The March 2014 Thread!!!!

We had sticker shock as well with the Southwest flights. I got up the morning the flights were release for our return trip home on the 8th. The flight prices literally jumped up when I refreshed the page. Within a few hours, all of the less expensive flights were sold out. We have flown from NOLA to Orlando the past five years and I have never seen the flights near this much.

Wow, I never realized how much plane tix could add to the cost of a trip. I'm. It going to complain about the & hour drive anymore. I hope some good deals come your way!

Oh yeah… If you are more than a day's drive away, the cost of GETTING to WDW is half the problem!

I will say this, we had a lot of luck using rapid reward points for flight. We also got the rapid rewards credit cards while they were doing the 50,000 points. We do not normally do credit cards, but we already have enough points to pay for our tickets! (It helps that we fly a lot as is)

Yes airfare can be a killer. I think my price point is about $400 a ticket........I got 2 for $635 so just a little over $300 each. I was prepared to pay more. I would drive, and we have before, but this time its just me and my 12 year old daughter and even though I have a new-ish car (2010), I still dont feel comfortable driving 10 hours, just the 2 of us. And it so much more convenient to just fly, you get there in under 2 hours and have much more park time. Next time we go in the summer, we may drive since we will have more time off and be able to take our time if we want to.

We did the same thing! I was able to get all of our tickets flying down there with the points. Still cost about $1000 oop for the ones coming back though. Probably the most I've paid for airfare to FL, at least in a long while. If we had been able to go the week before or after, it would have cost about 1/3 of what it did. Talk about supply and demand, lol!

We sucked it up and booked early this time and got the business select seats for the insane price of $2400 for 4 of us. Anybody else leaving out of NOLA on March 1? Not counting my leaving and going back home days, my sister and I will be in Disney from March 21-30.

Does anyone have any idea when the new daytime parade is supposed to debut? I read "Spring 2014" from various websites but "Spring" could mean anything from March to June.

I'm crossing my fingers that it will be ready by the time we go (same week as you), but I haven't heard a date. I'm just so glad that splash will be back up and running by then!

Normally we would be leaving that Saturday morning but this year, we are leaving the night before, the 28th.But we are coming home the dame day I see.......maybe we are on the same flight home?

We are flying out of NOLA on the 1st also. I originally booked Anytime fare and then checked back a few days later and they had opened up additional Wanna Get Away fares which saved us over $800 for the 6 of us. We had to give up the early flight but the 11:15 flight still puts us there in enough time to make our dining reservations.

VERY excited to visit this March 14..we haven't been for about seven years and are bringing DS 16, DS 12, DD 3 and DD 1...If flights do not go down and we don't get a discount on our room I'll have to switch to a cheaper resort...we want to be close to MK, not sure what to do???

Historically they have!! I have heard there is a FD pin floating around though!
