LIGHTS! CAMERA! ACTION!!
After a long day the day before a lie in was definitely needed......no chance! Were at DLRP we can sleep when we get home! So up at 7am it is and quickly switch on Tele Matin to see if we can figure out what the weather is going to be like. We got ready and jumped on the train. We arrived at the resort for 8.15! We walked over towards the Studios and showed our APs to get through the temporary setup they had in place well before the main Studio entrance. We waited outside for the AP entrance time DW was the very first person in the park! A quick but dignified (take note Crush!) walk around to TSPL included walking past the entrance to Crush with this time up.....if only!
We were held at the entrance to TSPL for two minutes and then we were all let in (I say all, there was hardly much of a crowd). We walked through the awesome queue line for RC and found ourselves in the front row of the first RC launch of the day. The ride was short but much more exciting than I imagined it was going to be.
DW wisely suggested we get some pics with Rex with so few people about and as Slinky was down we took a trip on the Parachute Drop. This ride is so clever and well done. You get some lovely views of the park as well. Since it wasnt that busy we decided to do RC Racer again.
CMs were assisting Buzz and Mickey who were filming a commercial for the new land so we got lots of pics of them shooting it.
As we were walking around the area we noticed Parachute Drop wasnt running 3 people were stuck (at ground level thankfully) with the CMs trying to get the lapbar up with no joy. I hope they werent stuck too long and were handed some nice fastpasses when they eventually got them off!
We decided to head over to Crush before the mad rush began at 9.30. We waited patiently in the queue but just after 10am it was clear that Crush was having some major problems so everyone left the queue and we strolled over to grab a fastpass for Tower of Terror. It was time to grab some breakfast so we nipped into Studio 1 and grabbed 2 Tea Times (our breakfast most mornings a Mickey brioche/donut and a coffee). We took a walk up to Rock & Roller Coaster and DW kindly waited for me whilst I rode on my own. I do love this ride! As I came out it was just about time for Lights, Motors, Action to start so we got in just in time to watch this fab show.
We came out via the back of the Tram Tour and went into TSPL. Poor Slinky was still feeling dizzy (Disney speak for not currently operating) so we decided to have a look in the Barrel OMonkeys shop which is cleverly done.
The new Paris style street looks fab so we went this way and headed into Toon Studios where Mickey and Buzz were out. Crush was still down (thank goodness we hadnt hung around!). We walked through the shop in Studio 1 and saw too many cool things we wanted to buy. We then went into the big shop at the entrance to the Studios. As we came out Minnie was standing away from her main location and we got some nice pics with her.
We walked back through Studio 1 to the Information Board. I was pleased to see my fav pin shop near to ToT was open so we had a look in here. It was now time to use our Tower fastpass but before that, we grabbed hold of another one to use later. We enjoyed our stay at the Hollywood Tower and finished off with a look around the shop.
It was time to have some lunch so we thought wed head out to the Village and went to one of our favs Annettes. We both made use of the fab deal they offer which includes drink and tasty brownie.
Once we were finished, we took a walk up to see the new Starbucks coffee shop. We saw there were lots of pin traders out so we went and had a look around and spoke to some lovely CMs. It was time to head back into the Studios and we went straight to the Information Board. We went past the Art of Animation building and saw our CM friend Vikki who was escorting Jafar around the park. We went into TSPL and queued for Slinky which actually moved really quickly. It said 45 minutes but it was only about 25.
We then went over via Tower of Terror to the Production Courtyard. We went over to see Stitch and with a full crowd of people around him he grabbed both me and Ruth and ran away with us across the Courtyard!! It was very funny and the nice CM kindly took some pics for us.
Since we had such a fun interaction, it was only right that we visited Stitch Live which was funny as always. We went over in front of Crush to the start of the parade and watched Stars & Cars.
Once it passed through we raced over to Tower of Terror and again used our fastpass to ride. We popped back out of the Studios via the small camera shop at the front and headed to the Village for the Pin Trading event.
We spent a good time speaking to CMs but sadly missed out on getting the event pins. We went into the Animation shop and got some Toy Story Vinylmations. We got 2 Buttercups!!
We then did a swap with a nice CM for another (one of the Cutesters that DW fell in love with). Once done there we headed to Disneyland Park and grabbed a spot on Main Street for the parade which was fab. We watched it from just outside Harringtons as I love the Villains float. There was a small problem with the Villains float as it seemed to be stuck for a while but they got it moving in the end. We then dived into Harringtons to avoid the parade rush and I managed to get the Toy Story Vinylmation I wanted Lotso! It was time to watch the New Generation show again we love it!
There was a little bit of rain falling now and we headed into Discoveryland. We took a walk through Videopolis and grabbed a seat for a few minutes to watch Boundin. We then walked into Fantasyland and right over to Pirates which was a walk on. We carried on our tour of the park and walked over via Big Thunder and on to Phantom Manor which was also a walk on. Our walking was catching up with us now so we nipped down the secret alley in Frontierland to the Liberty Arcade. It was time to say goodnight to DLRP once again so we hopped on the RER and were back in no time in our hotel. We decided to have food at our hotel that night and it was tasty and reasonably priced. Another fabulous day in which we enjoyed our first experience of TSPL. All in, we think its very well themed and the rides better than we expected.
