That's what I thought. Her book list in my opinion stinks. Here's her choices. There all boy books!

The House of the Scorpion - Nancy Farmer

Eragon - Chris Paolini

The City of the Beasts - Isabelle Allende

Ellen Foster - Kaye Gibbons (She read this one already! LOVED it!)

Ender's Game - Scott Card

Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen (I thin it's going to be too long to read by Monday!)

Mississippi Trail - Chris Crowe

Choosing Up Sides - John Ritter

Bronx Masquerade - Nikki Grimes

Dragonwings - Laurence Yep

Tangerine - Edward Bloor

*She doesn't like those fantasy type books* Do you have any recommendations? :)

Yes, I totally agree; that list is really awful. Not enough variety, and they are very long.

Umm..I recommend all the fantasy ones! Esp. Eragon, but it's very long.

Nikki Grimes is a wonderful author. I heard Bronx was very good, but I don't have first hand experience.

I read House of the Scorpian for my graduate class. It's about cloning. Kind of exciting, but again long. I don't like Science Fiction, but if she does it would be a good choice.

Ender's Game is also very good Scific. I actually like that one and it's not too long.

I go with either Bronx or Ender's Game.

Hi Bonnie! :wave2:

Well ladies I'm off! Hopefully I can get my mind to stop thinking about DH's new job so i can sleep!

See you tomorrow!

Waaaah! Sarah's leaving!

Have a great night! That's very exciting about the Horned King's job!

Thanks, Minty and Sarah! :)

I'll see what we can do. She needs to read as much as possible, as quickly as possible!

What's up, Denise? Better crack the whip at your house! :teeth:

DH and I went to Target to pick up school supplies for the girls. We also stopped by a teacher's store, but it was not that great. I need one like Learning Is Fun that I used to go to in Vegas. They had a big selection of stuff.

I have a lot of Kindergarten stuff, but nothing for Pre-K, so I'll need to get a bunch of stuff. My class is gonna be FAB! :thumbsup2

We had tacos for dinner. How about everybody else?

Denise - Every student in our 7th and 8th grade last year, plus all incoming 6th graders were given a summer reading assignment. They have until Aug 18th to turn it in. Of my 102 students, I've gotten a total of 5 handed in.

I told them if I get their book reports by Friday, they get an additional 25 pts. If I get them by Wed they get an additional 10 pts. I'm still not sure how many I'll get, but your DD is not the only procrastinator!!!!!! :rotfl:

Howdy-doo, Karen! Are you adjusting to the new school year? Or is it still chaotic?

Dinner here was homemade hamburgers.

She will be reading ASAP! Public library, tommorrow!

Well DS has a friend over and they're LOUD and WILD!

Better go crack that whip tonight! :)

Talk to you guys later! :wave2:

Not I said the fly...or the Jay...whichever, I am still awake. Is anybody else?

Good Morning! I'm up early!

Karen- Looks like you're already off, but have a Terrific Thursday! Let us know how your day went this afternoon. Don't let those kids over rule you! :)

Is anyone else online? :confused3

This morning i got up very early, made blueberry muffins, walked the dogs, checked my email, DISed, did two loads of laundry, and DISed some more. I'm on a roll! :woohoo:

Is anyone here yet?

Thanks, Alisa! I'm still working with it. As you know by now, I'm never satisfied. :sad2: I love the "Denise" and the "Mad Chatters" icons, but I can't get the format quite right. So what's up with you?

I think there was a storm here last night, I remember hearing thunder at some point, but I was so tired that I slept through it.

I can't believe you did all that already this morning. My brain doesn't fully function this early.

LOL! I love getting up early and getting things accomplished. It doesn't happen often though. It will when I go back to work, though.

Today we have to make a stop at the public library. Hopefully we can find DD the book that she needs for school.
