J took a nap against my warnings after landing (never sleep, power through the jet lag!) and he was more than pleasant that evening after waking up. :sad2:

Oh, yeah, the nap is the kiss of death for jet lag. I honestly don't recall what we did that first day. Pretty sure we ate something, and I probably dragged Dennis around Las Ramblas for a couple of hours. We could've run naked though Plaza Catalunya and I wouldn't remember. :confused3 The only way I know we didn't is I don't have an arrest report on us.

:welcome:

MandyGirl is a tutor and former teacher (and former principal, I think?) and I'm a former teacher, and I think we'd both say your DS will have educational opportunities on this trip that he would never get in school! I know there were kids on the 2011 trip who did school work while they were on-board.

I'm sure you can handle anything they would give your DS, but if not, there will likely be a few teachers/former teachers around who would be willing to help. I believe our standard charge is one FAB/RAB. ;) (See previous post on beverage terminology.)

Yep! I taught math for grades 6-12 and did my principal internship... but started staying home after #2 was born. We will be taking our oldest out of the start of second grade even if that means me withdrawing her from school and homeschooling (can do that in our state). The educational opportunities are awesome! In fact, for our EBTA in May we have a 150-page packet uploaded onto our facebook group that families can print out. It has activities that start with airplanes (for flying to trip), to facts about each port of call. So many educational opportunities! Life on Earth is short --- live it, do it! Family first. (I know I am in the minority though...)

That's sounds great. I am not concerned about taking him out of school. I asked my MIL today what a child was supposed to be able to do at the end of kindergarten, and he can do more than half already. It will be a private school, so I don't think they can kick us out for absences. We are paying them and all that.

Will be checking out the facebook page in the next couple days. I am sure there is tons of activity there as well.
I got my father to agree to the trip by pushing Barcelona, so we will probably be coming in atleast a couple days early.

DW, Skye runs the tutor room at school and says she is willing also.

Excellent! Maybe as we get closer to sailing we can put together a list of those of us who would be willing to be available for some quick homework help, if needed.

Even better is if we do this as a set time. Will make it much easier to get all of them to do their work. They won't feel like they are missing out on anything if they have company.

We're looking into renting an apartment (or two actually) near the pier in Barcelona now. Mom and I are thinking that we'd really love some time in Spain before the cruise, and a week in Barcelona sounds pretty luxurious :) I'm going to want to sign up for the Hard Rock meet-up, but is that a family type of event or more for just adults?

Definitely for everyone .... some stop by for a drink and some will eat dinner there.

I think I had a nap and we had only flown a couple of hours from the UK ... flights always make me shattered regardless of length. It always amazes me how fresh you all seem at the Hard Rock when you have had a transatlantic flight and been awake since forever ...

Not too bad, really, but the cold that was coming on all weekend has now hit him full force. Poor thing. I should whack him up with some heavy-duty meds, ask him if I should go ahead and officially book the cruise, and interpret "hrmmrmm," as "yes." :rolleyes1
e.

I Thank-you missed an opportunity Pat, you should have told him when he was still woozy from his head Bump that he'd already agreed to the cruise whilst you were at the ER! And his Bump on the head made him forget; )

Ugh - no - been deleting it back down as I can. Between this, changes to brunches, and EBTA I keep getting it full. Will try to read or if they see this hopefully they will PM again

I've updated the 1st post. :thumbsup2

They said they would try & PM you again today. :)

I'm ashamed to say i've done that to Lee before, he was really dosed up and spaced out on painkillers and I used that time to convince him to let me book 3 weeks at WDW! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You should definitely try it with Dennis. ;)

Hi - can you please change our room # in the list? Shercara - Phil and Sherri Caramico #6622 (now) - was 7632 - THANKS

All I remember from that flight was the car seat strapped in next to me where the 15-month old was *supposed* to be sitting. She instead preferred my lap. Every time I looked across the aisle, the husband and 6 year old were leisurely enjoying their dinner, sleeping, eating breakfast, etc. I was about to throw something at them.

Did we hunt down coffee at the airport?

I know this feeling! Flying home from our TA, my DH left early because he couldn't spend the extra time in London while most of our group stayed on an extra week. For the plane ride home, I had both of my kids (1 and 4 at the time) climbing all over me and I was pregnant with #3 and dealing with lots of morning sickness!! Everyone else seemed so comfy in their seats.

WELCOME TO DECK 6 this is the party Deck with so many of our group on it. You made the right choice in changing!:cheer2:

Nothing against those left on other decks....but beware those on Deck 5 after we've been on the raz with all those boozy tastings.

Thanks for all the replies about tutoring. On the PC, there was talk of a homework club. I don't know if it ever materialized, as DS really didn't have any homework at that point. I thought it would definitely encourage the kids to have others near them also working. There was one family every day up on Deck 9 working. Very impressive.

I would like to join the fun. Have read all 47 pages so far. I thought our EBPC 2012 was busy, but you guys are ridiculous.

Jenn don't you love it?!

We took the Aerobus, too. Super easy way to get from the airport. Where did you stay last time? We were at the Continental Palacete. Funky, but nice.

What is it with the hotels in Barcelona? They are really into the modern look aren't they? Most the rooms we've had look like IKEA threw up on them.

We always end up getting one with red or pink and black decor too. They are nice but the interior dec is an aquired taste. ;)

And thanks a lot... now my mouth is watering for Earl of Sandwich :rolleyes1

Me too. An All American please!

Hi there Sam and Ashley from Chesapeake VA here adding our names to the list. We have done 4 Disney Cruises but never one this long or a transatlantic. Very Excited!

Looking for ward to meeting and making new friends in our beloved Disney community. we are in Stateroom 7050.

Welcome Sam & Ashley! I am originally from Va. Beach & my mom/sister/brother still live there. Small world :goodvibes

Chris - that was my mother who passed away, and I did get off in Madeira to fly back to Boston, in a very round about way!! I am back to get through this cruise, and am really looking forward to seeing everyone i had just met, and have yet to meet. A few of my wonderful friends are already on this cruise, and you did meet them at the Earl of Sandwich too that day.

That is a really tough situation. My husband's father passed away during an Alaskan cruise we were on. Nothing good about that.

Yeah you gotta push through and just go to bed early that night. It helps if the sun is shining and you're walking. And cafe con leche helps too!! :drinking1

I was thinking more of a "go to" list rather than a set time. Like, if you had a math problem you were stuck on, you could call Mandy or me.

For those of you cruising on the Mediterranean this summer, it looks like Mr. Dreamy Davies will be sailing with you! I hope he decides he wants to be there at the end of the season next year, too!!

There seems to be a bit of a cruise director shuffle going on. My friend sailed on the Dream last month and after mentioning that we would be on the Magic's first Greece cruise this June, was told that Brent would be back on the Magic at that time. (I was on the Wonder shortly after, but didn't think to ask to see if I got a different answer. <G>)

I remember hearing about this and thinking how terrible that must have been to have lost luggage!

I also remember someone from the DIS group having their mother pass away while we were on board and she had to fly back home to Boston(?) from Madeira or Gibraltar and it was quite an ordeal. I can't remember her username, though I believe she met a bunch of us down at WDW the day we disembarked for lunch at Earl of Sandwich.

Chris, I see Caroline responded to your post. Ask her about the broken bed in her cabin while she was getting suitcases from under. She laughs about it now, but I am sure it wasn't funny then.

Not all of these were mine. The blue ones were Dennis's.

Excellent, we have 2 med cruises booked. My friend who is a cast member on the Magic will be pleased, I think she has a secret crush on Brent :lovestruc:lmao:
