The MAGIC is Back!!! - 6th Sept 2014 WBTA - Come & join the fun! - PART 2

Thanks for the welcome scottishwee35, MagicMe & Pinkocto!

I think you are right -- I may become addicted -- before even going on my first cruise! I scared my husband today telling him about the rumors of the Magic Norway cruise -- he said 'we have to wait and see how we like our first sailing before thinking about another one!'

I think the vibe of the thread is rubbing off on me already! :goodvibes

I will take I good look at all the lists of activities MagicMe and PM the organizers to see if there is any more room -- the drink tastings sound very appealing!

:)

I had the second one booked before even going on the first one! :)

Rumors of a Norway cruise? pray tell!

It's Friday night here in Japan, so I just want to wish everyone a happy weekend!

My son was asking me for his 18th Birthday trip to Japan!!! I had explained him that it is long way and very expensive for family holiday to Japan from UK!! Perhaps my fault that take him travel lot since his childhood when he was 1 years old then travelled to Europe and USA etc.

Perhaps you talk to my son about Japan!! He want to see it and I told him better wait he get a job and go with his friend?

Hi everyone!

My DH and I just booked this cruise in January not dreaming it would soon be sold out  We are in 7A GTY and this will be our 14th Disney cruise.

It sounds like there is a lot of fun plans we want to join in on! This is my kind of group. Please add us to the roll call (Wayne and Mary). Has the roll call ever been this big?!? Also, I'd liked to be added to fb.

Thanks for all the activities and can't wait to meet everyone!

The Magic WAS showing on a Norway Port schedule for two dates in June 2015. It was June 10th and 24th -- I and many others saw it there yesterday -- but the dates that read Disney Magic have now been replaced with TBC -- so who knows.

There are rumours of Dover, UK on 10th July, 22nd July and 3rd August -- so that might be a repo -- perhaps it will be linked with Baltics -- perhaps it will be Norway before that?? -- who knows! Disney Magic was certainly on that Geiranger port page yesterday -- I saw it with my own two eyes!

Anything can change -- it is fun to speculate!
:)

Anyone else started thinking about packing? I've already reviewed my packing list twice trying to make sure that I only pack the essentials and be able to survive for three weeks with just a carry-on and small personal item (backpack). I've done several 7-day Disney Cruises with just a carry-on so I'm confident I can make it fit. Nevertheless, I want to make sure that I don't forget something I later realize I need and that I have enough to add items if I find something I want to purchase.

Thinking about it, but just about managing to resist at the moment:rotfl2:

Wow -- that sounds impressive for three weeks --I wish I had the 'packing light' skill.
I fear I may be the other end of the packing spectrum -- I think we may be having to pay for an extra checked bag. We are in the final planning stage and will probably be away from home for a month in total.
I am never very good at keeping things down to essentials -- plus never having been on a cruise before I am not sure what the essentials really are!

Packing -- along with everything else about this trip -- is very much on my mind 24/7 though!

I'm thinking about stopping in London for a few days before the cruise. I've never been to London, and could use all the help you might be able to give me. Especially about where to stay.

Thank you!!!

A lot of the museums in London are free entrance ..... check out the Natural History Museum, The Science Museum, The Museum of London, The British Museum. Another good thing to do is take a boat trip up the Thames. You will see a lot of the important sights from the river and it is great way to travel.

When visiting London a West End Show is a must ... TKTS is a good place to get discounted tickets on the day, from the booth in the middle of Leicester Square.

You can also apply for free tickets to the Ceremony of the Keys at The Tower of London ... happens every night when the Tower is locked up for the night.

This is am amazing experience.

Definitely go to the Tower of London ... the beefeater tours are brilliant and really immerse you in the history.

There are lots of good places to stay ... I tend to stay around Covent Garden, West End, Bloomsbury, St Pauls.

What fun! Thanks so much for the info. I'm very impatiently waiting for the rest of the 2015 schedule to come out.

. . . I've done several 7-day Disney Cruises with just a carry-on so I'm confident I can make it fit.
We typically travel with just carry-ons, including cruises.

For those thinking of packing light, here's a heads up. Check the size of your carry-on and make sure it meets your airlines' carry-on limits.

Yesterday my DW had a flight on American Airlines out of LAX. At the gate, the agents were having each passenger place their carry-on in the bag sizer. If it didn't fit, or if it fit but stuck out above the rim, the passenger was denied boarding and had to return to the ticket counter to check their carry-on (and pay the baggage fee). There were some very upset passengers.

I support this. :)

Nothing more frustrating than being stuck behind THAT guy/gal with a huge roller, and a ginormous "personal" bag! ;)

I have updated the Roll call from this new thread & also the numerous PM's i have received. Welcome all. :thumbsup2

Please note that i update the roll call every several weeks, so please do not complain that it has not been done every few days! It is just a list for us here on the DIS, it does not effect anything to do with the cruise so please do not stress if your name is missing just post here and i will update it when i have time. :)

I have also updated the chocolate tasting list with people who have PM'd me, please note that we have way over the the 49 person limit so it is wait list only. I have also heard rumours that DCL may no longer be offering this so it may not go ahead at all therefore i am closing the sign up for the time being.

If you want to join other drinks tastings, champagne girls, Fish Extender groups etc PLEASE PM the organiser as per the posts on the first two pages of this thread, not me. Thanks.

:wave2:if you want to sign up for champagne girls..to drink champagne and chat and have super ladies only fun..pm me or send me a message. And I can add you!

I would love to sign up for champagne girls but not sure how to PM.

Geffric you are not organising the Champagne Girls for this cruise?

The Champagne Girls event is being organised by Mary (Tod&Copper). If anyone wants to join the wait list for that event please PM Tod&Copper to be added to the wait list.

"very upset" because they felt the rules didn't apply to them?

My experience is that this is the norm for UK carriers, compared to US carriers who have always been less strict, sounds like they could be tightening their rules which I 100% agree with. Can't believe the size of some of the carry on I have seen people fighting with, no matter how they try it will not go in the overhead bins. Although UK carriers tend to also have a weight limit as well as size, we know we have 10kg(22lb) 22"x16"x10"max. 10kg is enough for me to be trailing around an airport, rather have it checked in.

Also some UK / European budget airlines only allow ONE carry on bag and do not allow an additional personal item such as a handbag / purse. We have seen lots of people at check in trying to cram their handbag into their already full carry on bag. If it won't fit you are charged for the extra bag. So read the small print so that it doesn't come as an unwelcome surprise at check in.
