With only nine days to go, I thought I'd do a pre-trip report. This is as much for my benefit as those of you who like to read such things as I have the memory of a goldfish so I thought having a record on the DISboard would be a good reminder of the visit
When
6th-7th June 2009
Where
Hotel Cheyenne(I hope they are ready for us
)
Who
Me(Tina)-the baby of the party at 36! Chief planner. Been to DLP several times but never without DH or DS1 and DS2. Favourite ride BTM.
Virginia -age classified! 2nd in command. Been to DLP more than me but 1st time staying on-site. Favourite ride BTM.
Helen - age also classified! Disney Virgin. Has no idea what to expect but is game for anything.
Honny - the mother of the group. Chief bag-holder(so she says). Been to DL Hong Kong and California,1st DLP trip.
How this trip came to happen
During one of our (many) evenings out,the subject of Disney came up and Virginia and I discovered that we both LOVED DLP and found that we had both had exactly the same conversations/arguments with our husbands during each visit i.e everything was too expensive, the crowds were too big,the queues were too long-you get the idea! So we decided that we didn't need the grumpy old men - we could go on our own. Honny then exclaimed that she would love to visit DLP as she'd never been,so that was three. We then decided that Helen should come (whether she wanted to or not hehe) and enjoy the DLP experience.
Having got the all-clear from DH(who thinks its very sad for four grown women to go to Disney without any children in tow. He just doesn't get it!!) and DS1 and DS2 who have been loads and are Disneyed out, I got the ball rolling.
As I was the only one to have stayed on-site I was put in charge of the arrangements.I priced up the Pink Palace as you do
but for one night and for the amount of time we'd be in the room we couldn't justify the price,so we decided on Cheyenne which I love.
Virginia and I have bagged the bunk beds so Honny and Helen will either be sharing or one of them will be sleeping in the bath
So we are off on Saturday 6th June and coming home
on Sunday 7th,without the grumpy old men or hyper children.
The title of this trip refers to an agreement we made when planning the visit. That was:
1.To buy and wear Mickey Ears(or some kind of silly headgear) for the duration of the trip, but still manage to maintain our dignity
2.To buy and wear matching DLP T-shirts as Virginia and I had never been allowed to do this on previous visits due to highly embarrassed children(this was the case with the Ears as well!)
3.To buy ponchos to wear in the playground when we are duty and it rains-the children will think its cool
Trip Goals
To do all of the above
To ride ToT and Crush's Coaster as they were too busy to ride on my last visit
To catch the Stars 'n' Cars parade
To get Honny on as many rides as she can cope with and Helen on absolutely everything!
To enjoy the company of some fantastic friends
To buy as much as possible and enjoy DLP to the full
Thank you if you have made it this far -once I start I can't stop!!
