I didn't know accutane would do that.

We had sooo much trouble getting a diagnosis. I finally planted myself in an emergency room and said, "We aren't leaving until someone figures out what's wrong with my husband!"

Then we had to leave anyway, but we left with a specialist referral in Dallas. 3rd leading liver specialist in the country. He diagnosed him right away, started him on Imuran for organ rejection, steroids and synthetic bile, and dh started getting better in two days. He said he wouldn't have lasted another two weeks.

Yup, after all the testing was complete, it was the Accutane that caused all the issues with his blood counts and attacking his liver...he turned YELLOW and was sick for almost 2 months...but he slowly got better and every day he was off the Accutane he got better and better....

BUT, to you, Paige, good thing you got strong and adamant about your DH getting a diagnosis....

And now he is on the road to recovery....YES...am I right...

Yup, after all the testing was complete, it was the Accutane that caused all the issues with his blood counts and attacking his liver...he turned YELLOW and was sick for almost 2 months...but he slowly got better and every day he was off the Accutane he got better and better....

BUT, to you, Paige, good thing you got strong and adamant about your DH getting a diagnosis....

He was bright, bright yellow too........and he's brown-skinned, fairly dark, so it was startling.

I just had a huge dish of ice cream and now one tooth is hurting because I have issues with this ONE tooth and should have NEVER had the cold ice cream on it.....vent ramble vent ramble

Bad night for this bad seed. I'm a bad daughter.................my mother was in a wreck in August. My son was with her. They had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. I was still in Texas, and was called out of school meetings by the hospital. They wouldn't tell me anything about either of their conditions on the 4 hour drive there. Upon arriving, we found that my son had deep seatbelt bruising, but had been released. My mother had been careflighted to another state's hospital with a tear in her liver and dropping blood pressure. It was another 2 hour drive with no word up there. When we got there, we found her liver tear had apparently resolved itself. She had a badly broken ankle, and we later learned a broken hip socket on opposite legs. She had operations on both.

So fast forward. She's been completely off both all this time, and just given the green light to use a walker. Her dr.s say she's healing fine. She has pain, they gave her meds. She can't work in my parents' business, but she's doing the books from home. She was worried about the bills, but found out after the two insurance companies settle, medicare will cover what they don't. So everything is going along.

Mom calls often to tell me about what is happening. She doesn't like her dr.s. Doesn't think they take her seriously. Nobody wants to help her she says. My brother has some medical background as a therapist in a hospital, and he says all is being done that can be. She calls to talk to me and I tell her I'm sorry. I tell her I wish I could do something. I make suggestions, all are impossible or she's already tried that and it didn't work. I don't make suggestions, she thinks I'm not talking to her. I don't know what else she wants. Today she called and I tried just like I said........I made suggestions, I said I was sorry...............she said finally, "there's other stuff too, but you don't want to hear that" and hung up on me.

I don't know what I'm supposed to do.

Ouch!! I have a lot of sympathy for anyone with any sort of mouth pain.
