I finally got a Buxom Lip Gloss! I got Betsy. A male Sephora employee helped me pick out my color. I think he did a great job! I'm not sure it plumps my lips, I haven't tried a plumping gloss that I actually think really does anything. But I love the way it goes on and I love the color. I never thought I would pick Betsy. :confused3

IMHO GUYS who do hair or make up are the BEST at knowing what is right for women. I think it is becuse they have a more objective eye.

Man, I love the way that gloss feels! It's not all burning and painful like DuWop Venom...just a mild, cool tingle. mmmmmm

A couple of years ago I gave the little Buxom minis gift set to all my girlfriends - hugely successful as a gift!

I LOVE Buxom Lipgloss.

I don't think it really plumps but I love the way it feels, smells, tastes, how it lasts, and the color (Gabby). :thumbsup2

Just got back from Sephora with some Lash Injection & the Buxom Babes Amber & Destiny (love the stripper names) Duo. I am such a sheep.

But, DUDE, this gloss is the business! I tried on Destiny first and it's a great color - very natural, but definitely noticable. Amber is a bit lighter and they both have a great shimmer and very great texture to them - and I will admit to not seeing major plumping action, but I do like this very slight tingle! I actually bought the Tarte Rise & Shine gloss & stain stick duo, but as soon as I checked out, I immediately regretted not getting the Buxom so I grabbed this set. Same price ($18) for the two smaller ones as one full sized one while I thought was a great deal. Anyway, I am a huge fan now (already!), so thanks for the endless recs that everyone kept giving.

I haven't tried the LI yet; I just don't feel like washing up & starting my eyes over at 2pm, but I bought the mini size b/c it was just a purchase for our trip to WDW next week...hoping this is as magic as predicted, b/c I do not want to turn into a raccoon after hours of face-melting heat in MK!

Last item on the list...tracking down the Monistat. Either nobody carries this stuff, or all the ladies in my area are buying it out weekly. :rotfl:

Thank you all for all your contributions! I will have to post pics in all my DIS-sponsored glory soon!

That is the best gift idea! I'll remember that one.

I think it was you that said that before and I actually thought Gabby would be a good color for me, but they didn't have it??? I guess I'll have to get it online. I don't know if they have them in more than one place in the store and I'm missing some of them, but they have WAY less than online.

I had a hard time finding the Monistat in my area too. I finally got it at Target.

Long time lurker on this thread. I just want to give 2 thumbs up to, Garnier Skin Renew, Anti-Puff Eye Roller. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I think it was Imzadi, that said this stuff was great. It is! I had an event to go to tonight and noticed my eyes were a little puffy. I picked up some of that stuff and it worked like a charm. I even remembered to pat over the solution that was applied. :)

Thanks for all that contribute to this thread. It really is good information!

I tried Target, repeatedly. You're right; they were the only ones who carried it, though they were ALWAYS out!

Y'all will never guess where I found it. Bed, Bath & Beyond!! :confused3  I popped in quickly for something else and I noticed they had a whole health & beauty section. It was very odd - but I saw the sign for 'feminine hygiene' and inspected and lo & behold, there it was!! Too freaking weird. They also had the most extensive travel section I'd ever seen - it was awesome! I also got a couple of the Evian Mineral Water Sprays which I'd also been fruitlessly searching for over the last months. I do NOT like BB&B (lawd, it smells like someone lit every single scented candle in the store in there - and that's just the tip of their annoying iceberg), but today was a total freaking winner. :cloud9:

Oh, and I wore the Lash Extension today. It was great! Very soft going on, but completely buildable. It gave me length and volume and I was shopping all over sweaty Miami today with no running, smudging, raccooning. Score! :woohoo:

Hey all :)

Just popping in with some quick make up reviews for you girls. I have tried various products (still looking) in search of finding the "perfect make up" for my skin. I have oily skin and minor acne, and I still haven't found that makeup that really covers everything and stays.

Bare Minerals Starter Kit:
Pros:
1. Great coverage.
2. Healthy for the skin.
3. Beautiul finish, skin is soft.
4. Looks natural, not cakey (well to begin with.)

Cons:
1. Lacks staying powder. (About half way through my day, I need to reapply!)

Overall ranking out of 10: 6

Dream Matte Mouse (Loreal) Foundation/Powder:
Pros:
1. Doesn't look oily!
2. Looks natural.
3. Nice finish.

Cons:
1. Not very good coverage.
2. Is gone by the end of the day.

Overal: 4

Infallible Foundation (I didn't buy the powder as the store did not have my shade)
Pros:
1. Great coverage.
2. Spreads easily, blends easily.
3. Nice finish.

Cons:
1. OILY!
2. Reapplication of a powder is NECESSARY. Like often.

Overall: 3

For myself, and CoverGirl foundation offers to light coverage for my skin.

Superstay Maybelline Foundation:
Pros:
1. Makes skin very soft.
2. Fairly good coverage.

Cons:
1. Silly me bought to dark a shade.
2. Doesn't stay as long as it claims...

Hope this helps (:
If you have any suggestions as to what make up to try for my skin I would be so grateful.

I was thinking about getting some MAC foundation products, concealer and finish plus. I don't know to much about the products, some reviews of MAC products would be awesome!

Hey all :)
I was thinking about getting some MAC foundation products, concealer and finish plus. I don't know to much about the products, some reviews of MAC products would be awesome!

I'd highly recommend MAC Studio Fix Fluid. The coverage is excellent and it has the slightest bit of a powder finish. You can put more powder on it for a finished look or go without if you want. The color range is incredible, too. Depending on how much coverage you want, you could also consider MAC Studio Tech, which is a cream foundation. It will give the fullest coverage of any MAC (non-pro) foundation.

I'd also recommend MAC Blot Powder (pressed, not loose). I don't use it because I have dry skin, but all my MAC artist friends SWEAR by it. And it has great reviews at Makeup Alley.

My perfect foundation is 1/3 Studio Fix Fluid and 2/3 Make Up For Ever Face and Body, though I don't wear it in the summer because it's more of a full-face look and seems "off" in summertime. I will adjust the blend for the coverage I want (adding more Studio Fix for more coverage), OR I adjust the application technique, usually using a MAC 187 duofiber brush but sometimes using a kabuki brush for more coverage.

I'd suggest going to a MAC counter and playing around - have them give you some samples and pick out your shade.

Hope this helps!

Here's a heads up on the Prescriptive brand products:

"In other news, Estee Lauder ***. said late Thursday that it plans to close the global wholesale distribution of its Prescriptives brand by Jan. 31. The beauty company said the brand's long-term business model is no longer viable given the current market environment. The brand plans to continue to sell online in the U.S. while inventory lasts. Outside of the U.S., the products are currently also available in Canada, the U.K., Ireland and Australia. "

If you like a Prescriptives brand product, you had better start buying it up now.

Or maybe stockpiling it to sell on eBay later. :scratchin

Has anyne here tried the 88 color pallette from coastalscents.com? I have read some good reviews about it but am still a little hesitant.

Also has anyone bought anything from ELF.com ? (eyeslipsface.com)

They supposedly have decent products and very nice prices...I am hoping someone has tried them and could give me a review...I love make up...but it doesnt love my wallet so much :( lol

They have the brushes at the dollar stores here. The metal part of every single brush came off the wood handle. I would have thought maybe it was a bad batch with defective glue, but I've bought at different times and in different dollar stores.

The bristles, themselves, worked fine and stayed in the metal part without shedding. But you will need to re-glue each brush handle back on.

I liked the one tube of lip gloss and the one lip pencil I tried.

I haven't tried the 88 yet, but I know several people who use Coastalscents and really like it. haven't heard anything bad yet. Here is a photostream wherein the artist almost always uses the 88 for her looks. She creates some awesome color combos. http://www.flickr.com/photos/pandacat_baby/3921969060/

ELF - well, I've heard alot of bad. If you want cheap brushes, Crown Brush is really good. Weird ordering process, but I like what I got so far. As for their cosmetics, the low price makes me leary. I have super over-sensitive skin and just don't trust it. :)

Maybe I'm just oblivious but does Wal Mart or Target carry MAC products? :confused3

No, MAC is a very high end cosmetic company. You have to go to a MAC counter at a high end department store to get it. MAC is the best. I have a friend who is a professional makeup artist on film & TV sets here and MAC is what most of the professionals makeup artists use on film sets.

She made me up with the MAC foundation and I love it. The liquid foundation very highly pigmented (or something,) yet is very smooth & creamy. It is the ONLY foundation that goes on and makes my skin look flawless, without looking like I have foundation on. I have been getting sun/age spots for a while, & I need a good concealer & foundation, but I don't want to look made up.

Also, the concealer & foundation are the only ones I can use my dark circles under my eyes. Another friend & I went to the various makeup counters & tried on all the different brands. After 10 minutes, all the other brands caked into the fine lines & made me look older! Previously, I either looked like I had dark circles (by not using anything there,) or I looked older with evened out skin tone. Great choice.

I was also leery of using the MAC transparent powder over the foundation, as getting older, I've read women in their 40's should NOT be using powders or the mineral powders. It just sets into the fine lines & creases and makes women look dry, cakey and older. (I have used the Bare Minerals powders and yep, it was too dry for me.) However, the MAC powder really did set the foundation perfectly.

I think part of it was using their big, fluffy brush, too, to lay on & blend in the powder. It's $35  but well worth it. :thumbsup2 The makeup artist taught me there is a technique to applying the powder: to use the side of the brush and gently swipe it on with the sides, not the ends of the bristles.

Oh no! Thanks for the heads up, I think I'll definitely stockpile some stuff.

There is actually a rather large boycott against MAC from professional make up artists. You can google MAC boycott or something and read about it. Don't get me wrong. I am a MAC lover, but more for their lip products and eyeshadow. I use their foundation sometimes but there are other foundations I would recommend over it. I love the Make Up Forever HD foundation. It give crazy coverage and once it sets you feel like your not wearing anything. As a make up artist, I would not use MAC foundations on my clients. I usually use Cinema Secrets for a cream foundation (which is recommended by an Emmy winning make up artist, check out http://inmykit.com) or RCMA or Face Atelier. I do love MAC brushes... They are almost the only brand in my kit.

Darn, I am such a Target girl, I can never find time to make it to the mall or Sephora.
I suppose I could buy them online, but that leaves a lot to chance. I will just have to make time. Should be easier when a break comes up.

Anyways, thank you so much for your help! Now I now what brand I have been missing out on! :thumbsup2
