had not heard about the ice cream until now! James and I were good and didn’t buy any junk food.Waaaaahhhhhhh

**************************************************

Okay, back to regular trip reporting writing...
I was so happy that the girls had a good experience, even though they didn't get selected to be in the competition. I was afraid that it would turn out to be a disappointment.(oh ye of little faith!) And I couldn’t believe that they forgot to take any pictures! (I knew it!)

I beat James at foosball. Again. Heh heh heh. (oh yeah, you ARE the man!) :sad2:

At one point in the evening I was on an elevator with Lauren. (Oh, I think we had to grab some shoes from the room before walking to the Dig Site.) She was reflecting on her and Marlene’s auditions and she said, “I love my sister”. Now that's what it's all about! (Yeppers!) :thumbsup2

They creative and cutthroat -- a dangerous combination, but fun to watch.
And even more fun to participate in! ;)

PENN STATE!
No, Marshall! I saw the movie! :)

Yes, when we get Marv and Dan wound up we can add 4 pages pretty quickly.
Hey, Dan and I are the real reason everyone comes here! That and the Where is Judy-do contests!!!

That was so nice that he let your daughter unofficially tryout. I would have voted for them too!

I agree your DS needs to contribute for the next chapter.

Wow, I'm really amazed at how well Marlene & Lauren handled the whole audition process! It's something I'm actually really happy didn't exist when we were kids, because I could see it having extremely high potential for ruining an entire day...disappointment at not being chosen, competition between me and my sisters, etc. etc. etc.

We just weren't as emotionally mature as your girls!
