The Med Thread - All Sailings - Mediterranean

I had heard anything after 11:00am should be fine-anyone heard anything more specific?

According to the Itinerary the ship docks at 6:45 AM!

I have a flight out at 12:25PM:thumbsup2

Ours is at 12:55.

How far is it from Dock to Airport?

Thanks-shouldn't take more than 1/2-3/4 hr with DCL transfers then?

I could be wrong. :confused3 I thought I read somewhere a while ago not to schedule flights before 10:30 am.

We have 11:10 am and DCL transfers.

that is what i had heard, because we had a choice between a 10 or a 1:30 and had to go with the 1:30, but they might have pushed it back.

Hi. My family is booked on the June 6th 10 day Med cruise. A few of us live near WDW and are planning a pre cruise Get-Together and BBQ in the Orlando area. Possibly at Fort Wilderness or my small farm and maybe combined with a group day a WDW.

I thought we might open the doors and invite Med Cruisers for all the other Med dates except those Repositioning Cruiser types .... OK, I guess you guys can come too, but only if you promise to do the cooking.

I'm thinking April but no date has been set so suggestions are welcome.

PS: I was only teasing the Repositioning Cruisers.. They still have to cook though. wink wink

If I'm behind the times .. sorry .. but I just noticed that they finally fixed the wish list for excursions. They now say the correct port! Is this a sign that it is getting closer .. I mean the repo cruise is less than four months away!! :yay: :dance3:

A while back, I did a bit of research on a cell to use when on the Med. My Verizon Samsung PDA isn't the proper model to work overseas. (I could get the newer version for a bunch of cash and it would work, but theres that 'bunch of cash' thing.)

I had looked at renting another phone from Verizon in order to have a US number at a pretty stiff price, or there were rentals available in Europe that were much cheaper with a European number.

I'm really just looking for something that would allow a few minutes calling per day back to family, etc., or for emergency calls from my office.

Anybody have any newer research on what is available, pricing plans, etc?

I have Cingular which will work in europe & their International plan, you can check them out, maybe a cheap phone with them would work?:upsidedow

I have a company phone that works globally. It is by Singular/AT&T or whatever they are called now a days. From what I recall the phone works in AsiaP Pacific, India, europe and even the middle east.

Not sure if they have a rental program though

You have to make sure that your phone is enabled to use abroad.
We purchased a very cheap Siemens A60 which is on Virgin network and we can use this anywhere. It is a pay as you go so no monthly charges. We just top this up whenever necessary and have used in US and Europe.

We can purchase these in Virgin megastores over here also so perhaps they are available in America also.

I called Virgin's help line and talked to one of their account reps. She told me that their phones would work here in the US, and you could call all over Europe from the US using them, but that you wouldn't be able to use them when IN Europe. She said the only other place they actually had Virgin service was in Britain, and it was a different technology and US phones might not work there.

Sounds like if I had a phone like yours (from the UK) this would work, but buying one here won't.

If anybody knows otherwise, let me know.

Thanks!

We're taking a chance with a 945 out or Barcelona. Otherwise we won't get home till the next day. Cat might be hungry by then.

Seroiusly? A 9:45am flight? The same day you get off the ship? You will never make it. You have to be at the airport 2 hours prior. Plus the airport is 30 minutes away.

I was kind of thinking the same thing about the 9:45 flight. Don't forget you have to go through international customs and everything. I would have a back up plan, just in case.

The airline says you need to check in by 9. And as this is a domestic flight, not quite the hassle. I hope.
