Hi everyone! I finally feel like I'm back in a regular schedule, and my miles are over 2 digits for the first time in several months. Here you go:
Running:
Miles - 11
Minutes - 144

I also got in 2 sessions of Pilates! So can add:
Core training - 60 minutes

This is my best week since the the Donald, and I plan to keep it up for this week. I had a disappointing run this morning. My daughter was biking along with me, and she had issues with mud and asthma, so we didn't end up doing the 5 miles I had planned. Still - got some steps in, and it was good to get her out there in the spring weather. Next time we'll be better prepared.

Have a great week!

Hello 3D's! The last few days here have been gorgeous, sunny and warm, though it did start to lightly rain just now. Unfortunatly I couldn't take advantage of it to add any miles, and the weather earlier in the week kept me down to just one day, which was Friday, which was a ride to work and a lunchtime ride to the bike shop, for a total of 39 miles and 2 hrs, 20 minutes. I would also like to contribute some of that to Liz too! She can have my commute!

Good job on the 5K, M&M!

Has anyone here done the EE Challange? That looks like it would be fun to do.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Augie

Mental Health Day

We all know that our mental-health days are just as important as our workouts, recovery days, and proper fueling. So, Monday's question for the 'Ohana mixer, which starts here on the team thread, is....

If you had an unexpected free day--no work or other obligations--and $20 to spend just on you, what would you do?

So please share those small indulgences that are essential to your mental well-being. Hopefully, we'll get new ideas and find kindred souls.

There are three little rules. Just because.

  1. You have to spend at least part of the $20 on you. No giving it away, no saving it for a rainy day, and no spending the $20 entirely on your beloved partner, cute kidlets, or BFF. You can spend time with these folks, of course, and some of the money. But the focus is on YOU and what you want to do.
  2. You can choose to work out, if you wish, or your mental health day can coincide with a recovery day.
  3. What you do on your mental health day has to reflect your everyday, local life. No "I just happened to be in Paris..." :rotfl2: You can imagine, however, that you have perfect weather.

As usual, full stories that are related to your mental-health day are welcome. Not to mention the odd digression! And you're always welcome to bring drinks, goodies, and profound thoughts on the meaning of life.

Well, if you want profound thoughts, I guess that means I can't come out and play.:lmao: Of course I will be there but I will be late (as per usual) since I don't usually get home from the gym until after 7:30 or so.

Mike and Missy Awesome job on your first 5k. You stayed true to yourself and that is something to be proud of. When I did my first last year, I got caught up with some of the runners and even though I had really trained to walk most of it, I ended up jogging most of it. I was able to PR the race but I was sore for days because I hadn't done what I had trained to do. I think you will find this more rewarding and motivating.

Kira Sorry to hear about your daughter's bout with asthma today. I am so impressed by you still getting in some mileage even if it wasn't you had set out to do. Congratulations on getting back up to double digits too!!

Augie and Rich You guys ROCK!!! I know what it is going to mean to Liz to know that her team is thinking about her while she is down. I am going to try to talk to her again tomorrow to see how she is doing and to inform her of all of the love and generosity that is being bestowed upon her. I can't thank you enough for being so sweet to my twin!!!:worship: :woohoo: :cheer2:

Today, for me, was my off day. I had to go to work and did a lot of lifting and moving and such while I was there but I took the day off from the gym and the track. But I will be back tomorrow with avengance. What is it they say? "What don't kill you only makes you stronger!"

Now, I think we need another movie quote so here we go: "225 Colonel. Can you do that? Oh heck yes! Will you spot me? (Lots of grunting.) Man, you were really working over there. Well, anything worth doing.... I'm going to go back to my room now and cry."

Anybody want to take a guess at this one?

Have a GREAT week Triple D's!!!
Bryan:thumbsup2 :grouphug: :cheer2:

OK I need help...on so many levels...but that's whole other thread!!

I mentioned before I have a little tendonitis thing happening with my right knee. It's smack dab in the middle on the back of my knee. On a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 5. I can't tell if it's more hamstring or calf driven either way when it started happening the entire backside of my leg from top to bottom started getting tight at the 7.5 mile mark of an 8 mile walk/run about 2 weeks ago.

I took two weeks off which fit into my training schedule so it wasn't a big deal, doing slow short walks (16 minute miles), lifting and biking. Nothing fast, I was down to a 14 minute mile when this happened by the way. Not like that's fast or any thing lets just be clear there! I also stretch much more than I use to, ice and take Motrin. My knee/leg doesn't hurt during my workouts just before and after especially when I've been sitting for long periods of time. I have a desk job so that happens alot but when I've been up walking the halls, the parking lot and other various places it's fine.

After two weeks I felt great no pain other than a little stiffness occasionally after sitting for long periods of time so I did 5 miles yesterday afternoon and it felt great and was such a relief to actually do something. But now I'm back to a 5 on a scale of 10 in discomfort.

Does anyone have any tricks or surefire methods of treating this kind of injury besides what I'm already doing? Anyone else deal with this before? Am I not being patient enough? I have the whole year planned out as far as training and this is definitely messing with my schedule! I'm not OCD so I'll survive but it is frustrating and does make me worry more than I already do.

Oh and apparently this type of injury happens alot to "middle age" people. When the h*ll did I become middle age? :scared1: Excuse my language but my parents are middle age not me! I am frustrated and I just want to go but I can't because apparently I have to slow down and wait for my middle aged body to catch up?!?!

Any advice, suggestions, condolences and observations would be welcomed.

Thanks in advance

Just wanted to check in and post that I am back from the Princess half. Did pretty well - 2:32 finish time. I ran most of the race with Carrie and it was so nice having someone to run with. I was so grateful. I have a whole race report typed out but it ended up being 5 pages long:scared1: so I may have to trim it down before posting.

Hi, Team!

I lost my training schedule, where I had things written down. As best as I can recall, I did:
1.1 miles swimming/1:00
23.8 miles bike/1:40
6 ish miles run/1:00
PT :50

Total 30.9 miles/4.5 hours

I have no idea if that is right. It got to be a long end of the week/weekend. I was working out of town the last 2 weeks, and really got out of a routine. 12 days of work in a row will do that to ya! Also, I travelled on Saturday...getting up super early...changing 2 time zones, then losing another hour with the time change, so I was 3 hours off and pretty much jet-lagged. So I didn't do my biking I meant to do. Oh, well. The good news is that my swimming is coming back!!

Rich...I'm not fast at Ironman...times between 14 and 16 hours (the cut-off is 17). This past year was the first time I've been over 16, and it better be the only time!

Lisa...not sure what to tell you about your leg....I know that's frustrating. Have you seen someone about it?

TNTsParty...great job on the Princess! Go ahead and post the long RR! that never stopped me before!
Spreadsheet is updated for now....still waiting on a few posts!

MrsPotts I wish I had some advice for you but I have almost the same problem with my knees! I feel like I have the knees of a 70 year old woman! :( I just went AGAIN to the running store today so that they can help me pick the best sneakers and inserts. I hate it! Have you gone to a sports doctor?

oops...forgot to put my totals for this week. pretty sad though because I was still in vacation mode and was in NO mood to do ANYTHING! This upcoming wee though is a whole new training schedule though!

7miles and 90 minutes

Hey Ducks!

We are having a Dog Show (by suggestion of Jship!) tomorrow at Hakuna Matata! Post your photos of your favorite dog or dogs! If you don't have a photo post a favorite story, happy, scary, Lassie-like or what ever!! Can't wait to meet your pups!!!

See ya tomorrow!
Connie

Looks like a nice day here, the sun is out, which counts for a lot, right?

Bryan, sorry, no clue on your quote, sounds like some weightlifting going on, maybe a Rocky movie?

Mrs Potts, hope your knee is feeling beter, not sure what to say about it. I get occaisional twinges in my left, but maybe it is the cold. Mine is more near the front, and Advil helps, of course. Something about the middle ages, I guess:)

So, what is a good time for the Half? They wanted to know what you would do, and have proof in the registtration process. Never having run that far before, I was not sure what to put down. I thnk I put 2:45, but hopefully I can do better than that. I am figuring a half is about four 5K's?

Hope everyone is having a good week!

Hello Ducks :wave2:

First let me thank everyone for the kind wishes
for a speedy recovery and
a super thanks for donating miles/hrs!
It really cheered me up to see the support here!
Thanks lil bro for checking up on me

I'm hanging in there.
I was suppose to go back to work last Thurs, but
the doctor has me out until 3/30 and no gym until
May 1st, but I can start walking again as I feel
up to it. I'm hoping my trip on the 20th will brighten
my spirits and help me heal quicker. I'm feeling better
physically every day, but the mental stress of being
injured for so long is really taking a toll on me.
I'm sure a little Florida sun will help!
I'm restricted to an hr on my feet at a time, but
I'd rather have my feet up on a lounge chair in the
sun, than stuck in my house :thumbsup2

I can't wait to get back to my happy wogging self again!

Keep up the great work Duckies!
(Augie take the loooooong way to work :lmao: )

Thanks again everyone!
~Liz :hippie:

btw - :worship: very impressive miles Rich!
It would take me about an extra 5 hrs at my
15 min pace to cover your running distance last week!

Hey Liz!! Welcome back! :)

So I wanted to good news!!! I booked a trip in Sept '09 for my mom and I to head back down to the world! We're going to do the last week in Sept since we had a 40% off pin, and it'll be my bday, and hopefully not too hot for mom. I'm still not 100% sure that we're going to go BUT I wanted to reserve it before March 31st, when the offer ends. We can always cancel if plans fall through. I only booked a room and it ended being like $400 for 7 nights at Pop. It's crazy! I wish I could have splurged and stayed at POFQ but we'll see. I can still always change it next week or something. Plus I'll be getting an annual pass for myself since I'll be back in January for the marathon.

yayyyy!

Ok...back to the regular scheduled program.... hopefully I'll be running today!

Sorry I have been so lax in reporting my totals--but here we go

week of 2/15-2/21--12.5 miles and 5.5 hours
week of 2/22-2/28--11 miles and 4.5 hours
week of 3/1-3/7--3 miles and 2.5 hours

I just can't get going--but I am off to a good start this week. Hope I can keep it up.

Just made ressies for Jan, now all I have to do is some training for the half:)

I'm hoping my trip on the 20th will brighten
my spirits and help me heal quicker.

Hey Liz, I will just miss you if the 20th is in May.

We're going to do the last week in Sept since we had a 40% off pin, and it'll be my bday, and hopefully not too hot for mom.

That is also the same weekend as the Everest Challange.

Don't forget to hop over to guest service at one of the parks on your birthday and get your gift. Since you will have an annual pass, a 1 day pass wouldn't be good for you, but you can also choose a $75 gift card, or I think a couple of other options. But IMHO the $75 gift card is the best!

Sign up for Expedition Everest!!! I plan on doing it this year and will be nice to have other team members there. :goodvibes

Crazy weather here.....2 days ago it was 65 and sunny, today it's 25 and overcast. I'm missing Florida!

Uhoh...Everest Challenge?! :) Now you guys got me thinking... hmmmmm! *wanders off to go do some reaserch*

******** ok so i just looked everything up.... sadly I don't think I'll be able to do it. It's the first day we arrive and... umm..I don't have a teammate! Although I know it mentions that you can do it solo, I don't think it'll be easy to pull of on my first day. :(
