Happy (?) Confederate Memorial Day!

(Yup, it really is a state holiday here in GA. Most people don't take it, including my actual office, but they contracted me out to an office that does, so no work for me today. Instead, I'll be cleaning my house so that I don't feel quite so, ummm, not right about it.)

I must have missed that one when we were in Georgia.
Perhaps North of Atlanta was too far north???

I gotta clean the basement today.......GA -I'll be thinking about you doing the house!

You are a beauty (a true GEM) and the kids ARE adorable - and since their personalities are shining through in those pics, I think you DID have something to do with it! (and, btw, Jack DOES look like a total imp!)

Day minus 215 (and that's a fact. See my little counter? Courtesy of my friend Lou. Lou. Not Zubb. Or was it Ed? Or JW? I forget. But it's all good. 'Cause they rock! They are my friends. They love me. )

BTW, I told my DH I had made this proposal to my maelstromer friends. This is the most excited I think I’ve seen him when I talked Disney planning. I think he thinks he’ll never have to hear about it from me again. Little does he know….

Ponderances for this week

1)MVMCP – to go or not to go that is the question. Well, that and which night should we go. Imagine the conversation if you will…
Me: Did you want to go to MCMCP this year? We had such a good time last year.
DH: Huh?
Me: Did you want to go to MCMCP this year? We had such a good time last year.
DH: Uh, sure, if you want.
ME: But what do yoouuuu want?
DH: Well, sure, we can go.
Me: OK, I’ll take that as a yes. What night did you want to go.
DH: Uh, whatever night you want.
ME: It’d be nice if there was one on our first night, but there’s not. How about Monday, 12/27 or Tuesday, 12/28.
DH: Uh, sure, if you want.

2) What to do upon arrival? “they” go to parks, stay up too late and start “their” whole vacation one step behind. “We” know better, right Chris ? ***… who can spend an entire year, thinking about, dreaming about even, planning their trip, and NOT go to a park first thing? We are not made of stone. We are Maelstromers for craps sake!

If all goes well with United, we should arrive at our tropical paradise by noon. What to do, what to do? I was hoping for a MVMCP that night, but no such luck. Now I’m thinking AK for Expedition Everest followed by dinner at one of my carefully researched ADR’s followed by MK fireworks. I mean, really. Who can NOT go to MK on their first day?? Raise your hands. Anybody? Anybody? No? I didn’t think so. ‘Nough said.

BTW, BTW my DH actually asked me yesterday how the planning was going. Oh the joy! Was he becoming a convert? Quick note to self: do not whip out the meticulously researched touring plans, carefully color-coded and laminated before being 3 hole punched and organize in the Holy Grail. Could be overwhelming. Act casual, nonchalant. My reply – Oh, pretty good. Right now I’m just waiting on those park hours to be released so I can decide what which park on which day. Just enough to reel him in without losing him?

1) Yes, go. Prefer a Sunday or weeknight. Not Friday.

2) Your plan sounds very good for day one. You must either go to MK or watch fireworks from beach of say, the Poly. Some people really like that place. I love the food there. Very good choices of food.

BTW, BTW, BTW - you know I love that. As to your edit. We can only hope. Need a meatloaf? That is an oxymoron if I ever saw one.

Sheri - I love the Maelstrom report, but have nothing to add, since I apparently am breaking a rule of Maelstromers by NOT going to a park my first day. Really, after 5 1/2 hrs. in a car with a 2 and 4 yr old, I'm thinking the pool will be JUST FINE.
And I was so proud of my hubby when he actually took an interest after I mentioned MNSSHP - he really wants to go! I might even get him in costume!

Mellywellyhappiesthaunt - I only "tan" in the mornings. He only shows me his natural state at night, so, "tempting . . . but, no!" (I just loooooove Val Kilmer . Everyone thought Maverick was so hot, I was all about the Iceman).

I am wondering about the boy, now, after the glowstick down the diaper incident and the one-cheek-only tan. I made sure to tell the girls at daycare this morning so that they didn't think it was an old bruise. THAT would never do - especially since I know all the workers that investigate that kinda stuff . . .

Ah yes, I remember when I was in school in Virginia, they finally approved the Martin Luther King holiday, except they combined it with the already existing Lee/Jackson holiday. So it became the Lee Jackson King day. Try 'splainin that one to the kids.

Sheri...Have you not done MVMCP ever? If you havent', then go. But skip the rides. It's really not the time for it. We missed alot last year b/c the kids did some rides. If we did it again we might go to the party twice . I found it to be a bit crowded towards the end of the night. I've heard it gets more and more crowded the closer you get to Xmas and Friday nights the locals go....so it's really crowded then.

I did a few years hard time working for the State of VA (oh the horror), and we got a four-day weekend every January. Friday for Lee-Jackson and Monday for Dr. King. Suh-weeeet!

My nephew's name is Jackson Lee (the nurse said they should just wrap him in the rebel flag and be done with it), and for years he thought Lee Jackson Day was HIS day. Of course, he also thought Jacksonville was Jackson'sville.

And no, he wasn't named for the generals. Jackson was my BIL's choice, and just about every second or third person in my family (including me) has Lee for their middle name.
