The Magic is Back - Share your Experience! Superthread

Yeah, we'll comply with whatever the mask mandate is, but was really hoping they'd match WDW and do no mask outside. Maybe it'll change soon.

I am still hopeful guidance will change by June 15, or by the time we go in July. I could see masks completely gone for everyone by July 4 if current trends continue.

Definitely good to have Longer booking window. I was glad my dates fell within 120 days so I could grab all 3 reservation days at once. I'm so excited, can't think about work anymore! Lol. Tomorrow evening dodger tix go on sale for rest of season, so even more to look forward to.

I hate even planning 60 days out, lol! But I drive instead of fly to have the freedom I get having my car with me. I only hate it when my 6-8 hour drive becomes 10+ if there's a major accident along the route.

I did go through and did a mock booking. Looks like the language has been changed that previously didn't allow oos to make reservations legitimately without lying. Saw a couple places it was updating as I was looking at it (like in the app at first), but the new language saying in state residents only until 6/15 and then oos allowed after that seems to be fully integrated now in all spots.

Looking forward to reports how this affects queues beginning June 15 and beyond.

You must be doing I-15 from Vegas? It's so bad if there is a problem. I sure wish they would fix it.

With any luck, after June 15, rides will be operating at full capacity and lines won't need to be spaced and outdoors. That should make a huge difference.

Uh. No. I live no where near Vegas. I'm near SF. I take 5 most of the way.

Edit: in fact for me to get to Vegas, I have to get most of the way to SoCal and then drive back up :rotfl: . It's a really long drive for me to go to Vegas.

We're like you. Because we can drive, I like the flexibility of last minute trips. I just had a memory pop up of when we drove down for a 24 hr trip to celebrate the 60th, deciding that afternoon to make the trip. I hope some day that kind of spontaneity is possible again.

Your lucky - that stretch from I-15 can be worse than the 5. It literally just stops for 20+ miles straight for no apparent reason. We used to drive from Utah, but won't even consider it now.

I was ok with waiting, but it was nice to do them all at once today.

When WDW opened 2021 bookings last June, I immediately reserved a room and set up park passes, lol. Of course, we had a trip cancelled, as did a lot of people, but I was eager to reschedule and have something to look forward to.

Now I just have to figure out how and when these ADRs are released at DL. I don't want to deal with mobile orders, based on recent reports, at least for main meals. I see some things are available some days and others different days. Very weird.

I have done that drive. I had no idea it was going to be such a problem!

Do I have any hope of catching a dining reservation cancellation for Cafe Orleans or Blue Bayou or should I push back my trip to a date that has reservations available? 😂

What are your dates?

Yes, I think you have a chance, especially if Disney elects to quietly get rid of some of the capacity restrictions on the 15th. Even if they don't do it for park attendance, they can do it for dining & rides.

I've driven both. Both are terrible. I've sat in traffic near SF more than once and didn't move more than a couple miles in over an hour. But I accept traffic as a daily part of my life in the Bay.

I wouldn't say I'm "lucky". I get heavy traffic at both ends if I don't time it correctly. We both have terrible traffic. It's not a competition. No one "has it worse".

I really didn't have any issues with mobile order at all, but I think I'm REALLY used to it. I didn't really place any orders in advance and got everything I wanted about when I wanted it too. In this case, though, I do think I got lucky.

BUT! I chose to eat meals in DTD (I went to Earl's) because what I wanted to eat wasn't available at all. Only did snacks and treats and drinks in the parks. I would just keep an eye on things. As you know from this thread things change daily. And I imagine a lot more will change by the time of your trip.

We used to live in the Bay Area (multiple places) with family in SoCal...6 hour drive down the "5", usually by cutting through Gilroy...and we got used to it! Looking back, after working a year from home due to COVID-19 (ie no commute), I don't see how I did it. ;)

They are totally going to change the mask guidance, it's just that the state hasn't technically released their updated CDPH mask guidance for after June 15. The next paragraph after the initial one that says masks will be required says this:

As always, our procedures may change as we continue to update our health and safety processes based on guidance from the state of California and local health officials. The latest details to know before you go can be found on Disneyland.com/Updates. We recommend that you check back on the website often, as information continues to be updated.

As soon as CA changes their mask guidance, so will Disneyland. Watch.

Agreed. We do the drive from the Bay Area to LA regularly, but have also done done the drive between LA and Vegas. Both can be miserable. It's really hard to time a trip from the Bay Area that avoids both the Bay Area commute and the LA commute. It's actually what we're discussing right now - what time to leave for our trip, especially if hotels aren't allowing early parking. (I don't think we'll have problems since we're staying by the convention center, but still).

This is great news!

We are going to wait. I've read about some of the challenges that have happened lately with quick service restaurant mobile order pick up times...no thanks!

I fully expect things to be improved by the time we go in July. Not only will there be less restrictions from the state, but Disney will have more time to have worked out the kinks.
