The MARCH of the Ducks!

Jenn That's AWESOME!! Congratulations on choosing the 6 miler!! I hope you have a great race and a fantastic time. (Betsy had shoulder surgery and has been recuperating from that.)

Betsy I am so inspired by you! :worship: All last year with your training for the Ironman and then the surgeries that you had and now, you are getting back out there. I am very happy that you are able to get back out there and resume your training. I just don't want you to get hurt again. Please be careful. I am looking forward to meeting you in '10. And as far as keeping up with Rich, there ain't no way. (Sorry but I am from the South!) Rich is capable of doing a lot more than I am on a regular, consistant basis. I envy his endurance.

Update I talked with Liz this morning and she let me know that the doctor has her down and out of work, exercise, the whole thing until the end of the month. She really misses everyone here and is anxious to get back and back to being active again. Liz, if you stop by to check in, I want you to know you are in my prayers for a faster than planned recovery.

For me, there has been a lot of personal issues going on around here. The good news is that I am still getting my workouts in. The bad news is with everything that has been going on, I have been loosing some of my intensity. The last 2 days I have really tried to up it back up and have had some incredible strength workouts because of it. But yesterday, my mileage wasn't all that great. I tried to make up for it today and I probably over did it a bit. (Between the bike and a run, I did 36 miles today.) I have also decided to try to do more runs for the next few weeks anyway because I want to build up my endurance and speed a little for my next half in April. I will never be as fast as a lot of the people here on WISH but so far, I have beat my previous time each time out in a race. Disney set the mark. I beat that at the Mercedes by 7:30. This time, I am actually going to train for it and I want to take off at least another 15 minutes if at all possible. (Please pray for my sanity!)

Hope everyone is having a great night! Oh by the way, I am going to post everyone's birthday on the first thread so we will all be able to remember. I will try to do that in the next couple of days.

Happy Training all!!!
Bryan:grouphug: :cheer2: :yay: :woohoo:

Betsy the Ironman would be a outstanding accomplishment. I thought about doing it but not sure about the swim and the biking. I have a friend that does Olympic Tri's The cost of his bike was 5 grand I almost passed out. I hope you get healthy I love to hear that race report.

Byran I can't do the Talledega Race this year but I keep it in mind for next year. DB and I want to come down for the Nascar race love that track. We are trying to get Bristol Tickets this year have a good chance of getting some for the August race.

JennCongrats on the Six miler you'll do just fine. Have fun and enjo yourself.

Ronda just keep it up I agree with betsy some morning I push to run quicker miles others I just coast at 10 minute miles . Race days are the hardest trying to tell yourself to remember your pace and not get caught up in the madness. Just keep it up and you'll push through it.

Hi all, glad everyone is doing well.

My totals for Feb 22-28 are
13 miles
75 min

I'm still nursing some tendonitis but it is getting better. I'm just not a patient person when it comes to this type of thing. Fortunately a friend of mine is patient and he has been the voice of reason. He's really starting to annoy me even though he's right!

I am one of those stubborn goats - I'm a Capricorn through and through! My birthday is January 11th! I'm thrilled about spending my birthday in one of my favorite places in the whole wide world this coming year.

Have a great week.
Lisa

Jenn...I had shoulder surgery in November for a torn rotator cuff. Hurt it mountain biking...but it was a really pretty ride! :lmao: So being able to swim again is a huge deal. And I don't even really love swimming all that much!

MrsPotts...I'll get your hours/miles updated later...busy at work. Thanks for posting!

Rich...No Ironman this year...I've done 6 (people keep saying 7...I started 7, but dropped out of one due to a stress fracture in my foot...sort of a planned DNF). Tri is definitely my 'thing.' I'm not fast, but I try, and I love it. :goodvibes

Hey everyone! Hope your week is moving right along. :thumbsup2

So I've finally created a training calendar to get ready for the Donald. There's about 44 weeks until the big day! (haha..that sounds SOOOO far away!). I've only filled out the training schedule to get me to that Jersey Shore Relay 6mile leg that I have to do. I know I'll be perfectly fine, it just sounds so daunting!

I also finally got both my tax refund checks in the mail so I think I'll be heading to the running store today to pick up a Garmin Forerunner 405. :cool1: I'm a sucker for exercise gadgets and I've been eyeing this one for a really long time. Now that it's Mac compatible, I can actually buy it! Plus I get a 10% discount for being a VIP member at the running store by me (http://www.roadrunnersports.com/ they're fabulous and have a great online store so check them out if you need anything!) so that helps out a bit too.

Thanks Bryan! *hugs* for Liz! Good luck on the sanity too Bryan. I hate when life gets in the way of things I want to do. Sounds like you're doing great though.

haha...as long as the ride was pretty! :) Keep up the swimming! I keep saying I have to start and that it's good for me but I feel like a spaz in the pool. :confused3

Hello there Triple D's!!

It is so hard to believe that we are already in the month of March. The year is flying by. Jenn Thank you for the warm thoughts for me with the issues that I am dealing with right now. I can't say that they have gotten any better as of yet but part of that is me. I have to figure out how I am going to finally take care of all of the issues. Once things have calmed down and are worked out, I am sure that I will be back to my normal, crazy self.

My gym time and mileage is pretty good though for this week. I know I won't be able to beat Rich, which is totally fine with me, but I am pretty happy with the way my running is progressing. I am very confident that I will officially break that 3 hour mark this time. The other 2 times I was close but I really didn't train for the races the way I should have. This time I am committed to doing better so I am in full training mode.

Do you know what I just realized? It has been a while since we have had a movie quote so here is one for you all to have fun with.
Hey Hot Shot! Just what does Astronaut mean anyway?
Star Voyager! Star Voyager. I like the sound of that.

This is an easy one but it is another one of my favorite movies.

Hope everyone is doing well this week. Let's keep flying high Ducks!!!

Bryan:cheer2: :woohoo: :yay:

Helloooooo, Ducks! I just wanted to spread my wings a little and see how my favorite fowls are doing. You all had an awesome month, filled with lots of good times and accomplishments. I'm sure the miles and minutes are the least of them. :goodvibes

Thanks for the update on Liz. Give her my well wishes! I know she's having an extensive recovery, and would expect it given her surgery. I'm sending PD her way. And today's run was for her too. Betsy, could you add 3.1 miles and 45 minutes to Liz's total? (That includes my a warm-up and cool-down, btw, although I don't track mileage for that.) It's a token, really, a trifle, but I want Liz to know I'm thinking of her.

Bryan: Not that you asked me, but my birthday is April 6th. And I'll tell everyone ad nauseum. Erica and I share a love of our special days. It's probably because I love cake so much. You can bet I'll be back here to celebrate YOUR special day and it goes on my Google calendar! (Be warned, everyone, I'm taking notes on all of you!)

Now, on to your struggles. First, for your personal issues. Second, :cool1: for having your goals in place and for moving toward them. Third, how about I come over to your place and give you a good "talking to" for not focusing on your many, many accomplishments? Remember how very special you are--or we'll keep telling you.

Erica: Oh, wait? Did you just have a birthday? I don't seem to recall... :rotfl2: Oh, and what are you working on RIGHT NOW? ;) (How have your committee meetings been going.)

Tricia: I think I probably missed you on the weekly thread, but I hope your PH rocks!

Rich: WTG with your race in every state goal! Is that any distance? A particular order?

Augie: Sagitarius, huh? We Aries are supposed to very compatible with you.... And there are a lot of you here. Party!

Kira: Wow, you've got quite a few races planned there. Have you compared this year's daytimer with last year's? I think your race schedule really amped up this year. :thumbsup2

Jenn: Congrats on signing up! I'd love to hear more about relays. DOOD is running his first one this year, and it sounds like a lot of fun, but also a little stressful in getting the right mix of people together. And your 44 week calendar made me smile--gotta get me one of those! (I wish I were as organized as you.) Keep us updated on the Garmin, too, as I keep eyeing one now that there's Mac compatibility.

Carol: Congratulations on turning 40 this year! It's a great time, and I hope you make the entire year a celebration!

Betsy: Great advice to Ronda, and I love how your post stresses the goals and work of all team members! Some of your teammates--*cough, cough, Bryan*--are too hard on themselves. As for you, woo hoo with the return to swimming. I bet you're just taking right back to it like--wait for it--a duck to water. Are you registered for a tri at the beginning of the season?

Ronda: WTG with your progression through C25K. Love the program, love the success stories.

Lisa: Woot woot! Birthday in WDW over marathon weekend? (Um, bring cake?) That's memory making! Take care of that tendonitis!

As for me: Now I'm thinking birthday cake for some reason. Off in search of a sweet, low-calorie nosh. Hope to see you at 'Ohana's Monday Mixer!

Hello duckies! This has been a slow week for me mileage wise, due to the weather I have zero miles. The snow really made a mess of the roads, but they are getting better. I did start riding to work this morning, but as Erica could confirm, it was near single digits here. I got almost a mile out and decided it was a bit too cold. Hopefully tomorrow will be a little warmer, and I will give it another shot.

But, on a good note, I registered for the half tonight. So Liz, I am counting on you to be there!!

Bryan, I will take a wild guess and say The Right Stuff. Or maybe the astronaut movie (which I have forgotten the name of) with Clint Eastwood and Tommy Lee Jones?

Jenn: Congrats on signing up! I'd love to hear more about relays. DOOD is running his first one this year, and it sounds like a lot of fun, but also a little stressful in getting the right mix of people together. And your 44 week calendar made me smile--gotta get me one of those! (I wish I were as organized as you.) Keep us updated on the Garmin, too, as I keep eyeing one now that there's Mac compatibility.

Thanks! It's really fun...I've done them the past two years but have only ran the 3.5 and 4.2 mile legs. Our gym usually gets at least 3 or 4 teams together and the owner is great about matching people up. There's usually one speed racer team and then the slower teams. It's all about just finishing and having a great time doing it. Then someone usually throws a party for the gang at their house. Always a great day.

Ha, my friend laughed at my 44 week calendar too. I'm way too organized! The official training starts Monday. :)

As for the Garmin..it's charging RIGHT NOW! I bought it today! If ANYONE is looking to get one and has a mac, let me know and I'll point you to the right site for all the programs and stuff. Apparently their website is SO confusing. I was lead to one link saying that it's ONLY PC compatible...and only gave the newest PC program for the Garmin. I knew that was wrong so I kept digging and after about 15 minutes, FINALLY found the links for the Mac version of alllll the software. And I like to think I'm pretty computer savvy. Even when I bought the 405, the guy at the running store asked me how tech savvy I was b/c it's pretty confusing. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet though so I'll come back with a review soon. :thumbsup2

Hey there Duckies....How is it going??

Looks like you all are doing great and getting in some awesome miles and times!!!

Keep up the great work and keep and eye on my friend Bryan!! Make sure he stays on target and keep reminding him he is a great leader!!

Bryan, you know what I think!! Sorry about all the issues!

Warrior Tracy

Ahoff You are correct. It was The Right Stuff. I told you it was an easy one. I may have to watch that movie again tonight. (Did I ever mention that I was a Space Nut?)

Debra No, not me. I am not too hard on myself. Am I? I don't mean to be. Can I train that out of me while I am at the gym??? By the way, the duck to water line was hilarious. Thanks for coming by.

Tracy Yes, I do know what you think. I hope you have a great time at Disney!!

Jenn I will have to agree with Debra. You are very organized. That's cool. Hope you enjoy that new toy.

I am heading off to bed. Look forward to talking more to everyone tomorrow.

Have a great night!
Bryan

Bryan I have the utmost confidence you'll break the three hour mark. If this is at the WDW half I'll meet you at the finish line and we will have some drinks to celebrate your personnal achievement. I don't know the movie qoute I'm stumped.

Betsy what are your average finish times. I want to do the ironman. I'm like you slow and steady to the finish. My brothers friend says that there is a financial commitment to get the equipment needed to do it.

Debra not sure about length of races. It will probaly depend on what I can run when vactioning some times. We will be in yellowstone this sumer so I was surfing the other day to see if there are any races.

Jenn Congrats on signing up for the relay.

Hey y'all! I didn't realize a new thread had been started for March, or I would have posted sooner...Sorry about that! Thankfully someone pointed me in the right direction. That's what I love about these boards, but especially WISH...everyone is so darn nice, so matter how stupid of a question I ask, someone is always so nice in answering!!
I had posted this on the other thread, but I'll post it here again just because I'm so excited....The DH and are I running in our first race tomorrow...It's a 5K, and my nephew's school is putting it on to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It's kinda cool because it's the same elementary school that I went to, so it makes me proud to participate!
And speaking of dumb questions, I have one...The numbers that you get to wear on your shirt...how do those stick to you? I know, it's a really dumb question, but I really have no idea!

And thanks to those who who sent Pixie Dust to my Dad...He's doing great, so far!:wizard:

Lastly...just to answer the question about the birthdays...Mine's 08/29. I'll be turning the big 3-0 this year, and I'm glad that I'm finally running in my first 5K since that was my goal--to run in one before I turn 30!

Have a great weekend y'all!

glad you found your way over here! Not a dumb question at all...they should provide you safety pins to pin the race number to your shirt. :) Just don't poke yourself when you put the number on! :scared1:

That's why I have pinned the race number on before I put on the shirt. Otherwise, I would definitely stick myself.

Bryan

Okay, boy do I feel behind the times!:rotfl2: I've been posting on the old thread, didn't realize this is Triple D's new March thread.
It's been a great week for walking outside, warm and mostly sunny. Now mind you, most days we had 25 mph winds, but it IS Kansas and that's expected.

Oh, yes...my birthday is Sept. 21, a Virgo. My 55th birthday last year. :goodvibes

I hope I'm posting this on the right thread!
Total miles/minutes for week ending March 7:
580 minutes 27 miles

Sharon Great job for the week and yes, this is the right place for the posts. I am glad that you found the thread. If I hadn't heard from you soon, I was going to send you a PM to make sure that you were ok.

My Update Ok everyone! I hope you have had a fantastic week. Mine started off good with the workouts and then I developed a back problem where I had to miss a couple of days and then I finished up somewhat strong tonight. But my totals are still a little lower than what I was hoping for.

Miles - 90
Hours - 12

Betsy I have an extra 5 miles and 1 hour that I did that I want you to give to Liz. I know her schedule is to be back on the team in April but I don't want her to go with nothing until then. Thanks for doing that for me.

Look forward to hearing how everyone is doing! Don't forget to change your clocks!

Bryan:woohoo:

Just wanted to drop in and post our totals for the week:
Me- 2.5 hours-11 miles
Lugnut-2.5 hours-11.5 miles

We made it through our 5K yesterday!! I had set a goal of 45 min, and Lugnut thought I was crazy. He didn't think we would finish that fast, but I think he was calling my bluff because he finished in 41 minutes! I'm really proud of him. I was 3 minutes over, but that's okay. Maybe I can do it next weekend!

Hope eveyone has a great week!
