The Magic is on her way!!!

The channel at Port Canaveral has plenty of space for the Magic to tie up out of the way, in the channel, while the Dream and Fantasy use the DCL terminal if necessary. In fact, I'm surprised she berthed at the DCL terminal, if in fact that is what occurred. Plenty of space along side the channel in several areas on the south side of channel.

Hoping for the Concierge Lounge at secret aft deck 7/8. That would be swuite, albeit at the disappointment of others. :duck:

DCL has surprises for us all, outside the cancelled cruise, which I truly do feel horribly for you all affected. Especially those few who were on 10/20/12 too.

Nice to see her home again. It seems like forever since she was in PC. When was she last at PC?

A lot of the Magic crew has disembarked for the evening- I know many are enjoying dry land at a local restaurant/bar right now :) I'm sure it is a well deserved night out!

It has been reported repeatedly on here and also confirmed by the officers there is no Concierge lounge on the Magic and they did not put one in. There is no space for it unless they remove cabins and they are not going to do that.

I've heard it before from officers as to what doesn't exist, then when ship sailed, it existed, so ....

I don't expect them to remove cabins for a lounge. I feel they didn't, as the plans would need to indicate such. That's another reason they would not. ;) Although someone gave a great detailed example of where one could be placed a while back here. They gave three locations, with detailed data to back it up, and they all made sense. One of the options was this deck.

Deck 7/8 open aft area sounded plausible to me. I understand those who resist this potential reality. I am only stating this, as some have reported open aft deck 7/8 no longer exists. So what is in it's place? I'm with others that this is an unlikely spot for noise pump/machinery in this prime real estate. So what is there now? I am allowed to surmise... I surmise a CL Lounge. :lmao:

I'm only speculating, and hoping, not stating fact fwiw.

We will find out soon enough.

What happen on the oct 20/2012 cruise? People have mentioned something about not booking cruises that depart oct/20

It has been cancelled. They said that because last year's 10/20 cruise went through Hurricane Sandy. Some people were on that cruise and booked the 10/20 with the 20% discount they received from last year's experience.

I can confirm that the Magic is sitting at terminal 8, the DCL terminal. I can see her out of the hotel window, as we are boarding the Fantasy in the morn.Earlier this afternoon she had 3 cranes working her decks, and it looks like she may be down to 1. Its hard to tell in the dark.

I am surprised that they are not using terminal 4 for her rehab since it is under utilized and under the threat of being taken down in favor of a new terminal that the Port Authority is considering in order to get a cruise line to berth their new ship here. (Im thinking its RCL and the new Oasis class ship, based on the way things are being discussed thought the Port wont talk about who they are talking to.)
Talking about it with a fellow cruiser, what we can surmise is that because she came home from overseas, and there was contractors were waiting to get on to work, and others coming off, they took advantage of the Customs facilities at terminal 8.

Hurricane Sandy.

Several pax that sailed 10/20/12 on the Fantasy that got caught up in Hurricane Sandy, were in fact booked this Sunday 10/20/13 aboard the Magic that was cancelled.

In fact, I think a few that were on the Dream Sandy cruise are involved too.

I wanted to book this sailing of the Magic 10/20/13 too, right out of drydock, a year ago or so.

We were aboard the Fantasy Sandy cruise that departed 10/20/12. My family voted NO WAY .... to booking another cruise departing 10/20/XX :lmao: I'm glad now. They apparently are superstitious, or is it now, clairvoyant. :lmao:

Point is my family will never sail again departing 10/20/XX. I suppose I haven't asked if that date can be mid sail. :confused3

( all emotions, for all involved )

I was at Port Canaveral today and took many pics of the ship coming in and turning around and docking at the DCL terminal. There were cranes on the dock, there were contractors who got off the ship with their luggage (I am assuming their part of the project was completed while on the TA); there were probably about 100 contractors who were waiting at the security gate for the ship to dock so they could immediately get on and start working. Some of them had something to do with tile work because I saw a couple of tile saws. There were at least a couple of dozen cast members waiting outside the terminal (where we usually wait before the gates open) to come back to work from vacation. I have pictures from deck 10 of box after box (huge boxes) of trash which the crane would have hooked to and brought off the ship (I left before they started bringing it off). She was docked and tied up at 12:30 p.m. and contractors started going through security to get on the ship.

I believe the 10/20/12 cruise was the hurricane sandy cruise where they had a really rough cruise and people got a I think, 25% discount and some were booked on the 10/20/13 cruise that was cancelled yesterday.

Thanks for the update. :) Never saw/read anyone specifically mention the DCL terminal. Got it. :thumbsup2

Agreed. Use DCL for CBP, exchange of personnel, then move her mid channel, out of the way, to perform whatever needs doing. It's one other terminal mid way on south side that is rarely used, and has the ability for resources, that can accommodate, IMO.

I don't know/follow the daily schedule of the the Dream. I do know the Fantasy, Sat. But these schedules are obviously involved.

If the Magic needs more than a couple days work/cranes than I suspect she will NOT be using DCL terminal. Unless they do a shared parking maneuver to save $. Which is ludicrous in reality, and saves nothing in the long run.

Point is, I wish the Magic the best, and we welcome her home, knowing she will be well taken care of in her old Home Port.
It's actually refreshing, in a twisted way, that she receives her finishing touches within the CPA. (PC)

Thanks for the update and live confirmation.

I may have missed this confirmation after posting tonight/today/yesterday. lol. The days of the week are a blur lately. lol. My Bad.

Again, Thanks. :)

jenerra11, where did that photo come from? Does anyone else see hope for connecting verandas, as I do, in that photo?
PP # 270.

One can only hope, and be optimistic. Yes ? ? ?

The partitions are removed. If removed, one would only surmise, and hope they would be replaced with operable units.
I'm hopeful, and after looking at closeup photos, confident the Magic will have connecting verandas, IMO. :cool1:

But, who knows till someone aboard opens them. Lol.

:)

I am not a superstitious person by any means, but after being one of those "lucky few" to be booked on both the hurricane Sandy cruise and the cancelled Magic cruise... I may just have to take a little pause before thinking about another October 20th vacation. A lot of good has come of both these events for me, but I would never sign up to repeat either, that's for sure!

So Eva your coming around ...... ;) ..... :lmao: ......

We feel for you and yours. PM me if you need anything, ever, seriously. :)

We disembarked the Fantasy this morning and the Magic was docked right across from the front end of the Fantasy Royal Caribbean dock?
There were 2 cranes and lots of people working. It was great to see her up close!
