The MAGIC is Back!!! - 6th Sept 2014 WBTA - Come & join the fun! - PART 2

I've been asked a few questions concerning the Postcard/Recipe exchange and if the idea is to add a regional recipe to the postcards. My response is Yes - But - this is suppose to be fun, not stressful, so there really aren't any rules. In past postcard/recipe exchanges I have received a variety of combinations, all have been appreciated. Some things I have received have been:
  1. Just a lovely postcard, some with, some without, messages
  2. A postcard with a regional or favorite recipe on the back
  3. A postcard and a regional favorite treat; tea bag, penny candy, mini bottle of hot sauce
  4. A postcard with a recipe clipped to it
  5. A recipe card noting who sent it and from where but no postcard
Any combination would be great.

Four Months!!!! :cool1: :banana::cheer2::dance3::woohoo:

I am so excited to be going on this cruise, I can't wait!!!

Considering that I booked this cruise over 14 months ago, 4 months doesn't seem that long!!

I am working with this tour group: http://www.oditen.com/intro.html and arranging a tour with Namsupak/Lauren. She found them on trip advisor highly rated. We don't have any more room in our van, but apparently they have a minibus also that can take up to 15 people, if anyone wants to join up and book an excursion through them. This is the person I have been dealing with:

One Day In Tenerife

Felix is awesome! My dad and I booked a private tour with him for Tenerife. He is so responsive by email and we are looking forward to having a great day with him.

Very interesting -- thanks WDW Princess & GatorMomInNC -- the reviews on Trip Advisor are very good. What tours have you guys got booked and what was the rough cost of them?

I was rather underwhelmed by the Tenerife offerings from DCL and we were thinking of getting a rental car -- but this is interesting!

The Tour Operator seem to show up as fully booked for September 11th now -- but I guess you might have the inside track on that mini-bus GatorMomInNC! Thanks for sharing this here -- have you also asked in the Facebook group?

Are there any others interested in finding out more and putting a bigger group together? We are just two adults.

Good morning all!

123 days until we sail!!! :cool1:

If you signed up for the Martini Tasting on page 1 (and even if you haven't signed up yet but would like to join us!), please PM your details to me so that I can contact DCL and make the arrangements. I'll first and last name of each imbiber, cabin #, and reservation #. :drinking:

Michael

I am trying to work out how many tastings is too many tastings! We are not signed up for Martini (yet?) :rotfl: Don't want to over schedule -- what is the view from experienced cruisers?

We are not on the list for the pre-cruise meet at the Hard Rock so will need to PM you about that Michael.

Don't do two in one day that's all I'd say! We tried Mixology and Martinis in the same day once and that was a really bad idea lol I think Martini out of all of them least appealed to me because I hate gin otherwise I would have jumped on this one

Hi,

I'd like to join the Postcard exchange.
Cristi - cabin 7570 - home location Plano, TX

Thanks!

Nicole and others: My sister asked about doing a private tour around Barcelona. Can anyone recommend any company or person? My sister and niece arrive Weds afternoon, and the rest of us on Thursday morning, and were hoping to do a tour on Thursday, then maybe the HOHO bus on Friday.

Hi, ours is not a city tour but is actually a tapas and wine tour. It sounds like you are looking for a city tour so I can't help you there, but I can highly recommend The Barcelona Taste if you are also interested in a tapas tour! We did it last summer and loved it so much we booked again. Also if you are adventurous in seeing the city in a different way I can recommend Barcelona Vesping which we did last summer and loved. You rent the Vespa from them and it has a GPS guide preloaded to tour you around. It was so much fun and only 45 euros for 6 hours!!

I agree that two in one day may be pushing it! However, those of us organizing these tastings will try hard to deconflict so that we don't have two on one day. They will also all be on sea days, so you don't have to worry about conflicting with excursions.

I'm also not a fan of gin. If memory serves, all of the martinis that we had the last couple of times were vodka based.

We are doing a 7 person van for 350 euros. The minivan holds up to 15 and if you have between 10 and 15 people it is 65 euros each for a 5 hour tour. They stop for lunch which is additional 25 euros each.

Which tour are you guys doing? Ours is 7 hrs total because we asked him to include the cable car ride to the top of mt. Teide.

We didn't want to do cable car and we did want to get back to the ship with time to spare, so we are doing 5 hours...

Hmmm now you have me thinking maybe I would do this one! ARGGG! Can not keep adding tastings to my list lol

Hi just a quick message to confirm that the list for Champagne Girls is now closed pending confirmation from DCL of the 2 sessions on the same afternoon and also how many people will be able to attend - fingers crossed that everyone confirmed on the list can attend !!

I have also requested dates, so will be further in touch regarding the same in due course once I hear from the DCL events organiser with final details.

Hi, I confess, I have gotten lost on all the threads. What is included in your 7-hour tour? I really wanted to see Mt. Teide so the 7-hour one may just be the perfect tour. Is your tour filled already? We are 2 adults.

Thanks,

Cristi

So, I've got a follow up question. In looking more into the Mt. Teide tours and reading through some of the reviews, it appears there are 3 hiking routes to go up even further. One of those 3, the one that takes you to the caldera, requires an additional ticket that you have to get ahead of time. While it is free to get the ticket, you have to get it before you actually get to the mountain. IN looking at the site, it is asking for a time block of when you want the ticket.

So, long winded to ask the following - what time are y'all expected to get to the top of the cable car run?

Oh, and here is the link to the info regarding the walks above the cable car:
http://www.telefericoteide.com/en/hiking-teide-cable-car

In talking with Karyn, earlier, I think we are more interested in the volcano than spending time at a beach so that is why I was asking about where else your 7-hour tour is taking you.

Thanks!

Cristi

Hi!
We are 4 adults and have rented a car (about 50E, I think). We want to go to the top of Teide but not by "hiking". We are driving up to the cable car, parking there, cable car is 25E/pp and then have printed out the free permit to hike up the last 200 meters. The cable car opens at 9 AM so we want to be there by then. Our permit to the top is 9am-11am. I don't know what we are doing after that.

I would be interested in how much the 7 hour tour costs too and where it goes. I checked the site and it says it is sold out...

Thanks!

Hi all!
Had a great time at WDW but now into full time cruise planning. Request were sent to concierge and DCL air so now just waiting to hear back from them. Part of me hates letting DCL take care of all this but between work and school I just don't have time.

Our tour is private for the 2 of us. It includes pick up at the ship at 8am and driving to the national park/mt. Teide with several photo stops along the way, guided tour into the park, then we are going up the cable car. Not hiking beyond that because of time. Then it includes lunch at a local restaurant and we will arrive back to the port at 3pm. We always like to be back at least an hour and a half before all aboard so we don't have to stress.

I decided to send an email and ask if they had any more availability for September 11th -- since GatorMomInNC above did say they might have a 15 person mini-bus. Perhaps some others have already done the same?

We are just two adults -- we would be interested in a longish tour including Mount Teide and we are not really that keen to go to a beach -- would rather see villages or something other wise. I don't know if it would be possible to make up a group of 15 -- perhaps here and through the Facebook groups -- but we have to see if they have availability first I suppose.

If anyone else has been in touch with 'One Day in Tenerife' and hears anything do share.

Also, thanks again to GatorMomInNC and WDW Princess 71 for sharing the details in the first place.
