Today the Disney Magic was gone for me for the first time in my life. Waited 40 minutes for the Railroad and was 2nd in line for our first ride ever and it went down because a tree fell on the track. Came back to our stroller and DS's Mickey bubble blower was gone from our stroller. Then waited 1 hr for the fireworks and it was cancelled due to winds. I know that none of these are Disney's fault but it still took away the Magic from the trip :worried:

I'm so sorry you had something stolen. I'm always to nervous to leave things in my stroller. I usually try to hide anything I think might be worth stealing like merchandise or my son's very nice (and $$$) water bottle. I recently got the most adorable Disney bag for my birthday and I'm leaving it at home today because I'm worried someone might steal it. So sad but not worth the risk!

If you buy the Mickey light up bubble blower, do y'all just bring it on rides with you?

I'm just sad bc my son loved that thing and it was expensive!!!

Are you still at the parks today? If you are, I would go over to Lost and Found (Guest Services window to the left of DL's ticket gates, near the outside lockers) and see if the Bubble Wand was turned in there. I had the exact same thing happen; we left the Mickey Bubbler in our stroller and someone removed it. I went to lost and found after park closing that day and told the CM there what had happened and they looked in back and found it! (I did check and it was the same one we lost; I hadn't done a very good job of removing the paper cover on the bubble liquid compartment, and the one we got back had paper stuck in the same places.) My guess is that some child saw it in the stroller, took it, played with it and then when the parents found out, they didn't know which stroller it belonged to, so they turned it into lost and found.

I understand your frustration! Seriously, who steals kids toys at Disneyland??!! Over four years ago DH didn't want to take our sons light up spinning Mickey toy on the nemo subs. Someone stole it from the stroller. It was our last day and we were about to leave the parks. I should have gone back to where we bought it and got a new one, but didn't. I ordered one from home but it wasn't the same. He still remembers and he was 3 then. We just bought one of those light up bubble blowers in July. I told DH that it was a good thing I didn't look at the price before handing over my credit card. Expensive is right. In the end, I hope the positive memories will outweigh the bad ones from your trip.

Bummer day. I totally get the disappointment about the fireworks. I live about 7 hours by car from Disneyland. When the 60th anniversary fireworks show was ending, on the last week, I had a chance to go down for the night. I drove 7 hours, and then sat for 3 hours to make sure I would get a good viewing place for the show. And then they canceled for high winds.

I was devastated, the park was packed with disappointed, grumpy people, crying, exhausted kids, and it was just not the happiest place on earth. I fought my way through the crowds to my favorites rides (Alice in Wonderland and Storybook Canal boats) and the lines were crazy long. I just gave up, went back to my good neighbor hotel room, and drove home the next morning. Didn't even try to go to Disneyland that morning. Just done with it.

If the magic is gone bc of that then it was already gone. Ds's brand new pirate hat was taken from the stroller when he was 3. That was 10 years ago.

Fireworks are always at risk of cancellation. Always. And rides are always at risk of going down. A few years back a tree fell into the path in new orleans square. A big tree. So at least this one just fell on the tracks.

The "magic" thing is somewhat lost on me, but what makes or breaks days in the parks is the reaction to the things that can happen.

We never leave anything in our stroller.

Yep. Pirate hat taught us that... Then watching squirrels GNAW on caps of water bottles left in strollers kept us from leaving even food or beverages in them. The stroller was for the kid and that's it. Everything else had to be portable.

Yes you take it with you. Everything you brought, take with you on the rides. Except for the stuff you want to be stolen. Or chewed on by squirrels.

Seriously, who steals kids toys at Disneyland??!!

Other little kids.

Then the exhausted parents finally figure it out minutes or hours later and don't know where the kids got them.

Awwww, my son woke up this morning and said "No bubbles? No fireworks?"
(He's 2, btw)

Thanks everyone! I will try the lost and found. If not, I'll probably end up buying him another one. Doing my best to keep the Magic alive!
I'm really sorry that somebody stole from you. But I think I see that glimmer of magic still there in you! I hope it keeps growing. pixiedust:

This is a good rule period. Not just because of theft but because loading the stroller with stuff that seems necessary but isn't gets stressful. I am still learning how to travel light at the parks - it's definitely harder when you have a toddler.

We ended implementing a one-toy rule. During the trip, DS can pick one toy. We buy it on the last day as we leave the parks for the last time. We learned that after he dropped his giant light-up Mickey wand on HM about 5 minutes after buying it.

I hope you feel better!

We like to pack light, even with the stroller. We do not care for backpacks either. We typically bring snacks, and we just leave them in the bottom of the stroller. No squirrels yet. We brought diapers and wipes and would just throw those in the bottom too. Some water bottles and that was it. I carry a small crossover with my phone, tickets, and cards in it and we're good for the day. Our kids are still young (7, 4, and almost 2), but we don't see the need for a ton of stuff. When we brought more, a lot of it went unused. Youngest is out of diapers now during the day, so on her birthday trip coming up we won't need anything but a few snacks and some water. Looking forward to it.

This is a great idea. I think the allure of the Bubble wands is that kids can blow them while they wait for night time shows, etc. though. But with Fantasmic! and WOC it's so crowded that they really can't use them. My kids love their wands.

Glad you're ready to have a good day.

I feel ya! Having rides go down is lousy. And it seems it happens a lot at DL, whether that be due to malfunctions or mother nature. And getting something stolen will always make you mad at everyone around you who either stole it or didn't help. But the kicker is when you wait around in anticipation of the "finale"....and it gets cancelled. You can have a bad day and the fireworks make everything better. But when you have a bad day and then fireworks get cancelled, that's definitely a magic killer. Hope that wasn't the last day of your trip....you at least have a chance to redeem the time.

I agree, try checking lost and found. They may even just give you one. My DD's friend lost her Minnie ears and we asked at lost and found after closing. Stood in line for a long time but they magically brought out a pair. I know they weren't the same ones but I didn't tell her that

We were at DL a week ago from last monday and we waited for the fireworks. They got cancelled due to high winds and my first thought was "oh no, our trip must be overlapping with GatorChris's!", haha.
