The MAGIC is Back!!! - 6th Sept 2014 WBTA - Come & join the fun! - PART 2

On our recent flights, United and American Airlines were very strict with carry-on size limits.

Before being allowed to enter the line for security screening, every carry-on bag had go into a bag sizer. If it didn't fit, the passenger was sent back to the check-in counter to check their carry-on. Also, they were strictly enforcing the one carry-on and one personal item limit.

Woody

How recent was this Woody? I flew a few months ago on American and no one checked my carry-on bag. Also since I'm flying first class for our WBTA I hope they leave me alone because my plan is just to have carry-on and a small personal item (no checked luggage).

Is anyone signed up for the "Easy Malaga" tour at 1pm on 9/8(through DCL)?

I was but cancelled and decided to do the hop on bus tour instead

Does anyone know what time the terminal opens in Barcelona?

I think its 10:30 isn't it? That was the first port arrival time available so I assumed this would be the time the terminal opens

Oh good. I had heard somewhere that you can check in and board but can leave and come back by 9:00. Can anyone confirm? I was thinking of dropping bags off at 1:30 when rooms open then leaving to go shop for wine and rootbeer then returning.

We were signed up for easy Malaga as well but changed to the beach excursion. I felt like with it being a holiday and having a little one that dealing with the traffic/crowds in the city might not be the best plan for us :(

I thought all aboard was 4pm? I might be wrong though

I also thought with it being a festival day its likely to be busy and in reality I just want to get souvenirs and get back onboard lol.

I had a message from Eva at Puerto Rico Cruise Excursions who i know a few people have booked tours with ahead of flights home.
We had confirmation yesterday of the Bacardi Distillery & Fortress Tour.

Eva is putting on extra transportation if anyone else is interested in a tour in Puerto Rico before we head home.

mmm sound tempt... what times your flight? Our flight is 18.10 pm...

Do you think it is enough times? I don't think so... Barcelona is a huge city...Are you staying at hotel the day before? If so, maybe you should leave dropping bags at hotel lock room and doing the shop and rootbeer then collect the bags and go to port?

Yes, we fly in on the 2nd. I am just tight on baggage space so I thought I would go on, empty the one carry on bag and then go back out to a store and buy what we need and go back on. Doesn't sound like that will be possible. I will just pack an empty bag. Thank you for the info.

Hello everyone! This is Missy and I am organizing the PJ breakfast. If you are on Facebook, there is a post on "The Magic is Back " page where you can sign up with your name and # in your dining party. Please do so there. Otherwise, if you would like to join us and don't Facebook, please send me a PM here and I'll add the numbers to the final count :)

PJ Breakfast will be on Sept 14. Meet @ 8:45 a.m. in front of Lumiere's for a group photo and then we'll all parade through the dining room in our finest pajamas! So much fun for everyone :)

See you there!

From what I remember, rooms aren't available as soon as you get on board so emptying stuff out may not have been an option anything. I think taking an additional bag is probably the safest option or (if you can wait a few days) look to buy stuff in Malaga

Hi everyone,
I wanted to get back to anyone who may still be interested in doing the Barcelona Ghost Tour with us. :hmghost: I contacted the company and they will not discount the price of the tour for us. It's already less than 20 dollars per person for 2+ hours but I figured it couldn't hurt to try. The best thing to do is book yourself if your group is interested then we can just meet up before the tour. We'll be there 15 minutes before the tour begins. They start at the Arc de Triomf. It'll be a great way to see the city at night and should be fun!
Feel free to PM me if you've booked and want to meet up.

So I went out and looked at the Spain Day Tours that you referenced. In particular the Malaga to Granada Shore Excusion. I then emailed them and received a prompt response. With the ticket to the palace it ends up being 93 euros with 10 people signed up for the small group tour.

His email details the tour which includes:
- Personal pickup from the port of Malaga
- Personal drop-off at the port at the end of the tour - 100% on time for departure
- English speaking expert guide at the Alhambra Palance and Generalife Gardens
- Guided walking tour in a group of 10-18 persons only
- Oreintation by the tour escort in Granada city center (subject to time)
- Free time for lunch, shopping, and exploring the city center on your own
- Total duration of 7-9 hours - subject to actual arrival and departure times of the ship.

We are 3 adult people and I'm wondering if there is anyone else on the forum that would be interested in this. In looking up the conversion rate, it came to $126. Much better than the $200 - meaning more money for tastings!! However, I believe the DCL one does include lunch but I don't think I'll be spending $75 on lunch.

Just let me know and I can forward you the email I received back from the company.

Thanks!

Cristi

After a little prodding, I have FINALLY gotten confirmation that our requested tour has made the requirements. We went ahead and paid in full.

Thanks for the reminder, Woody! From the time we leave home in four weeks, we will fly on American, US Air, Easy Jet twice, and Vueling. I think at home I have the most restricted baggage requirements listed. I'm in Atlanta now for a CLIA conference featuring AMA Waterways and Paul Gauguin but hope to start getting the kids' stuff laid out starting this week.

Woody- Curt and I would love to have lunch with you two one day and catch up! We are in 2010 just in case we don't cross paths the first few days onboard.

Are you doing a self walking tour in Malaga?
