Sorry for dropping off, dh came out of the bedroom with wrapped gifts and wanted to finish trimming the tree. I thought it best just to go..........I'll be back soon.

At least that is when it was in the past. The first time they offered it everyone said they would never offer it again...but they did. I wonder if they will offer it again this year. The promotion has been annouced in late spring/early summer both of those times...the rooms that are reserved for that promotion are limited and you have to jump quickly once they are "out" to get the resort you want. But if you are willing to not be picky about which resort the ressies aren't that hard to get for the stay...it's the ADRs that are KILLER during free dining...they are all snapped up way early. We saw signs out "NO TABLE SERVICE walk ups today" at some of the parks while we were there. Also they were offering "free gifts" to use your table service as a counter service meal. It was crazy. The really sad thing was the seats were only about half full in the TS places...people just made them and didn't show (for the most part).

When we went, it was the first time they offered it...we only had two ADR's...but we got into a couple of places with no problem (Spoodles and ESPN). Everything else we ate was either CS or at the concierge lounge.

DID you ever calculate exactly what you saved, JAY...I bet it is TONS!!!

Then combined with early Sept...you could easily go very cost effective that time.....

I know you have a select time period to GRAB the free dining...right!!!

Maybe we should aim for September...even if they don't do free dining they will do "something" to make it worth while to travel then...they have done something for the past 7 years (we have gone in September every one of those years but two when we had Goofy (I mean Grusome) and when we moved into our newest house).

Our anniversary is September 20 and I know we'd like to be there again at that time (low crowds)...but I WILL be taking supplies!

When we went, it was the first time they offered it...we only had two ADR's...but we got into a couple of places with no problem (Spoodles and ESPN). Everything else we ate was either CS or at the concierge lounge.

The first year we went we didn't see those signs or hear "horror stories"...but this past year...it must have been stinky to be those without the ADRs. Lucky for my family...I am compulsive about having our plans set MONTHS ahead of time

Yeah, and the first year was right after Katrina too...so I'm sure that had an effect.

I didn't know too much about pre-planning then...and DH isn't big on "schedules". We probably wouldn't change much...just make one or two ADR's for places we know we want to go, then kinda wing it for everything else.

Yep...well...one of them. I usually do three (two really and a small Toy Story one we got for DS at the Disney Store) but this year I haven't had the energy or the inclination. I think it may be a one tree year...although the Toy Story small tree will be out within a few days (DS is asking for it).

we hope to get ours up this weekend...but those plans are subject to change at a whim! DH has to find all the decorations at the storage unit...I hate putting up a tree for a couple of weeks...for all that work, I want it up as long as possible (say February or so! )

With the way the places were half empty...I think walk ups would have been allowed in...even with the signs.
