The Moist Exhausting Free Trip Ever - Link to Part II Thread pg. 244

Coming along for the ride after seeing your posts on Dan's trippie.
We will be staying at CSR in Aug as my hubby has a conference there & I am tagging along so anxious to hear about it. We are DVCer's too!!!!

:welcome: Disneygrl36!! I'm glad you're joining in. Dan is the man...we got to meet during this trip.

Lucky you -- tagging along to Disney! Where's your home resort?

First I have to comment on the soda, pop and coke thing. I live in South Louisiana and everything is called coke. "Do you want a coke? What kind?"

I first heard about the coke thing when I was in college and met a guy from Tennessee. I was like, "isn't that confusing"?

Sorry things were so busy for your wife before your trip. She's very lucky to have you. I would have been nuts if I was that busy before. Glad to see she was able to go with the flow and have fun.

I'm lucky to have her, as well. Now that I think back on those couple of weeks, although it was hectic, it was nice that we had the vacation to look forward to. Without it, it would have been almost just as hectic, but without that "reward" at the end.

I want to try that bottle experiment. DD had a very had time last year with our flight. She was in tears on the way home.

Aw. I only wish it would help alleviate the pain. I kept telling him to yawn, and he'd say "I can't. I'm not tired!"

We flew Southwest last year and I had the hardest time finding ME.

I finally figured out that their baggage claim is on the wrong side of the terminal. :headache: You're behind the 8-ball from the get-go.

Love your sign picture! We missed the sign this last trip. The Garmin brought us in the back by the distribution warehouses, no welcome.:sad2:

Thanks! At least you didn't follow the GPS into a lake or something.

All the trouble you went to with your luggage and Disney still got it.:scared1:

Well we'd already brought it that far...why turn it over now?

We call it soda/coke in so cal. when I lived in Portland it was pop....

love the chart...

ME........I love the start of WDW vacations...

The funny thing is that somebody probably got a grant to conduct that survey!

Cool link!

I swear, you can find anything on the internet.

i just read that water bottle thing to candi we thought it was very cool, will have to try that sometime,

even after having 2 prior trips with magical express, the 3rd trip down, when we had parker, i got lost looking for magical express, we went to the other side even had a family following us because they said that we looked liked we knew where we were going.

they do need some signs for it when you get off your fake disney monorail at the airport

Dan is the man...we got to meet during this trip

that should be on a t shirt.

The funny thing is that it isn't. It's just like she said..."I'd like a coke please"...."what kind?" Or if you are at someone's house and they ask if you want something to drink and then give you a list of what there is to choose from it usually goes like this ....."well we have water, milk, coke, etc."...."ok, I'll have a coke".....then they hand you a Dr. Pepper or Pepsi, etc. And you are totally fine with that. :rotfl2:

Oh wait....I forgot to add....unless it's a Sprite. A Sprite is still a Sprite.....even if it's 7Up. :thumbsup2

Poor Judy this really doesn't sound like a good start to the vacation for her!! Will she be returning to teach at that school next year again?

I realized that I forgot to answer this question....the school is on an "at will" basis and yes, she's been asked back.

I had no idea it'd be such a hit with folks on the Disboards! But yes, try it.

Well, as long as you look like you know what you're doing, that's what counts.

that should be on a t shirt.

I'm surprised Candi hasn't custom-made one for you yet.

Okay, you almost had me convinced that it wasn't confusing and then you had to throw the whole Sprite thing in there. But you're right, I'd be totally fine with a Dr. Pepper or Pepsi or anything. I'll go with anything.

Even lime-flavored beer, huh Dan? :rotfl:

Finally caught up for now.

Great trip through the airport.
Too funny about keeping your luggage. Right before ME started we waited about an hour for luggage due to a storm delay. I do ME everytime I fly now. Just pack a bag with essentials, never had a problem. knocks wood
I love CSR.

Well, as long as you look like you know what you're doing, that's what counts.
well i did have them convinced that it was on that side and they moved it this year to try something new...works with strangers(acting like i know but have no clue) but candi will call me on my BS.

you really did not like that beer did you?

you should have told me :upsidedowI could have put down another, not like i did not spend the whole night before that putting down drinks at the luau.

Day 1 - Part 1

One with James in focus.

IMG_2497.jpg

It was about this time we realized that with mom having been so busy, it had been a while since James had had a haircut. Oh well.

One with the girls in focus.

Up next: Lunch at the Pepper Market

You must have had the aperture really dialed up for that shot. I'm glad you made it pretty smoothly so far.

Calmly waiting for your next update. :surfweb:

Yep, I've heard wudder. Good job by your mom. :thumbsup2

Not to keep harping on colloquialisms, but...the one that really bugs us about where we live now is that when people use the word "done" they don't use the word "with" after it. So they say, "are you done your homework?" rather than "are you done with your homework?". It is absolutely rampant here...everyone does it, including teachers, and they don't even notice.

:rotfl: Guilty!

I think that's a Dutch-ism. We're all PA Dutch on my Mom's side, so there's a lot I'm guilty of. I can't remember them all, so I was looking only for "PA Dutch-isms" and discovered that "rutch" is a PA Dutch word. I just told my boyfriend and he said he thought it was a word I made up. :lmao: Let's see..."It's all" vs "It's all gone." (I've gotten better at that one...again, thanks to my boyfriend... "It's all what?") I use "awhile" at the end of sentences, like, "I'm going out to the store awhile." There's a few others, but they seem more common to me, so they're not as funny :upsidedow

I just looked it up and PA Dutch according to Wikipedia refers more to Germans than Dutch (from the German word for German: Deutsch). And the expression "It's all" and the use of "awhile" make a lot of sense in German. When learning English there is the warning of "false friends" words that sound very similar in English and German and have a different meaning. "Alle" can also mean "empty" or "nothing left over" besides also meaning "all". And "awhile" sounds like "eine Weile" (in colloquial German eine is often pronouned just like a) which would be used just as in your example. But "Are you done your homework" can't explained from German. :confused3 The literal translation of the German sentance would be "Have you done your homework?"

I have always referred to it as soda. Pepsi is pepsi and coke is coke. I first heard it called pop when I went to Michigan when I was 13. I thought it was weird. I have always had a milkshake with ice cream.

I live in FL so depending on where people are from you will hear pop or soda.

Agreed Dan. I knew to get my hiney over to the B side from the A side (A side being where Southwest's gates are), but even once over on the B side I think I saw maybe two signs, one when I got to the B side and then nothing until I was lost on the wrong level looking for it, it seemed like it took forever to find it even once on the right level. I didn't get our luggage this time because we got in so early in the day, we already had bags with us that had change of clothes, swim suits that sort of thing.

I'm so glad we did ME, the wait was just a few short minutes to get on the road from airport and the trip to the resort during the day (last time we came in pretty late in the evening) was part of the thrill of being there. I was anxious this time to put to the test to see if we would get our luggage in the three hour time slot we were told we would. :goodvibes

joining the party....

I was born in California where soda is called soda. But my dh is from PA and he grew up calling it coke. but he also calls sprinkles jimmies. So we have a lot of fun in our home with questionable names for things. :)

Loving your TR, came by way of Liesa's ptr.

excited to read more

Jimmies? Gimme a break, right?

Glad you're enjoying the report so far...as in, what there is of it.

Well if we just wanted to go to the pool we probably would've just packed our suits. But we had plans to meet FauntleroyFan and his wife Candi, so we didn't want to stink or anything.

well i did have them convinced that it was on that side and they moved it this year to try something new...works with strangers(acting like i know but have no clue) but candi will call me on my BS.

 That's pretty good. I can hear you, "why do they always have to mess with a good thing and move stuff around?"

you really did not like that beer did you?

I really think it'd be fine on its own, but after having drunk a different beer. You got it right earlier when you said I should have "cleansed my palate". (No one likes a dirty palate.)

you should have told me :upsidedowI could have put down another, not like i did not spend the whole night before that putting down drinks at the luau.

To be honest, I just put it on "auto" and fired away.

Thanks for remaining calm. I hope to update again tomorrow.

We lived in Lancaster for a few years and heard a lot of "it's all" and "awhile". I actually had forgotten about "it's all" until you mentioned it, but I will never forget "awhile".

I just looked it up and PA Dutch according to Wikipedia refers more to Germans than Dutch (from the German word for German: Deutsch). And the expression "It's all" and the use of "awhile" make a lot of sense in German. Yes, PA Dutch is really PA Deutsch. That's really interesting about "alle" and "eine weile". "Have you done your homework?" would be correct, but they'll say something like "Once you're done your homework....". And if ask them about the "with" they'll say they said it.

I have always referred to it as soda. Pepsi is pepsi and coke is coke. I first heard it called pop when I went to Michigan when I was 13. I thought it was weird. I have always had a milkshake with ice cream.

It's unbelievable how the differences are all over the country.

I think ME is a great service!

yeah you would at least think they would have a street sign thingy, but ohh well, when we did make it to the correct ME side, the line to check in was at the elevators doors...so it was easy to find from there, took about 30 minutes to get to the check in desk, the one lady said there were over 2000 families that were arriving within 30 minutes of each otehr and we got stuck in it.

Well if we just wanted to go to the pool we probably would've just packed our suits. But we had plans to meet FauntleroyFan and his wife Candi, so we didn't want to stink or anything.
thats right and i thank glenn for not stinking, now us on the other hand, we might have been a little gamey, it was warm waiting for the luau and watching it.

 That's pretty good. I can hear you, "why do they always have to mess with a good thing and move stuff around?"
thats right, always mess with fauntleroy:laughing:

I really think it'd be fine on its own, but after having drunk a different beer. You got it right earlier when you said I should have "cleansed my palate". (No one likes a dirty palate.)

yeah im not a fan of changing that much on the flavors, bud light lime is our drink when we go camping and we are done setting up and time to relax, we turn on some bob marley or jimmy B and relax with a cold one.
:thumbsup2

i saw your writing about the dutch, do you have any amish by you glenn? or is that a different part of the state.

:welcome: Disneygrl36!! I'm glad you're joining in. Dan is the man...we got to meet during this trip.

Lucky you -- tagging along to Disney! Where's your home resort?

Our first contract was HHI & we added points at SSR. Now, I am dreaming of adding BLT points.:cool1: It's an addiction I tell ya.:cool1:

Your right Glenn, ME rocks!

Oooh Dan that stinks about your getting to ME with everyone and their brother. We got there and it was a total ghost town, probably why it was hard to find it.

i saw your writing about the dutch, do you have any amish by you glenn? or is that a different part of the state.
