I'm curious; do you think we'll go past Gilbraltar during the day so we can see it or will we go by during the night after Malaga? I was hoping to see the Strait. We leave Malaga relatively early in the evening. I guess I don't have a good grasp of how the distances translate to when we pass places between ports.

That would be lovely to see Gibraltar, but I don't know how long it takes from Malaga. We did the 2011 WBTA and when we leave Gibraltar the Dolphins were swimming with us. That was such a great goodbey to Europe.
I did onces a ferry from Tanger to Malaga, but it's so long ago, that I don't know anymore how long it was. But it was several hours.

Less than 100 miles by road, I imagine it will be less than 5 hours. Unfortunately, unless there is a delay, I doubt it will be daylight.

I am currently booked in a category 9D guarantee for 2 adults plus a 17 yr DD. I booked the first few days they opened and am paying only $2700. I have on hold a category 4A for the 3 of us for $5400.00. Is there anyone out there in a category 4A that can share their prices paid. Just wondering if it is worth the extra money since I got a great price initially.

That's kind of what I expected but was hoping against hope that I was wrong. What time does it get dark in the Med in September? And does anyone know if we'll get a glimpse of Africa as we head for the Canaries? Probably we'll be closest that same night.

I know that we could see Africa from Gibraltar, so I'm pretty confident we can see it from the ship as we pass Gibraltar. Maybe just the lights because it will be nighttime...

Hi,

Can tell you that the opening day price for a 4A was $1830 a person - whereas for a 9D, it was $870pp. Hope that helps with your decision.

Yes, thank you. I paid the $870 pp for the 9D. Current 4A prices are $2200 pp. Boy did I mess up not booking 4A initially.

Did you have a new booking for the 4A or is that a modify from your original booking. Did you call DCL for the real price if you change category, because perhaps you hold the price of the date of your booking.

The other problem is that the cruise (as of last night) is showing sold out, so may not be any availability.

When I called disney they said they could not give me the early discount even though I booked the other on opening day. I asked if they could give me 10% discount since I just took 4 cruises since December, 1 on fantasy, 2 on the magic, and one on the Wonder, but they also stated they couldn't.

I have both booked at the moment as the reservation can be held for 4 days.

A 6a is now showing up if you log into your current reservation and pick change cabin (modify reservation) it will tell you the price and you will be able to see if you still get the price from when you booked which you should just don't finalise it till your sure.

You should get the price from when you booked we changed cabins 4 times for our Aug 30 cruise and each time we got the price from when we booked not the current price. Good luck

Welcome to the new cruisers.

Last Monday we had two earthquakes here in Okinawa. First time I ever felt one. It was a little scarey. Would much rather go through a Typhoon! LOL

Still don't have our plane tickets yet, nor do I have any idea of what I am going to pack. It will for sure be more than one carry on!!!

Just 40 more days till our trip to the Mainland and Tokyo Disney.
Then I will be able to focus more on the cruise.

This is very strange and I want to say he doesn't know what he's talking about. I just changed categories for my May trip on the Fantasy and received the price it would have cost for that category when I first booked. Have you tried to do it online?

If this WBTA is half as much fun as the one in 2011 was........should be a blast! We have bought all our tickets and paid for the cruise........so now just saving up $$ for the excursions and spending $$! We too booked this cruise as soon as it came out in Feb 2013 and have been ticking the months off. All fully paid with flights and hotels booked and like Debra we are waiting for the excursions.

Yesterday I found that in Santa Cruz, Tenerife the ships dock on a very long u shaped pier. If you are fortunate to be first you can walk just 1/2 mile to the town but if you are at the back of the queue then it's a long walk. Apparently so it says the Tenerife Port Authority have put on a free shuttle into town (the Plaza de Espana) where there are lots of shops and restaurants.

It warns that some cruise companies say this shuttle is just for people with disabilities but in fact, it is for everyone.

Once in Plaza de Espana there is a Hop-on Hop-off bus tour you can get for around £15 so we shall be doing that and then looking around the town afterwards before returning to the ship.

NOTE: one of the stops on the HoHo bus is the store El Corte Ingles and this is where we buy our wine for the cruises when in Barcelona so you will have chance to stock up on more should you be running low for our 5 days at sea!!!!!

Thanks for sharing the info on Santa Cruz and the link. It is tempting to try and just keep it simple with the first ports and do the HOHO bus tour. I am in two minds though as I am very keen to go to Del Teide National Park. I expect Disney will be running Port Adventures there won't they? We were wondering if getting a rental car from the Port and driving to the Volcano might be more efficient in terms of both time and cost though. I don't know if any one else is considering anything like that for Tenerife. I just wish Disney released the Port Adventures much sooner so real planning could be done.

For Malaga we are hoping to be able to walk from port to see the Roman theatre, Alcazaba & Castle Gilbrafaro -- some on Cruise Critic make that seem doable -- there is a HOHO bus there too isn't there?

As for the Caribbean ports -- I have no idea at all what to do or how to organize things. We are much more historical things rather than beach people -- I will have to do lots more investigating.

Anyone else want to share any of their early plans for the ports -- I am such a newbie at these things. The time is so limited -- especially in Antigua -- and it must be very nerve racking thinking about getting back to the ship on time if you have not gone with an official tour!

This is us too and I must admit I am struggling to find things we may want to do. Not a big issue. My plan at the mo is to wait for the DCL excursions for more ideas before making any concrete plans. We have, however, been to St Maarten before and are quite tempted to hire a car when we're there this time just to do/see a few things we missed last time. St Kitts is the one I'm struggling most with though...

We have been to Tenerife before and we hired a car for a week. Quite easy to do and reasonable in hire terms. Roads with a good map are easy to navigate or maybe they will offer Sat Nav now with the car.

Worth going to Teide National Park (pronounced like Lady) if you have the time.

YES, there is a HoHo bus in Malaga too but didn't I read that it's some sort of Saints Day when we are there so I don't know if anything will be open or roads either with the crowds of people that throng for Saints Days. So it maybe worth doing an organised tour if you want to see lots of things.

We have been to St Maarten before too and this time will just do our own thing.

It's fun doing the research though but looking forward to seeing what Disney will offer.

Did anyone take over the organization of this activity? If I remember correctly, there was just a few people on the list.
