The "Minnie's Holiday dine" / Fantasmic Issue

I think the issue is you're paying more for the F! package, and then Disney adds an additional show after the fact that makes it literally impossible to use it (especially in the situation of a 6:30 res for a 7:00 show that was added later). Isn't this a definition of a bait and switch? How can they offer something and then you can't use it due to no fault of your own? If you're going to add a 7:00 show and force people to go to the first showing, you can't offer a 6:30 res with the F! package. Right??

That's the way I see it ( and by the looks of the other thread ( which reached 150 pages) , so did a ton of other people---

And what about newcomers to Disney who have no idea you must normally use it at the first showing when there is no verbiage about it on the original reservation?

Also true--- plus, at the 180 when most booked --- the first show was 8:30--- since it was the only one, and hence why the ADR made no mention of us--- it only appeared as "First show" on the ADR when Disney added the 7PM show.

It changed. It happens. Your choices include trying for an earlier dine time, canceling all together, or making sure you are done in time to make it to the show.

Arguing w Rusty about set policies is not going to help or change reality

Is it fair? No
Is it ideal? No
Is it reality? Probably

I totally understand that stuff happens --- I was just curious as to whether or not anyone that had the same issue had contacted disney --- the options that you provided certainly exist, but are rough--- ( especially making sure you are done to make it to the show--- not going to happen with any Ressie from 6pm on ---

Another option is just paying the extra for the F! Package, and getting a FP for the later show ---

1) No "error".
2) All shows are "Subject to Change Without Notice".
. . . there is no arrangement at WDW that is guaranteed
. . . no room, no resort, no ADR, no show time
3) Adding another performance is not wrong, in fact a favor for other guests desiring to view the show on busy days.
4) No dinner package is listed as anything but "Fantasmic! 1st Show".

Per Disney . . .
Know Before You Go
Fantasmic! is performed on select nights only. Be sure to check the Times Guide at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the schedule and show times. Since this is an outdoor show, it is also subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. Show times are subject to change.

I started this post before Pumbaa posted, and I am NOT arguing with RS, but I do want to comment on the substance of his post.

It's fine to quote the Disney Bible verbatim to counter most complaints. But not in this case. Adding additional shows is done all the time. But when has Disney EVER added an earlier Fantasmic? As far back as I can remember, extra shows have been added LATER. This had to have been an error- either the initial show posting was a mistake or whoever decided to add the earlier show was completely ignorant regarding the effect it would have on the F! dinner ADRs.

Telling people " too bad, so sad, check your times guide" does absolutely no good for people who are stuck with ADRs they can't use and can't move to earlier times.

I hope everyone affected will send a complaint to Disney, outlining this problem. Here's the email address:

Totally agree, and was not my intent to argue with RS either --- the main problem is that this was a DiSNEY error, mistake, oversight--- whatever term you want to use--- and they should be the ones to attempt to correct it --
CMs telling people that you will easily make it for the 7pm show, when they have an ADR from 5:30-6pm, is not helping matters --- and while there are options -- none of them seem to be that great

Wasn't trying to argue either :-) I felt like some clarification was needed as this particular meal seems to be different than most of the other F! meals that are offered and it's frustrating that things are being changed after the fact that can make the F! portion of the original reservation useless.

I really don't think this is one of those things Disney can sort of look the other way on. If they don't fix this, they're going to have hundreds of people showing up for ADRs with Fantasmic! tickets they can't use. People aren't just going to shrug their shoulders and say "oh well!"

Also, no server is going to greet their table with, "hi folks, these are your tickets for Fantastmic!, the show starts in 30 minutes and you have to be there in 15, so hit the buffet quick, try to see the characters while you can, and best of luck to you!"

We have a 515 ADR for Minnie H & V , with Fantasmic pkg. It's not ideal for the 7 pm and I think they should have the FP for the 2nd show but, we will make it work the best we can. I think it is out of line of Disney to do this and hopefully they will rectify the situation

I'm petrified! We have a Brown Derby reservation on a night with an 8:30 pm Fantasmic. Our reservation is at 6 pm, which is TWO AND A HALF HOURS EARLIER than the scheduled FANTASMIC! They haven't scheduled a 7:00 pm show, but they could, and according to Disney experts, I have to EXPECT that they will do this and I have to EXPECT that Disney will do nothing about it. It doesn't matter that I reserved 180 days out. I just checked and the earliest we can change it to is 4:10. We already have a Prime Time Cafe scheduled at 12:30. What does Disney want me to do? Be petrified that my 180 day planning was for nothing? Throw EVERYTHING out and start over and just take what I can get just IN CASE they put a 7:00 pm Fantasmic on? Because, according to Disney, it is our fault that we only had 2 1/2 hours before the first show. We should know better.

I canceled my F! dinner package for planning reasons other than the new showtime, and we moved to another night for Minnie's meal without F! BUT this totally bums me out for all of you that worked hard to get these ADRs (sometimes a pretty time-consuming feat) and fine-tune your plans, only to have a last minute snafu. Good luck everyone!

I had to book the SWW Jedi Mickey Dinner with the Fantasmic option last year because they didn't have any available openings without. When I called the CM booked the reservation with the Fantasmic seating & advised me to tell them when I checked in at H & V that I didn't want the Fantasmic package and could they please remove it. I did and they did removed it and I only paid for the dinner without the Fantasmic Package. I kept checking for a reservation without the Fantasmic but wasn't able to get one. For those of you having issues if you can't get it resolved with Disney Dining I suggest you FP the second Fantasmic show & ask the restaurant to remove the package when you check in at the podium. The CM's who are telling people they have plenty of time to make the 7PM Fantasmic show with dining reservations after 5PM are clueless.

I guess I will keep my 6:30 ADR with F! since I am using a dining plan credit, and be thankful that I have a 3:55 F! lunch ADR at MM 2 days later.

So let me get this straight- Disney Offered a special Fantasmic Dinner Package that was for the hours of 4:30 - 6:30 ONLY!!!! And at that time the show was only one that night at 8:30 with NO other shows. It was presented and Marketed this way!!! I booked this special dinner on thanksgiving night to take all 5 generations to a special Minnie Holiday Dine with Fantasmic so that I could take all 9 of us (5 which have never seen Fantasmic or have Never been to WDW) our reservations are for 6:30 and then to the 8:30 Fantasmic. AND NOW DISNEY JUST SAYS in a round about way. - Suck it up because we really don't care. Walt would be rolling over right now if he could and bury his head in shame.
