VENT ALERT, whining alert:
GRRRR I spent all day training my temporary substitute at my old job. For some reason that escapes me (ok maybe it doesn't totally escape me, but we won't go there) they somehow felt that I could somehow train this lady to do a major function of job in 13 hours of training spread over 3 separate days. Yeah, like that's gonna happen. Ok I am not going to say another word. Vent over..
Now unrelated question, did I do the right thing?
I went to pick up my kids from school tonight and on my way home, a girl was riding her bike up the street and she did not see me. I saw her out of the corner of my eye, as she slams on her brakes and turns her wheel. It was like she just realized where she was or something. Anyhow, her bike slid out from under her and she landed in a heap on the curb. She was on the sidewalk when she slammed on her brakes.
So, I pull my car over immediately, put it in park, and walk back to her to see if she is OK. She had a skinned-up knee, and was more scared than anything. So here is my question, because this is what I did next.
After ascertaining that she was ok and hadn't broken anything. I asked her where she lived, and if she wanted me to put her bike in the back of my vehicle and give her a ride home. I explained to her that normally, I would not suggest that any child accept a ride from a stranger, but that she was in no shape to pedal her bike with a skinned up knee. She said, Yes thank you.
So, I load everyone up and give her an antibacterial wipe to clean up her knee. What happens next is question 2.
I get her home and it is clear that there is no adult at home to greet her. I take her bike and put it in the garage for her and watch her go into her home safely.
Now, I want to stick around until an adult gets there, but she says that her Dad will be home soon. I have my two little ones in my car, and one left to pick up yet. So, I decided to leave and go get my other child.
I decided to drive back by after this and see if there is an signs of a grown-up there yet, nope. I took the kids to go eat nearby and drove by again afterward to see if this girl has a parent home yet, still nope.
I give up and drive back home. Now I am worried about the girl not being supervised and I know that if my child got hurt on the way home and got a ride from a stranger I would want to know what happened and who gave my child a ride. So, now I am worried that this parent is going to be mad at me etc...
So, do you think I did the right thing and do you think I should try to pursue this further next week, or just forget about it? I dunno what to do, never been in this kind of situation...
