You did a great job on the weekly recap! If we do not get on all the time, this is an excellent way to catch up! Thanks....:thumbsup2

Does anyone remember the screen name of Karen and her son Andrew that were on the WBTA 2011 with us? She is also from St. Louis and Jeremy wondered aloud today if she would be on the 2014.

Chris, isn't she the one who organized the cabin tour? Maybe someone remembers more on that part. I tried to see if I had an old message since we participated in it, but so such luck, those are long gone.

Her DIS name was/is Pixie Dust for Me!

I found it in my FE lists for 2011. (Because I delete *nothing* on my computer!)

I'm excited about going on my first Disney cruise! I've been on other cruises and avoided Disney cruises because I thought there would be too many little ones to distract me (or make me wish my grandkids would be with me). But, this cruise is turning out to be highly anticipated as 5 WDW friends I met thru WDW Celebrations activities will be sailing together on this cruise. Yay!
We plan to start at Disneyland Euro prior to catching up with the Magic in Barcelona.
Any tips on transportation from Paris and/or travel insurance recommendations?

Welcome! My DH John and I are doing the train from Barcelona in May when we do the EBTA. We have been told you can only book 90 days in advance so we are going to book in March. We are going to do a sleeper and then catch another train to DLP. I always use insuremytrip.com to check out insurance prices.

Hope that helps.

We are Ron (49) and Marieke (DW 36).

We live in Lisse, The Netherlands (very close to the Keukenhof).
My wife has a job in childcare and I work as a Avionics Ground Engineer on a Boeing 737.

We have no kids but we love dogs, sadly we lost 2 dogs in the last seven months, but luckily we still have our 2 jr old Sussex Spaniel named Walt.

We have been in Disney Paris, Disney Tokio, Disneyland and Disney World. On the 13th of September 2002 we even got married under the Gazebo at the Yacht Club, so we are celebrating our 12th anniversery on the cruise.

Our first cruise was in September 2012, we fell in love and booked again onboard which leads to the October Magic DD first cruise after the dry-dock.

This will be our longest cruise ever and we are looking forward to meet and greet you all.

Greetings,

Ron, Marieke and Walt pluto:

Welcome to all the people joining us over the past few days! :wave2:

Gus and I plan on doing the same thing before this cruise. We did 4 nights in Barcelona in 2010 and even though I spent a big chunk of my time at the hospital there, we still managed to see quite a bit.
We're hoping to get to Paris the Monday before and head to Barcelona on Friday so it would be nice to kind of compare notes about our findings a long the way.

Plus, any feedback Noel & John could give us after their trip in May would be great!!

Seriously, this is fantastic!!! Thank you so very much for compiling all our chatter and key events into one useful article! The details you gave like stating which post numbers/page numbers is and will continue to be really helpful. I found your recap entertaining as well!

Great job!! :thanks:

Another Pinterest lover here....I too pin loads of naughty cupcakes! :cloud9:

Just had a look at that blog, YUM!!!!! Thanks for that, i'm now drooling.....

Can you figure out delivery to the UK too please. ;)

Kahlua buttercream sounds to die for!!! Love the sugar idea on the margarita one's, what a great touch.....

Would you both mind PM'ing me too, sounds like we have the same interests.....

You have mail with my Pinterest link. :)

Here are the margarita cupcakes with fresh raspberry buttercream. (See previous post about my sickness for staging pictures of objects! :rotfl: )

I originally found the cake recipe on Pinterest, but when I went back today to grab it to share, the source of the Pin blocked it to the general public. :worried:

The good news is that after I made this margarita cupcake recipe, I did make a comment on my Pin about the recipe stating that for the liquid, I used 1/4 cup lime juice, 1/4 cup tequila, 1/2 cup skim milk. So if you can adapt that to your favorite white/vanilla cake recipe, you should be good!

I had my own favorite Raspberry Buttercream recipe, which is as follows:

1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup fresh raspberries
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 pound powdered sugar

As for the Kahlua Buttercrean, here's the source I used for those. I cannot attest to the cake recipe mentioned here, only the buttercream, which I've made twice now. I did add a smidge of salt to it as well so it wasn't quite so sweet.

WARNING: If you like Kahlua, you may find yourself eating it with a spoon! :upsidedow

I'm Ginamarie....

..... My grandfather passed away at the beginning of the year, and we are making sure to keep her busy, since they spent the last 70 years together every single day. Grandpa loved to cruise, and so this is a good memory for her too.....

I know, we're a big group!

You *are* a big group, but I love that all these the blended generations are going to have some really good quality time together! What wonderful memories you're going to make with one another!!!

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandfather. I'm sure your grandmother needs the family around her, and this cruise is a wonderful way for you all to enjoy one another and reminisce the times with your grandfather. I cannot imagine being with someone 70 years and no longer having them with you.

I'm Julie, most of my friends call me Jools.....

I was happily married for 30 years to Bill and we had over 20 holidays to Florida and Disney. :beach: Sadly Bill died 3 years ago, I felt my world had ended and certainly couldn't contemplate ever travelling again. I mean apart from the huge hole he had left in my life how could I travel solo after always having him there? Well I was wrong (as I often am) as I did the 2010 and 2011 WBTA as a solo traveller and am doing the same in 2014 ::yes:: I travel solo but the fantastic thing about the Disney cruises are the great friends you find both online and onboard :cool1:

Hello, Jools! I'm sorry that your beloved Bill has passed, yet I bet he's so proud of you for living life to its fullest!

It could be my memory, but I don't remember you on DISboards from the 2010 WBTA. I'm so glad that you're jumping in with the family here! As a solo traveler myself, I totally agree that you just can't feel alone with everyone here!

....I have now booked 4 cabins although I still don't know who is coming for sure ... just felt safer having cabins booked which we could cancel than being stuck nest year when they all decide for sure that they are coming......

Still not sure on the logistics of travelling with 9 other people but will soon find out :duck:

That's awesome! It will be so great to have so many of your dear loved ones with you for your birthday celebration cruise! :goodvibes

Ron, Marieke and Walt pluto:

Welcome to the family!

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your furbabies. That's a lot of heartache to take in such a short period of time. I'm sure Walt brings you much joy these days!

I agree with Melodie that we'll be looking forward to a full report on the Magic after your voyage with her!

Welcome, it's going to be a great cruise. I have been to wonderful Keukenhof 3' times to see the tulips. It's the most spectacular place I've ever seen. The gardens are magnificent. Hope to meet on the cruise.

Problem is none of us really know at this point what will or will not be in the cabins. One of the rumors of the extended dry dock is a complete overhaul of the cabins. New furniture? New bed? Just new linens? Virtual portholes?

We can discuss cabins based on past cruising history but we won't really know anything for sure until Fall.

True, on all counts, thanks.

That is true...no steamer trunk for storage. Wanna swap cabins? Lol!!!

nah.:goodvibes but I envision the secret deck area hosting more than a couple get-togethers:woohoo:

Love that you staged the Sauza bottle there in the middle. Nice choice of tequila!

Please can I ask a question about linked dining as I'm still not sure of how It's going to be set up this time.
Is it going to be linked so everyone is sitting in the same area ONLY
OR
Linked in same area AND the people you request to have on your table if you have a preference
