The Magic, the Memories and the Food! February11 Update July 23 WPuck's Express

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to let you know that I posted a real life update on my PTR. It explains WHY I have been absent from the boards for most of last week.

If you are interested ....... just click here and find out!

I will now go back to answer your posts and then post a new update! :thumbsup2

Well that must be the German in my DH he loves a good roll and apricot jam! :rotfl2: We both are of German desent and love rolls with jam. ( I prefer Strawberrry )

Milka I have seen at our local Target stores here, it's nice to know I can pick up a good bar of chocolate anytime. We also have Aldi stores here, where I know I can get good chocolate..... YUM! It's all imported from Germany and Austria.

Yes, rolls and jam are a very European thing! ;) Good to know that you and your DH keep those traditions alive! :thumbsup2

Milka is so expensive in the US! :scared1: We have seen it in a few stores and it nearly kills me seeing the price!
I only buy it here when it's on offer (and it is mostly all the time in one store or another! :lmao:) and I never pay more than 70 cents for it! :thumbsup2
Did you know that Aldi originated in Austria? We still have the stores under their original name - "Hofer". It was sold to a German company but they reserved the right to keep the "Hofer" name in Austria.
Last summer we came across an Aldi in Orlando and HAD TO visit! They have a lot of the same things we get as well - chocolate, some cookies and stuff! I was amazed! :thumbsup2

We love Milka bars!:lovestruc We have to drive over an hour to buy them at World Market, they cost $3.50 a bar now. My favorite breakfast on the Wonderful Wonder was the cold cuts, smoked salmon, cheese, and hard rolls. Very different than my usual American fare at the local Ihop!

Milka is such a nice chocolate. It is VERY common here, probably the most common chocolate.
Those buffet breakfasts on the WONDERful Disney WONDER were the best! Such a wide range of options ..... and a WHOLE lot better than the breakfast we got on our last morning! :scared1:

It's growing because everyone is anticipating the foodie goodness! :cloud9: :lmao:

I saw your latest update just now, those Nussini bars look soo good! :goodvibes

Can't wait for more!!!popcorn::

Hm, you might have a point there! :lmao: Could be that my readers expect a bit more food reviews from me! I promise to better myself once my Easter Holidays have started next Friday!
But I will try to post more this week as well! :thumbsup2

Does anyone else want a Nussini bar right now???? OMG they look and sound yummy!

Oh, come on over! I have several in my sweets drawer! :goodvibes :rotfl:

That candy bar does look yummy chocolate and hazelnuts cant go wrong.

Just want to throw this out there since you are so close, my dad is in Bueller Germany right now, Im pretty sure its right on the Austrian border. Anyway it is his first time out of the country in his life. Such an exciting time for him.

I wish I was going to be in Disney in August to meet you but, my trip is paid off and in May.

Chocolate and nuts is marriage made in heaven! ;)

Hope your Dad enjoys/enjoyed his time in Germany! It's a beautiful country - will he visit Austria too?

Have fun in May! Going to Disney is ALWAYS fun!

Ok, that Nussini bar looks SO good! I might have to make a trip to the World Market and see if they have it.

They are definitely VERY good - don't know how far the World Market is from you, but if they sell them, please sample one - they are seriously good! :thumbsup2

I'm here! Better late than never:goodvibes

Yeah! So good to know that you found us too! You haven't missed much yet - I haven't even gotten to the part when we touch down in Orlando yet! :lmao:

Can you send me a car of those Nussini bars??? :) They look delicious. I love the Ritter bars with hazelnuts too. Luckily I can get them at Target.

Jill in CO

I wish I could send everyone of you one to try!
Ritter has some nice chocolate too, I do prefer Milka though! ;) :goodvibes

Hi Karin,
I noticed lots of Jelly talk, the best Jelly in the world is Mayhaw Jelly.
It is found in the Southeastern US, the MayHaw berries are teen tiny and are collected in bogs, swampy areas if memory serves me correctly. They make the most wonderful jelly, a beautiful clear pink, that is sweet but slightly tart. I could eat gallons of it. If you google Mayhaw Jelly you can check it out. It is not sold in regular stores, mostly on farms or regional farmer's markets in the southeast. Now I want a tartine with jelly!
Here is a link to a wikipedia page about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayhaw
I did not know that Colquitt, GA is the Mayhaw Capitol, makes sense.

Hi Karin! :wave2: Nice to meet you! I've seen you on some of my favorite DIS'ers TR's and have also read some of yours now! I decided I needed to come out and introduce myself because I love your TR's! :)

I actually grew up in Germany (10 years) and also lived in Italy (2 1/2 years) so all things European are *home* to me and help me relive my childhood. My one of BFF's is German from Munich but she now lives in Innsbruck now and works as a travel agent. :thumbsup2

Thanks for having me along and I look forward to hearing more about your travels with Tom! :woohoo:

We have Mayhaw jelly around here....I've never seen it in a store, only sold on the side of the road or at farmer's markets! I've never actually tried it even thogh I've lived here for 25 years. I think it's time to change that. :)

I tried to answer posts here earlier today (my morning, your VERY early morning :lmao:) and then the DISboards were unavailable. I am not sure I will be able to answer all your posts as it is already past 10.30pm here, but I can at least try to answer a few.
I hope to get an update up tomorrow or on Tuesday at the latest! :goodvibes

YAY !!! A new Dining Report by disneat !!!!:dance3::cheer2:

Welcome! :flower3:
So good to know that you have joined us for this adventure as well!

I do! Yummmm European candy!

:thumbsup2 I am sure there are some you remember from your time in France! :goodvibes

Oh, I'm DEFINITELY visiting Austria one day! It'll take a few years, but I'll get there. And then I can enjoy the apricot jam!

Haha, I know what you mean about the coffee and tea! I always get the coffee on the first of the connecting flights, thinking "It can't be THAT bad." But it's never good...

Mmm, hazelnut wafers. Sounds delish!

Whenever it feels right for you! I would love to show you round here - Austria is quite small, but it is a beautiful country!

Yes, airplane coffee and tea is like torture in a cup! :rotfl2:

alpinemouse;40608571Milka is a very special chocolate, and it takes lots of love to make this chocolate.

OK, I'm really craving some chocolate hazelnut now! I also know what I'm having for breakfast after seeing yours except no pumpkinseed bread around here. :(. Loved the commercial, lol!
I have noticed that every time you put out a new food report I purchase more cheese and pastries.:rotfl:

I thought the commercial would be a hit! :rotfl2: But Milka is a real yummy chocolate and all the other products they make with the chocolate are pretty good too!
Yeah for buying more cheese and pastries! I love to help pushing the economy! :lmao:  :lmao:

Yea another dizneet review, Ive been reading them last few years!

The pictures of your breakfast at home remind me of when I use to visit my grandparents (no longer with us) in holland, there were always some nice breads, cold meats and cheeses, teas and poached eggs.. I really really miss it and unfortunately I live in a place where we dont have ANY Good bakeries..

Your flight snack sure looks better than the tiny packet of honey roasted peanuts they give on our flights! LOL

Cant wait to read more!

Hi and welcome to another one of my reviews! Glad to know that I have such loyal followers.

Mmh ......... Dutch breakfasts :cloud9: lots of nice breads and yummy cheese! So good! We have a lot of average bakeries here, but the one I always talk about still does lots of his rolls by hand and they do taste different.

I am actually amazed that Lufthansa still caters on a 50 minute flight, but we will enjoy it as long as it lasts!

More coming up pretty soon - hopefully tonight. :thumbsup2

Maybe you are just secretly hoping that if you do try it it might not be as bad this time :teeth:

Yummy yummy Nussini Bar. Tom that sure is alot of love into Milka, love that ad, so cute

I am hoping it will be better, not so "secretly" though! :rotfl2: But I am always stunned at HOW bad they can make it taste! ;) :lmao:
Yeah, Milka requires a lot of love - but it's soooooooooo yummy!

I showed Mick the Milka commercial you sent the link for and we had a good laugh. Now we know what makes it so good!:thumbsup2

Glad you enjoyed the commercial. Yes, it definitely is a lot of labour of love that goes into it making such yummy chocolate. ;)

I just wish it were not so hot in Orlando in September so I could bring you some samples. :goodvibes

Yes! :lmao:

Very interesting about the candy. Thanks for sharing! :thumbsup2

I knew you would be interested! :rotfl2:
Maybe next time we can meet in February (maybe 2013) we can sample some of my favourite chocolates! :lmao: :thumbsup2

Looking forward to your reviews.

Welcome!
Reviews will be done as soon as I have answered all these posts - there are lots of yummy ones coming! :thumbsup2

I'm joining in on my first review - whee! Can't wait to ready about all of your eats!

Yeah, congrats on joining your first review! :flower3: I am honoured you chose mine.

I love good bread & rolls, the crusty kind. My fave is the Ritter bar with rum in it! Can't have the chocolate anymore, but I can dream!

I love my rolls and a good crusty bread! :cloud9: I am not a huge fan of Ritter chocolate - I am a Milka girl! ;) :lmao:

Karin, I think you need to start a Nussini export business

Hm, do you think I would earn a lot of extra money for Mickey? :rotfl2:

Um, ya, I'll take one. :rotfl2: They look really good right now.

I wish there were a way to send you one through the internet! :goodvibes

Karin- totally I would buy some other those!!!:banana:
Yum!

Hm, maybe this is a business opportunity! I hope you can find some in the US as they are seriously good! :thumbsup2

I had to goodle Mayhaw Jelly and it sounds really yummy - any idea if I can find some anywhere near Orlando? I would really love to try some! :thumbsup2

YAY! 2 new cars...that is fantastic!

Thank you, Nicki!
We pretty much knew about Tom's car, but mine was kind of "unexpected", but I am real happy about the deal and having a new car is such a relief as I think mine would have needed some repairs in the near future!

I didn't know this but when DH and I were in Europe we made it a point to find as many Aldi stores as we could. Here is one I snaped in Austria!

Hi Heather!
How nice that you said hello! I love new readers, especially one who is not turned off by the time it has taken me to finish some of my other reviews (and I am still working on some TRs!) ;)

How fun to know that you grew up in Germany for some time and Italy too! You spent most of your childhood here - so you must have tasted a lot of yummy treats here!
And even more fun that your BFF works in Austria now! :thumbsup2 She made the right choice! ;)

Thanks for sticking with me - updates to follow shortly! :goodvibes

I need to check if there are any farmer's markets near Disney! This has now really peaked my interest and I need to try that Mayhaw jelly. When you find some to try, let me know how YOU like it! :goodvibes
