That looks interesting, the website doesn't have an age..anyone know if 9 year olds can do it too?
S

Although the Barcelona site doesn't specify, for the Paris tours, under FAQs there was something about kids and having kids bikes, tandems, etc., so I think a 9 year old would be no problem . . .

You could always contact the operation in Barcelona and ask for sure, but I believe they are under the same umbrella as the Paris and Berlin branches, so probably they have the same set up.

Hi, I contacted them and they said
"Children of all ages are welcome on our bike tours. Your 12 year old will likely be fine riding a regular sized bike, but we have smaller sized kid bikes, just in case.":goodvibes

That's great . . . it does look like a lot of fun. We are going to Paris after the cruise, so I am considering the Paris day or night, or even the Verseilles one. I really like that the Barcelona one has a stop at the beach, too.

Thanks for letting us know. Kids would have enjoyed the tour we took in Berlin - and this one has a beach!!!:yay:

Thanks for the information. Sounds like something my daughter wouldn't be "bored" with! :)

I read every so often people post that the Med trips were not well taken up, in the press release for the two new DCL ships today the following is quoted, it confirms as we all know they are well subscribed.

New itineraries

Disney Cruise Line, which traditionally offers 3-, 4- and 7-night Caribbean cruises, has also enjoyed strong demand for new itineraries. Trips to the Mediterranean and to the West Coast have recently set booking records within the company and booked 30-50 percent faster than the existing itineraries at higher prices.

Yes, I noticed that, too . . . the eastbound repo clearly wasn't filling too fast, which is why they discounted it, but the rest have done quite well. I checked today and our cruise (leaving Aug. 8) would only have cat 9 and 10 GTY available (and for about $4000 more than our cost).

Yes there is limited availaility on the 'actual Med cruises the repos particularly the August one back didnt do as well, but some people think all the cruises didnt do well!

I just got home and got on-line. I missed it. when/where was this announcement of the two new DCL ships finally made?

I know, it's crazy. I also checked availability for the normal 7 night Western we are taking beginning March 24 (next month) and there are lots of categories available! And this is in the spring break season, too . . . it seems to me that the Med cruises have filled up very, very nicely for DCL.

They have little availability against other Med cruise ships who are discounting and also against availability in September on the Magic back in the carribean.

If anyone is sailing on the 26 May 11 day Med cruise, tomorrow is the deadline to pay off any remaining balance. We paid ours off this week and I am more excited than ever about this trip!

Here's something interesting. When we booked in April the cruise cost was $13,632.00 (4 people/cat 5) and then I didn't really pay much attention to the balance due till last week. That's when I noticed our cruise cost was 'only' $13,505.04. I wrote DCL to ask why the difference and they said "...October, 2006, the Government Taxes and Fees were adjusted on your booking." So we saved $127. Whohoo! :-)

We booked in early April 2006....so 11 months down and 3 months to go!!!

I was sent a refund, Paid my in full a while back.

We finally got around to booking a hotel room in Barcelona. We are getting there two days before we sail so we'll have time to explore Barcelona before the cruise.

We booked a 3 star hotel in Barcelona and it cost us $180 a night. That didn't sound too bad...till we realized we had to book two nights and two rooms as we are 2 adults and 2 teenagers and the 'standard' in Europe seems to be 2 people per room. Man, what's up with that?!

So over $700 for the hotel. Cha-ching! I guess you don't sign up for a Disney Cruise in the Mediterrean and not expect to shell out the coinage!

Most rooms are smaller I went for a family suite at a hotel to accomodate the kids.

Yes, when I paid mine off in January I noticed it was slightly less . . . we should consider that "found" money and spend it on something fun we wouldn't have ordinarily bought/consumed/done. For example, if I find $5 on the street, I will buy a specialty Starbucks coffee with it rather than just add it to the money already in my wallet. So let's all think of something interesting to spend the money we saved on taxes and fees on . . .

True enough. However, I reserved a room at an all-suite hotel near La Sagrada Familia for 210 euro a night, and it has two bedrooms. It's not right next to the port, but it was worth it to me.
