The Middle impressions

We don't normally watch the show, but the kids and I watched the show and got a good laugh. Did anyone else notice that when they showed the three kids on rides, they were on Splash Mtn at MK, then Test Track at EP, then Little Mermaid at MK? Then they showed up with their parents in EP. Bugged me that they couldn't at least put the rides in the correct order!

YES!!!! I didn't want to be the one to point it out and showcase how Disney crazy I really am.

I absolutely love The Middle and I was so happy they got to go to wdw. That said, the ep drove me craaaazzzzyyyy. That kind of treading water and getting nothing accomplished at Disney is my idea of a nightmare. I was sooooo frustrated and kept yelling at them.

But in the end, I suppose it was true to the Hecks. This is the kind of stuff they do. But man, two days at Disney and only 3 rides, that we could see, would have me leaving the park very, very sad.

We were at Disney the week they filmed this. I did enjoy the show but the taping of this show very much interrupted my vacation so I was really hoping for at least more and was disappointed by the brevity of some of the scenes.

Almost every scene was at a ride we had been trying to ride at the exact moment they were there: right down to the Paris Illuminations scene on the bridge, my autistic nephew got seriously scolded by a stressed out CM for not realizing what was going on. Even the MK scene when Sue faints was filmed our very first day at MK and we were diverted through the stores. It was a cute scene but I was mad at her for ruining MY view of the castle. Selfish, I know, but still my viewing was tainted by my too fresh memories.

I feel the same way- the episode made me anxious to watch them wander around and accomplish nothing.

I have had Disney nightmares about the exact things the Hecks experienced- waking up late and missing most of the day, going to the parks and having one setback after another cause us to never ride anything, or not having the correct tickets at the front gate.

My DD was getting annoyed at times and what you stated is probably why. She did point out, that we do take the shampoo and when she becomes famous, she will have a big table in her house just like Axl and not use it. Also, my other DD asked if she could take the spare roll of toilet paper, because she was out at her apartment.

DH and I laughed at the toilet paper scene. He hates the WDW toilet paper because it isn't thick enough, so we always buy his favorite Charmin Ultra Soft when we do our grocery run to Publix.
The Middle is my favorite TV comedy. Although there were lots of WDW things that weren't quite accurate, I thought that it was a realistic depiction of what a Heck family trip would be like.

DH and I laughed at the toilet paper scene.

Ok, I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I was thinking "I don't care where you stay, the toilet paper at WDW stinks!"

All they won was the tickets (to Disneyland).
They were pixie dusted into the suite, because no Garden View (I assume that is lowest level- that's usually what hotels call their parking lot views...) rooms were available.

I'm really surprised that the show didn't say where the hotel room was. How can people go book it? Pretty awful advertising! (I actually liked that this seemed to be a typical Middle episode set in Disney, rather than a Disney commercial using the Middle characters.)

It was definitely the GF. In one scene, there is a decorative plate on the wall and it has the GF logo on it.

We loved the episode and we love the show in general. Knowing the Heck's, we knew the trip would be a hilarious disaster.

I'm glad they were able to pull it together in their own Heck way though.

I agree. I love the show and was frustrated watching it, especially the wasted time on visiting Brick's "girlfriend". But I guess it wouldn't be a Heck vacation w out all the drama and chaos. It was a total disaster!!! LOL

If all they won was the tickets, then even the garden view room at GF would be out of the Hecks reach, they start at $550 per night.

They were not booked at ANY room in the GF originally- because they were in the wrong state. Their original room was a Garden View room at some hotel in California. It could have been a Motel 6; they never said. Lots of hotels use "Garden View" distinction. Often it is "Garden View" (parking lot) or "Pool View" (courtyard).

When the parents said they were going to Paris and started to walk away my whole family shouted " wrong way". lol.

I actually hate that show but taped it for the episode. Enjoyed the Disney half.

The Grand Floridian grand villa is the only one with a media room so I knew where they were.

Personally, I loved the episode. Not for it's (lack of) depth and I'll forgive the fact that they didn't exactly follow any touring plans (Sue tried!) I loved it because it gave me a bit of a "Disney fix" and I just loved seeing the parks! I didn't care that things were out of order, because I went in expecting that. After all, it is a sitcom. When are things in sitcoms ever like they are in real life?
