The Maelstromer

If you mean Maelstrom, it is in Epcot's Norway section of World Showcase. It is a boatride that takes you through the viking era with trolls etc. It has a film at the end of the ride. We always like this one because we can ride it as a family and when we go it never has much of a wait.

Hope that helps!

:confused3 Just bumping this subject because from what ive read about Maelstorm it looks a little i dont know the word for it, but im not sure if its something we would ride. Can someone tell me more about it?

P.S. You can probably already tell that im kind of a wimp :rolleyes1 lol

Well, there's only one mildly scary part when these trolls almost push you backwards over a cliff. It freaks me out, but I know that it's just going to pull away from the cliff eventually. Oh, and at the end you go over a drop, but it's not big at all.

Believe Disneygirl.. not a big drop at all. I doooo not do big drops :sad2: , and this is a quite mild ride at the most ! Have fun :yay:

Maelstrom is a very tame boat ride that takes you through Norway. There are some trolls but it isn't scary at all. My DK's really enjoy this ride and it is a must on every trip.

It is so mild, nothing to be scared of. There are one or two drops in the dark, but nothing more than the POTC drop in my opinion. They make you think that you are going to go over the waterfall backwards then your boat shifts over and starts going forward again. Like I mentioned before, we ride this one because we can all ride together (DH, DS4 and DD2). Have fun!!!

Maelstromer is a water ride in EPCOT's World Showcase. It is a water ride that tells about Norway.

In Maelstrom, visitors board a 16 passenger Viking-style boat and travel along a 10th century Viking village and through a mythical forest where you'll encounter mischievous trolls who cast a curse on the boats to go backwards downriver. Your vessel passes a grand fjord and continues on through a storm by a North Sea oil rig. Maelstrom uses Audio-animatronics and special effects to tell of Norway's history and ancient folklore during the 10 minute ride. Following the ride, visitors are invited to watch a short, recently updated film on modern Norway

Here's a couple pictures

I am the queen of all ride wimps and I love this one. There is a little bit where the boat goes backwards and then there is a very small drop. It's fun and it's also really pretty.

It is a small but fun ride... and please stay at the end for the Norway movie. This is such a great country (been there 7 times - In Norway)

I have walked through the movie everytime I rode this. This year I just might stay as my wife is part Norweigian, and the CM's always give you the dirtiest looks! :rotfl2:

It really is a mild ride, we went on this about 5 or 6 times this week. It was one of my DS (2 and half) favorite rides.

And, in case the line is long, you can get a Fastpass and come back later.

Because Maelstrom is a Fastpass!

Enjoy your trip!

we've always stayed for the movie - this year we may skip it only because its the same movie - but then again they did such a beautiful job capturing the majesty of the country - I think its good for dd to see different parts of our world, and of course a look at the people - its a great big beautiful world... oh wait, wrong lyrics!! *g The movie holds so many boatloads of people, its a pixie dusting when you are the last boat to arrive for the movie, and frustrating when they close the doors before they let your boat disembark... you cannot leave until the doors open, so you sit and chat outside the door... twiddle thumbs...

and I was also going to mention - -

ITS A FASTPASS ride!!
