~The Man Report 2006~~~~~End & Summary~~~~~Lots of Pictures

Yes a trip report laced with healthy doses of testosterone (insert grunting sounds here) pirate: pirate:

I still don't leave for WDW for another 70 hours so forgive me for starting this thread WAY too early. Lesson learned.

But! I need your help…

Last night our Schwan's guy showed up and asked if we needed anything. Since we never let anyone know we are leaving on vacation, we ordered our usual: 2 boxes of Bagel Dogs.

Now for those that don't know, the Schwan's Bagel Dog is one of the few culinary delights, laced with toxic preservatives and horribly bad for you, that our family partakes in. One person in particular, me, loves them maybe a little too much. :thumbsup2

We try to avoid trips to McDonalds, Wendy’s, and Taco Bell simply because we know that what is served there barely fits the description of food.

But the Bagel Dog is just pure awesomeness in its truest form. So, I get the brilliant idea to take a box with us to Walt Disney World. I mean come on! We’re already taking dishwashing detergent, a photo printer, duct tape, and all kids of other crud. What’s the difference if we add one more little box of yummy goodness?

Well, you probably already know the answer I received from “Linnie the Pooh-head”, NO!. She thinks I’m nuts. She went off on this whole rant about “…we’re not taking your stupid bagel dogs...” & “…if you want them so bad, you can buy them at Goodings…”.

Well, many of you who read this and are now on my side understand that Bagel Dogs from Goodings are in no way comparable to the perfected Schwan's Bagel Dog that is delivered to your door every other week.

So please, speak up, and help me overturn the ruthless decision handed down by her majesty, Queen Linnie the Pooh-head. I’ve only got 72 hours left then we have to zip up the bag and hit the airport. I need my Bagel Dogs!!

 :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:  :cool1:

hahahahahahahahaha. You are one of the efw people who actually make me laugh out loud. You husbands and your food! We're also in training right now and there is NO junkfood in our house- what so ever. So what does my fiance do? Walk around with a jar of peanut butter, a spoon, and the one package of marshmallows we have left- and finishes all!!!! It seems to me that you two might get along!

Wait a minute... you're flying? I assumed you were driving, what with all of the stuff you're taking. Oh yeah, you did mention being able to identify the luggage at the baggage claim. Nevermind. I'm sorry to say that I'm with your wife on the bageldog thing though. What are you going to do? Chow down on bageldogs while everyone eats at a restaurant? Remember now, it's about family unity! Extinguish that manly "It's all about me" attitude right now! Take one for the team and put the bageldogs back in the freezer. It'll be something to look forward to when you get back, and will fortify you for the immediate resumption of subsequent trip planning! I'm loving your reports so far. Please keep them coming! :rotfl:

Okay MDF I’m afraid that my DW and I have to agree with Linnie the Pooh here, you are going to a place that has more great places to eat then any whe….

Okay, my DW finally left the room so let’s get down to the truth…..I am with you and can image coming back after a hard day at the park and sitting down to a nice Bagel-Dog.

So here would be my suggestion… Give into Linnie the Pooh’s request and leave the dogs at home, but it would not be your fault if some how a box of the Bagel dogs got packed on dry-ice and shipped to your resort. I’m sure you have a local buddy that feels your pain in this and would help out.

Oopps here comes the wifey

So as we were saying leave them at home and enjoy all the great food at the world

Well. I have to say, please leave the bagel-dogs home. Frozen food shouldn't travel.

But, one TU :thumbsup2 for the bagel dogs -- they led me straight here, to your report. Who can pass up a title like that? :rotfl2:

Can't wait to enjoy the rest of this report!! Have a great trip!

I have never in my life even heard of a bagel dog, let alone travel with one. :confused3

Sorry Bud, I'm with your wife on this one. I actually ate (read: "was assaulted by") :sad2: a bagel dog in the Dallas airport once. And, as God is my witness, it'll never happen again.

It's official-the bageldogs are staying HOME! We are not taking those.

On another note, I was getting ready to make breakfast this morning and had just set the coffee. We have the kind of machine that grinds it first, then makes it into coffee. It started grinding and that's when I heard MDF making the same whirring sound as the coffee grinder. Only when it shut off, he kept making the noise for a few minutes. He's been annoying me all day ever since. This is going to be a looooong trip. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Oh my gosh, he's still talking about taking the bagel dogs right now as I type this!!!!! Help me!!!! Now he's talking about having his company ship them down there and that way, "they'd be in the room when we get back from the parks." Yeah, that's what I'm afraid of. Loooong week it's going to be!!

Looking forward to your report...and curious to see if the bagel dogs "somehow" make their way into your bag. :bitelip:

okay...I'm definately in. I think this is going to be a fun TR! Especially with Linnie the pooh writing her own posts after yours. Neat idea. Neat family.

I have absolutely no idea what Bagel Dogs are. Please explain or posting a pic would be even better.

I also wanted to give my sympathies to you Linnie for the loss of your grandma and your father. My heart goes out to you. I too lost my mom this year and it's been tough. *hugs to you*

My great aunt and uncle, used to pack bologna, cheese and sausage made in Wisconsin, back to their home in Florida. This was the late 60's, early 70's. I used to think they were nuts when I was little. I always wondered if it got yucky. Now that I think of it, it probably had so many preservatives in it, there was no way it rotted in their luggage. I remember them wrapping it up in white paper, and putting it amongst their clothes. There must have been rules about not having food in luggage.

So, is a bagel dog anything like a Pretzel Dog? Sounds dangerous and addicting! Yeah, a pic would be helpful!

For a mere $11.99, you can get a box of (8) yummy and nutritious Schwan's Bagel Dogs. Behold, the Bagel Dog in all its glory!!

Goofster, that was a fantastic post. I dang near spit my water thru my nose!! :rotfl2: BTW: I am considering your advice but my wife is really against it for some reason.

Doug, the Bagel Dogs at the Dallas Airport are not made by Schwan's and so you cannot possibly compare them. Please be careful before making such rash statements. :thanks:

OhMari that is so funny. It's so true tho. I don't need to pack the bagel dogs in dry ice or anything. You simply cannot destroy a bagel dog unless you eat it. Even then I'm not so sure... Try this: Cook a bagel dog and put it outside for 10 days. When you come back, it will still look brand new except maybe for some dirt or dust. They don't even decompose! It's so awesome!!!

Oh, and Linnie the Pooh-head, we are going down for 12 days, not a week. Sheeeesh! :love2:

By the way, you can purchase Schwan's Bagel Dogs on Amazon.com. I'm not EVEN joking!!

4-14-2006 – Book National rental car (SUV) special for $350 for 11 days. Argue with reservations agent for 10 minutes about my coupon. She finally gets the manager, as I’m obviously not going to give up. After much confusion, he finally just gives me the rate. Why does everything have to be so difficult?

4-14-2006 – Three Hours Later – Looking thru my very well organized Vacation folder, I realize my rental car coupon is for Hertz, not National. Oops. Well, got the price anyway. :teeth:
That's hilarious. :teeth:

Marakesh – Who wouldn’t look forward to a little scantly clad, belly-dancing and lamb-on-a-stick?
Learning about other countries & cultures is educational. ::yes::

Chef Mickey’s – Yet another buffet. We will starve our children prior to this meal then turn them loose like freed badgers.
:lmao:

Artist’s Point – Why not? It’ll be like the Beverly Hillbillies showing up at the Met.
....& I heard you can get a table overlooking the "Cement Pond". :fish:

Looking forward to reading more.

My name is Linnie The Pooh, not Linnie the Pooh-head.

 I have a sinus infection today. Hopefully it's gone in 2 days!

blue-river, Thank you for the condolences. It's been a very hard year. Vacation is sounding better all the time. Without bagel dogs, that is.

I was all for saying bring those dogs...until I saw the picture....YUCK!! It remind me of the time I was so hungry I tried pretzel dogs at Auntie Annes...BIG MISTAKE!!!

MDF,
After seeing the picture I definitely say you have to get them there somehow. If you eat one or two of those every night you will be able to cruise the parks all the next day.

I can write this with confidence since I am at work and my wife is not looking over my shoulder.

Also I am on my way to Amazon.com tonight.
