The wait for possible May AP rates is just about killing me

I haven't booked yet. An AP rate would make me consider a deluxe over a value this time.

They will only switch your rate to an AP rate if there is a room available for those dates at the discounted rate.
I personally don't book a room until rates come out. If I'm not willing to pay rack rate I won't make a reservation for it.
If you're willing to pay rack rate at the resort you're going to book, then by all means make the reservation. If not, I'd wait. If rooms are all booked at rack, why bother offering a discount to AP holders?

That makes sense, although I would possibly pay rack rate, but since it seems it will be soon that the AP rates will come out, I should just wait.

If you haven't booked reservations for your may trip yet, I would book your rooms soon and not necessarily wait for rates. I know a lot of people are having problems getting reservations because a few hotels are already sold out!

If you book at rack rate be prepared to possibly pay that because it will not guarantee you a "discounted" room. If there are not a lot of rooms available during the time frame when you want to go, there aren't going to be a lot of "discounted" rooms available either.

Even if you have a reservation now, as one poster already mentioned, they may not have those same rooms available at the discount. WDW blocks off a certain amount of rooms at the AP rate/FL resident rate when they are released. If they are already really booked up they may not have much available at that rate at all. So, just keep that in mind. Keep flexible with which resort you want to stay in. Some years back this happened with WL a lot. They would sell out of a discounted rate just as quick as they were released.

Alright here's my issue: DW and I want to extend our current vacation by 2 days (1 day on either end). Currently we're booked in a POFQ from 04/29 to 05/11 and we want to change this to 04/28 to 05/12. Apparently this isn't possible; there aren't any AAA discounted rooms available for this extension. PLEASE HELP US!!!! Right now our plan is to book 2 room only ressies for these extended days. Here is what our plan currently looks like:

04/28 - Room only ressie at POP
04/29 to 05/11 - POFQ w/ DDP; 10 day MYW+PH+Waterparks
05/11 - Room only ressie at POFQ

I've tried and tried to get it so that the 2 room only ressies are together but I can't get the POFQ package any other way than I have it now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Some help PLEASE...I just got a pin in the mail...said it was for the campground..only asked if it was applicable for any of the resorts..which they said it was. Time was 4/23 to 6/2. I was looking for a room at the Poly..they said none was available with the discount. I was able to get room at the WL..which we've stayed at many times. I would need two rooms there. They gave a rate of $258.00 a night...for Courtyard view room(which was only view available with the pin)..for each room. Arrival on May 19 departing on 16th. Does this sound right to you folks? Seems high for a code to me. Last time we stayed at the Lodge was 4 years ago..also with a mailer and we paid about $160.00 for a woods view. I did book it since it's a room only..and have until March 6th to send deposit. I have to tell you the person I spoke to seemed to be very confused..by rates and discounts..so I'm wondering if this sounds about right to anyone else who has been able to book during that time period.? Thanks for your help.

I'm fairly sure that the rack rate for a courtyard view room at WL during your dates (i.e. regular season) is $320/night. So if you got it for $258 that's a 20% discount!

Doesn't sound bad at all to me, especially considering the room-only rate discount through AAA during this time is only 10%

How do you know rates are being released tomorrow?

Last year they were released on wednesday, february 22. Tomorrow is wednesday, february 21st. So I'm not sure if he knows or is just guessing, but tommorrow would be a logical guess. However, in the 2 previous years before last year, they were released in early march so who knows.

Well the ticket upgrade for 5 people is $505. So you need to figure out what 20% off rack for CSR is for 4 nts x 2.

Well....rack rate at CSR is $175 per night during the summer....times 2 would be $350 per night. 20% off would be $70 per night discount for both rooms ($35 per room per night).

That would only be $280 for 4 nights x plus the 12.5% tax which is a savings of $315 for the 4 night stay. If you are saving $515 with your current package, then I would leave it alone. Seems like you are saving an additional $200 with the package.

I'm just trying to get into POFQ from 04/28 to 05/12 w/ a AAA vacations rate....no luck though. If an AP code comes out I'll try for that I guess...DW loves the DDP but I think we could make the sacrifice if we can get a good AP discount.

They came out in February last year so lets keep our fingers crossed.
