Just wondering if the melting pot is worth all of the hype? I have ressies sat night and Im just wondering if it is going to be as good as I have heard? And for my DH and I how much should I expect to pay?

I love the Melting pot, its really quite good but it is expensive. We usually get the big night out which is about $90 for a couple and a bottle of wine, so we end up spending at least $120 when we go.

Most of the restaurants have their menu's on line with pricing so you can look and see what you want and the cost.

Depends on what your expectations are. We go about once a year and really enjoy it. Look to spend about $100-$150 for the two of you.

Last time we were there was last April for my birthday. DH who is more of a Ruth Chris type of guy really had a nice time. We go in with the idea of relaxing and enjoying our time with each other, over all the food is good and we have as much fun cooking it as eating it. If you have never done a fondue restaurant, spend time asking questions of your waiter so you are not let down by not understanding what you are ordering. The first time I went was with friends who had been there several times and had they not explained it to me, I probably would have been dissapointed in my selections, but they did steer me to what I would like.

we really like it there. we go once or twice a year. We get the Big Night Out. It’s like $89 and is all 4 courses. Salad, cheese, meat, and dessert. You get to pick what you want.
DH usually gets a few Ying and Yang martinis. They are like $10 each. He really likes them.

If you sign up on their website they give you a free chocolate dessert. I think you get one the first time you sign up and then also for sure on your birthday and anniversary. If you get the Big Night Out, they just take off $12 or $13, whatever dessert fondue costs.

It may be too late to sign up for tomorrow night though.

I just checked restaurant.com and Melting Pot in Boston is participating. That would save you some money.

Very tasty, very expensive. Not really worth it in my opinion.

We go there a couple of times a year. Usually once or twice for dinner but we love to go there just for a special dessert treat!! It is a bit expensive and be prepared for a long meal.

I think it is expensive for what it is, but I also appreciate that the set up practically forces you (in a good way) to linger over a meal. I appreciate the time to just slow down sometimes. You leave smelling like the food because it cooks at your table.

I thought it was overpriced and not all that fabulous. I can make better fondue at home, and it's pretty easy to do.

My DH is a steak eater, so it was torture for him to have to cook bites of meat. I really enjoyed it, though. I am a slow eater and like to "linger".
We will most likely not go back because there are places that we both agree on that we love and are a bit less expensive.

I love the cheese and dessert fondues. Not crazy about any of the meat options (cooking my meat by boiling it or frying it is not my favorite).

also wanted to add that if you dont' like one of the options for dipping they will usually let you add more of something else (ie. by DH is allergic to shellfish so they will let us substitute more beef or chicken instead). We go about once a year and spend around $100 and at least 2 hours there.

We're going tonight for my birthday! Last year we were at WDW for my birthday and had dinner at Hoop De Doo. But this will be fun too. I got a certificate on Restaurant.com during one of their sales. It was $1.80 for a $25 off coupon, usable on Big Night Out only. So instead of $82, it'll be $57. Still pricey but worth it for a special ocassion. And cheaper than Hoop De Doo.

You can also just get the cheese and chocolate which will be around $30.

The entrees are around $24 each but dont include cheese or chocolate. So if you want both of those you're better off just doing the big night out.

Hugely expensive, too trendy, and generally loud. (Every last time we've been there, even on weekdays, we've been hemmed in by crowds of Sex in the City wannabes who were literally shrieking. I now ask to be seated with other families, toddlers aren't nearly as irritating or obnoxious.) It's a faux luxury experience made with cheap ingredients, you could spend the money from one meal there to get the same fancy equipment (ie electric fondue pots, though a heavy casserole in the oven or even a little dipper crockpot work equally well) and have better food at home.

We went quite a few years ago with two other couples and we were there 4 HOURS! And not just socializing, cooking and eating! It was also overpriced and just OK. One of our friends almost stabbed her DH's hand with her fork when he reached over to get some of her food, so that was entertaining. Found out MP sharing isn't for everybody.:rotfl: It was a novel experience, but DH and I both decided that if we are paying for it we want someone else to cook our food.

I'd basically agree. It seems best suited for the soccer mom crowd who want to have a pretend fancy girls night out to drink cosmos and think they are pampering themselves. It would certainly be a pain to assemble all the items they offer for you to dip on your own, so it is not without a unique charm and experience. I see it like Benihanna, dinner theater. Neither place is winning any awards, but is a cheap decent meal.

DH and I enjoy it, but it's definitely not for everybody. We like the relaxing atmosphere (it hasn't ever been loud when we've been) and that we get to linger over dinner (with two preschoolers at home, we're lucky to get a few bites in on a normal day!). It just depends on whether or not the experience sounds appealing to you. --Katie

Wow its about 50/50 huh? Im so torn! I want to try something new but at $100-150 I dont want to be disapointed! I am only concerned about the cooking your own food thing. I went to fire and ice a few years ago and would not return because of the whole picking out raw food then standing in line to have it made. My best friend says I need to go here that it is amazing :worship:! For that kinda money it better be amazing lol! SO TORN WHAT TO DO WHAT TO DO??? I dont mind spending the money at all its just I dont want to be disapointed:sad2:! HMMMMMMMM

I think you should go since you've never been.

It's like a cooking show at your table, so if you like watching the food network at all you'll love it.popcorn::

oh, and the cheese fondues are to die for. OMG.

Now you HAVE to go, so you can post an update on the boards for us;)

:thumbsup2 We have been once, and it's on the list to do again for a special occasion. We liked what we had, but want to try a different package or another cooking medium for the meat. It is expensive, but we rarely eat out and don't mind spending $$ when we do... but it's more about the experience.

We went on a Sun night, and it was quiet and a nice evening. If you go for the new experience, can "go with the flow", and don't mind actually TALKING to pass the time while things cook , I think you'll like it.

Of course, the Big Night Out is a LOT of food! Like I said, we were there on a Sunday, and I wasn't hungry again until Thursday!! :lmao:

Hope you like it!! :goodvibes
