The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

Can someone please explain the tag fairy? And I believe I missed the pic of the Hokey Pokey! :scared1: Where is that??

:lmao: :rotfl2: You're hilarious Liesa! I'm still living, don't you worry. Just had stuff to figure out. Sometimes when that "stuff" can make or break a Disney trip or a DIS meet, I avoid the DIS to refrain from making myself sadder in the event I can't do the plans I originally had. Yes, we must chat soon. I posted tentative plans on your TR.... I think? This time difference makes it difficult to be on here at the same time urgh!

We can't help it -- we worry about our DISfriends when we don't hear from them for a while.

The tag fairy is some mysterious DIS admin. person (I assume) who takes a quote of yours and puts it into your avatar. Liesa (All7ofUs) has a couple ("...so NOT into traipsing through the dark" etc.). I've said before that if they came onto our threads they wouldn't even know where to start with us....there's so much material. :faint:

Dan (FauntleroyFan07) posted the picture we were talking about. It's at the top of page 25. It's a preview of my next installment (which I haven't worked on yet. :guilty:)

Maybe if you postponed your Disney trip a day.

HA, HA, very funny.

And sometimes "stuff" sux; let me know if you want to talk. We CAN figure out a time...

I do understand about the not getting too excited until it's more for sure; my whole trip was like that for many months after I started my PTR. I remember having to put SEVERAL caveats in there about it maybe going bust. There were many nail biting moments!

I haven't seen those plans, but stuff slips by me all the time. I'll go back and check right now!

The Tag Fairy is a MYTH !!:rotfl2: How do I know cuz I have no TAGS!!:rotfl2:I mean what more could I do or say , I have POLE Danced around the World and still no Tag !!!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Of course I didn't destroy a Carrousel Horse in the process :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Too bad there's no chat (i.e. MSN, Facebook) sort of thing for the DIS. That would make life easier! Although it wouldn't give my post count such a boost ;)

Isn't it the worst feeling in the world? I'm so glad everything is has worked out for you. You've been planning your trip for HOW long now?!? It just HAS to go now! You must be so excited for it!

I haven't seen those plans, but stuff slips by me all the time. I'll go back and check right now!

Yes and you did check so all is good :hippie:

It's a big group hug thing.

I know, but you ARE in my FB list, but I never see you on. Just chatted with TK, so I know chat works- we can do that via FB if that's better :goodvibes

it's been a long road of ups and downs, and some moments of serious doubts!! But I really think this trip was meant to happen, on so many levels.

Hey Glenn! We are still on vacation and I have not had a chance to catch up yet. I'll be back at the end of next week and should be here Thur or Fri evening. Hope all is going well in DIS world!

This conversation is just one big warm fuzzy. Thanks for looking out for, and caring for one another. :)

No worries! I hope you're having a great vacation and getting some meaningful family together-time. I'll talk to you when you get back.

UGH for a headache on vacation....:headache:
Glad you got to at least visit the pool though. I am looking forward to seeing the pool in person soon. How did you guys rate the slide?
Ready to hear all about Yeehaw Bob who I . He is soooo much fun.

I thought I posted a comment after your most recent chapter. Apparently I did a hit and run :sad2: So sorry.

Glad the credit card issue turned out alright. While on our cruise, my boyfriend's number on his CC got stolen and they bought a whole bunch of things in West Virginia...when he was at work! They picked it up when he went to buy lunch that day! Amazing...

...I'm trying to remember the slide, at least well enough to give it a rating for you. I went down it only once, later in the week than the last chapter. I remember that I kind of went head over heels in the water after I hit the pool, so it must have been decent. I asked the girls for their rating and they said it was okay. They didn't like that they had to walk so far to go to the pool.

No problem. Glad you cycled-back!

Yikes that your boyfriend's credit card number was stolen. I'd say "be careful" but I don't think there's much you can do, other than check your activity online and look for any transactions that aren't not yours.

I apologize for the lack of quote/replies, but I am at least caught-up! So glad the ticket situation worked out for you. I had a moment last Thurs., trying to decide whether to upgrade our AP's to premium, get separate Disney Quest AP's or just do one-day DQ passes and figure it out later. I opted for later; I needed the home-think. ::yes::

Starting with a headache is never fun. Good thing it cleared up! :thumbsup2

I just found your TR and I love it! What a Wonderful family you have! Our family has just decided to book a Feburary trip and your TR is giving me the Pixie Dust I need to start planning and get excited! I can't wait to read more. Oh, One question how did you manage 5 people in the Coronado? Do they have a trundle bed?

Hey V how does Leo like Disney Quest ?? We plan to get the waterparks and more tickets next August as the girls really want the waterparks and Kyle I think will love DQ!!!

Even though I am a Buckeye I have to say I am enjoying your trip reports. I am glad the ticket issue was resolved positively for you. We haven't been to a waterpark for a couple of years so I am looking forward to your review. We too are debating the A/P angle as we are going in March of 11 and trying to talk our college age kids into a trip during December 11. Enjoy it now that they still are excited to go with you. Hope to see the next update soon.

Glad you're caught up V! I trust you had a good vacation?

Yes, it's nice to have a little think time on big decisions like park passes, right?

I just found your TR and I love it! What a Wonderful family you have! Our family has just decided to book a Feburary trip and your TR is giving me the Pixie Dust I need to start planning and get excited! I can't wait to read more. Oh, One question how did you manage 5 people in the Coronado? Do they have a trundle bed?

Oh, you are so nice! :welcome: overthemoon4mickey!

Your question on the sleeping arrangements is making me laugh. :rotfl: Somehow the travel people for the PChef were able to book 5 of us in the room. I don't think they're supposed to allow it, but somehow they did. I knew there was no trundle bed so we brought a sleeping bag along and my youngest, James, got to sleep in the sleeping bag laid-out between the two beds. He didn't mind, and we didn't mind being a little crowded, if we could save money by not having to get another room.

LOOOOVED it! :thumbsup2

Sounds like a positive endorsement to me! I haven't told my son about DQ yet. When he finds out about it, that's where he'll want to be, 24/7.

:welcome: Disneybuckeye! Sure, you're welcome here. We can find some common ground in Disney, right? Most people say that an annual pass is worth it once you hit around 8 park days or so. Sounds like 2011 will be a fun year for you.

Day 1 - Part 5

Before I walked over to the pool, as I described in the last chapter, I thought that I should let Dan (FauntleroyFan07) know that we had arrived, since today was our travel day. Dan and I had corresponded via the DIS prior to our trips and had arranged to meet each other at the Yeehaa Bob Jackson show at Port Orleans Riverside on this evening. So, in my text I said something like “We’re here, enjoy the luau and we’ll see you soon.” After Dan responded I realized that I needed to clarify that we were here, in the big sense, as in Orlando, not at Port Orleans. I think that I confused him a little.

Anyway, we got back from the pool, got changed, and went to the Coronado Springs bus stop at about 7pm. The show was scheduled to start at 8:30, and I wanted to get there early enough that we could get seats together for all of my family, plus Dan and Candi. At about quarter to 8 Dan and I exchanged texts again. We were just leaving Downtown Disney and they were at the Magic Kingdom waiting for a bus. Shortly after these texts, my phone received a text, but even though my phone was set on vibrate and alarm, I never felt or heard it go off. It was an important text. It said, “Do we want Riverside or French Quarter?”

Oops.

Sorry Dan.

Last year there were times when I never realized that Judy was calling me on my cell phone. She’d ask me, “where do you have your phone that you can’t feel it?” It was in my front pocket, where you’d think it would be, um, most noticeable. I don’t know what to say. Well, apparently this was another one of those times when I just missed it.

We arrived at Port Orleans Riverside at about 8, and were able to move a couple of tables together so that we could accommodate our party of 7 people. I pulled out my phone and saw the text I had missed. I texted back “Riverside!” but figured I was way too late sending that information. I got a text back from Dan that read, “Ok, we have a special ride over, VIP treatment”. So, from that I knew with the 50-50 chance they had of catching a Riverside bus, Murphy’s Law was in full-force and they had gone to French Quarter.

In the meantime, we looked at the menu and decided we’d have an “appetizer dinner”. We ordered one of each of the three appetizers they offer at the River Roost Lounge, which were nachos, boneless buffalo wings, and BBQ shrimp. I got a “Dogfish” brand beer, Judy ordered a white wine (although I don’t remember what exactly) and the kids each asked for a Shirley Temple. Our server (I forgot to write down his name) replied, “We don’t have Shirley Temple’s here.” And I started thinking, “That’s odd. They got them last year.” But he continued, “Here, we have ‘Zip-a-dee-doo-dah’s! Being Port Orleans Riverside.” Ahh yes, okay. (Whatever!)

Yeehaa Bob Jackson came out and sat at the piano to warm up. A couple of kids went to talk to him, and James and Marlene didn’t want to be outdone so they went up too.

IMG_2522.jpg

Then Dan and Candi arrived. They told us that they had had gotten on the Port Orleans French Quarter bus, and although they asked various people (the bus driver?), no one had ever heard of Yeehaa Bob or knew where his show was held. When they figured out it was at Riverside, the bus driver brought Dan and Candi over from French Quarter, even though it was outside of his normal route.

Dan and Candi said that the luau at the Polynesian was great and that they really enjoyed it. Our server came by and they ordered two Bud Lite Lime beers, which they said were really good. We offered some of the appetizers to them, but they were stuffed from their luau and encouraged us to “eat up”. So we did! I forgot to take pictures of the appetizers, but I didn’t forget to get photo evidence of our DISmeet. I asked Judy to take our picture. This first one, of Dan and I, is out of focus because my camera focuses on objects in the center and Judy didn’t know to focus it and then line up the picture.

IMG_2523.jpg

We solved our focusing problem by putting something in the center to help the camera focus -- Candi! It’s a much better picture with her in it, I’m sure you’ll agree.

IMG_2524.jpg

Yeehaa Bob walked around the room, meeting people. He chatted with Marlene and James. I love Lauren's reaction to Bob's pose with Marlene.

IMG_2525.jpg

IMG_2526.jpg

Soon Bob started the show by saying “Are you having a good time?” Everyone cheered. “Well, prepare for that to come to a screeching halt right now.” Big laugh.

I always have a hard time getting good pictures of him because it’s kind of dark in the lounge, and he won’t sit still. There’s always a blur somewhere.

IMG_2527.jpg

IMG_2528.jpg

Then he asked people, by name, to stand on their chairs. He said which ones were celebrating birthdays and such. They were all people he had talked to prior to the show. His memory was pretty impressive.

IMG_2529.jpg

Here’s Marlene getting called.

IMG_2531.jpg

Early on in the show he played “Country Roads” and asked all of us to yell out our state name in place of the West Virginia part. “…Take me home, country roads, to the place, I belong, (substitute your state)” Then he yelled out “Me too!”

He told us that as new people would come in he’d ask them where they were from and then he’d ask if anyone else was from there and then he wanted us all to yell. When we were on the receiving end of that last year, coming in late, I wasn’t sure if he’d instructed everyone to do that or if they just knew what to do. It was always good for a laugh, and we had a couple of opportunities on this night.

Here are some more blurry Bob photos.

IMG_2532.jpg

IMG_2533.jpg

IMG_2534.jpg

All the kids were asked to come to the front for a rousing rendition of “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes”.

IMG_2536.jpg

IMG_2537.jpg

IMG_2538.jpg

Here you can see our table enjoying the festivities.

IMG_2539.jpg

IMG_2540.jpg

Dan and Candi were recognized by Bob for celebrating their anniversary. We loved their matching outfits.

IMG_2541.jpg

This is another bad, blurry picture of Bob, but I thought it was funny that he was showing some leg.

IMG_2542.jpg

I remembered that my phone can take some video (30 seconds at a time) and thought I’d give it a shot.

Sorry, the audio isn't very good.

Continued from previous post.

Then Bob did another song and called Marlene up to be the line leader. She had to lead all of the kids walking around the lounge. At first, she was just going in a circle. But as she went by our table I told her to go in between and around the tables, to make it fun.

IMG_2543.jpg

Then he called all of the ladies and girls up to do the Can Can . My three went one way…

IMG_2544.jpg

and Candi went the other…

IMG_2545.jpg

IMG_2546.jpg

IMG_2547.jpg

Later on, he played “The Flight of the Bumblebee” three times, getting faster each time. I took some video with my phone.

Our server came by and Dan asked for two more beers :drinking1 for he and Candi, but when they arrived Candi didn’t want another one. I was finishing up my Dogfish so I told the waiter to just leave it with me. (I forget what he said exactly, but the waiter loved me for that -- I guess I had just saved him some paperwork.) I took one sip of the Bud Lite Lime and it seemed pretty sour, after drinking the Dogfish. I must have made a face because Dan said, “You don’t like it?” I said that I probably would like it, but after just drinking a Dogfish, it was a tough transition. We’ve had some fun here on the DIS since returning home, referring to that occasion.

Here are a few more Bob photos. I was playing with my camera settings, trying to get a decent picture without a lot of blur.

IMG_2548.jpg

IMG_2549.jpg

IMG_2550.jpg

IMG_2552.jpg

Just about the time I was thinking that he must not play the bugle anymore, he brought it out. He instructed us to do our best Tarzan yell whenever he played “Charge!”

IMG_2553.jpg

I took this picture after he called Judy’s name. He’d just yell your name and get you to smile and wave.

IMG_2555.jpg

IMG_2556.jpg

Then he called all the men up. I’m not sure how Dan ended up staying behind. I think he may have called us by state and left out Indiana. Once we got up to the stage, he didn’t tell us what song he’d be doing. He just said he wanted us to point like this, taking his right hand and pointing forward, then sweeping to the right. Then, taking his left hand and pointing forward, and sweeping to the left. Then he started playing YMCA.

I’m on the stage, so I’m the tallest sucker, er participant.

IMG_2557.jpg

Our pointing was not in synch.

IMG_2558.jpg

IMG_2559.jpg

At 10 he took his break and signed pictures for the kids. Our group, consisting of my family and Dan and Candi got our picture taken with Bob. I asked someone to take our picture using my camera. Here’s how it turned out. Not too bad, but he got the elbow of the guy taking the picture with Yeehaa Bob’s camera in the picture.

IMG_2560.jpg

Bob signed a picture for Dan and Candi.

IMG_2561.jpg

Bob asked Dan to take the picture of the next group of people.

Bob posts these group pictures on his website each week. We didn’t get back from our trip in time for me to see ours on his website, but I sent him an e-mail asking for a copy of the picture and he sent it to me. Here it is!

YeehaaBob06_12_10.jpg

At that point we all left to head for Downtown Disney. A Downtown Disney bus happened to be at the bus stop as we went out. My kids wanted to do some shopping, they had allowance money burning a hole in their pockets, but Judy was exhausted so we decided that I’d go with the kids to the stores and she could head back and get ready for bed. At the Downtown Disney bus stop we said goodbye to Dan and Candi as they headed off for the rest of their evening, and we said goodnight to Judy as she went to the Coronado Springs bus stop, and the kids and I set out for the World of Disney store.

We had a great time meeting Dan and Candi. The Yeehaa Bob show isn’t the best place to hold a conversation, but we did get to talk a little before the show started and a little bit at other times. They’re a really nice couple…as they say in the south, “they’re good people”!

Now, in regards to Downtown Disney, Judy had asked us to look for a charm for her Pandora bracelet. She said she wanted a Mickey one, but when we looked at the choices the kids and I made an executive decision to get a Minnie one instead, due to her “Misty Minnie Moment” from last year’s trip (Link to installment from last year's TR). It’s a glass bead type, pink, with three black circles forming a “Mickey”, but with a white bow on top, indicating Minnie. We gave it to her the next morning and she really liked it.

The kids didn’t find anything they wanted to spend their money on, (not yet anyway). But, this was not the store James had in mind. His goal was the Lego store, and he kept pestering us to finish up and get there. To keep James from worrying too much, we had to ask a cast member what time the stores closed, and I can’t remember if it was 11:30 or midnight, but we still had plenty of time. We went to the Lego store and the rest of us hung out while he labored over his purchasing decision. In the end, he got two of the less expensive Star Wars lego sets.

We left Downtown Disney at 11 and were back to our room a little before midnight. The kids were in their sacks, (and since James was in a sleeping bag that’s actually true in his case), in no time. I sat at the desk for another 10 minutes or so jotting down notes for my trip report before crawling into bed. It was a pretty good start to the trip, and we hadn’t even set foot in a park yet!
