Have been trying to find timings for the med excursions and have received the following from DCL

The specific meeting times for every Mediterranean shore excursion
option for your cruise will be available on our website starting on
March 18, 2007.

I hope this information has been helpful. If you require further
assistance in planning your visit, please feel free to contact us.

Am sure that other earlier cruisers will already be able to book and wonder if they could be good enough to post the information for us please.

We finally got around to booking a hotel room in Barcelona. We are getting there two days before we sail so we'll have time to explore Barcelona before the cruise.

We booked a 3 star hotel in Barcelona and it cost us $180 a night. That didn't sound too bad...till we realized we had to book two nights and two rooms as we are 2 adults and 2 teenagers and the 'standard' in Europe seems to be 2 people per room. Man, what's up with that?!

So over $700 for the hotel. Cha-ching! I guess you don't sign up for a Disney Cruise in the Mediterrean and not expect to shell out the coinage!

I know you already booked the hotel, but if changing plans is still an option, you might want to consider booking a vacation apartment (as we have, for 3 nights before our August cruise). Take a look at bcninternet . com - you can find 2-bedroom apartments with full kitchens for hundreds less than you're planning to pay the hotel.

It is up to everyone's own view but with limited time and so much to see, i would recommend a plan or DCL trips.

We have a mix of some DCL excursions and some on-our-own ports. I had allocated about $2k for shore excursions and we ended reserving excursions totaling about $2.5k. Cha-ching! We have something reserved in every port except Olbia and Barecelona. We'll do those ports on our own.

I have to keep reminding myself that we signed up for this cruise to see some of Europe with the kids and we're spending a ton of money to get in the neighborhood....doesn't make much sense to start skimping now.

It's a matter of personal preference, but it is quite doable to plan your own excursions -- it's what I am doing. There is some info on another thread here

I just received an email from travelocity that Europe flights are on sale. A flight for me would have been about $250 cheaper today than 3 weeks ago - they all seem to be British Airways with a connecting flight in London (makes sense) to Iberia. Reasonable times too. HTH someone.

sorry - Detroit would have been my departing city

Some fares offered did require an airport change- some only a plane change. I did not check layover times in London.

I find that ironic. I checked my flights yesterday and the cost has gone up $400. I finally purchased something at the right time !!!

If anyone gets the HD channel EQUTR they are showing a show called EYE OVER ITALY. It looks so beautiful. It shows that it will be on again at 5pm (PST)...
