The LUCKY Muffin Spoke to Me - Halloween at WDW & Summer 2011 at DLR - 01/09/11

I got it through Alamo. I pick it up at the Dolphin and return it there the next day.

I believe the amount is $75.00 with the insurance I took, so it was not too bad. I am doing it more for convenience.

What beautiful photos! I love how the boys incorporated pink into their outfits and the shades of their pink match the shades you and your mom are wearing!

Sorry to hear that your mom has had to go through cancer so many times. She really is a fighter! I'm sure you look up to her very much and she is very proud to have you as a daughter. I know my mom will be extra happy when I'm in Disney this October because I'll be with my younger brother and it will be our first time being there together since we went with her, and that was over 7 years ago! I'd like to post a memorial to her on the DIS but I'm not sure where the most appropriate place for that would be. There is a memorial page but it seems as though it's only for members of the DIS board who have passed.

I'll donate to your team! The event I'm interested in joining here is the Canadian Cancer Society Relay for Life but I just found out it starts in a couple weeks which wouldn't give me enough time to put a team of 10 together and raise the money. I believe the American Cancer Society has the same event down there. It's a 12 hour overnight walk/run and they have a candlelight vigil and survivors start the night off with a victory lap. It would be a grueling 12 hours but so worth it!

I haven't actually booked the trip yet as I have to coordinate with my brother and stepdad who are both last minute planners! they always left it up to my mom who would gladly plan all the Disney trips. When I was younger we all thought she was crazy for planning months and months in advance but when it came time for me to plan my first trip as an adult last year it finally all made sense! The dates I'm looking at are Wed. Oct. 27 to Wed. Nov. 3. Since Halloween is my birthday, I'd like to get tickets for the Sun. Oct. 31 MNSSHP. We're also definitely going to Island of Adventure to see the Harry Potter World, and I'd also like to go to Universal Studio's Halloween Horror. Universal hasn't posted their October calendar yet though so it's hard to plan everything at this point. I never thought about doing a ptr! Maybe I'll start one once I have everything booked, but I may wait until next time as this is only my second go at planning a Disney trip!

Thanks for the advice about the values...we may end up having to book at pop if I don't get a free dining pin and/or it doesn't get extended to the GP after Oct. 2. The new rooms at pop actually look really nice! I know we won't be spending all that much time in our rooms anyway, so either way we'll have a great time. :)

Hey girl! Those pictures of you and your beautiful mother brought a tear to my eye. I admire both of you so much for being so brave through her struggles! I am really close to my mom, too. She had open heart surgery when she was only 37 and I thank God everyday that she was strong enough to pull through. I fully believe mothers are angels in disguise! :lovestruc

Thank you for the compliments!! I've never seen my DF in any sort of pink, so it was a good change. My DH wears pink in support of my mom all the time, but it's a new color for DF's wardrobe. (He actually borrowed the tie from DH.) Haha!

I have participated in Relay for Life before! It was a long night, but we had a lot of fun. I would definitely rec getting involved with it next year. Those events are so inspiring. They typically have some sort of way to honor anyone that has had cancer, too. At the ones I have done, they had white, paper bags that you wrote the name on and we put candles in them. They lit the candles when it got dark. Pretty, pretty experience! (I'll send you the link to my Race for the Cure page in a PM, btw!!)

Let me know as soon as you book and where you decide to stay! We'll be there until the 30th. I would love to meet another DIS'er! DH and I have met another DIS'er couple in person and absolutely adore them! (Hi, Staci!! :goodvibes)

Have you been to US/IOA? I love those parks! If you need any tips, please let me know!! We did a two week trip last December - half there and half at WDW. I try to go over there at least a day every time we stay at WDW, too. We'll be heading over to IOA just to check out HP, too! DH wants to go to Horror Nights, but I've heard its terrifying and I'm a huge chicken. We'll see if I make it!

Exactly; you're still at WDW! Can't beat that! Like I said too, I'm normally really picky about hotels/resorts, and I was very impressed with POP! I don't think you can go wrong there!

Awww. :cloud9:

I definitely agree. I don't know where I'd be without my mom. (Look! Another thing in common - momma's girls!) :goodvibes

Hi readers! (To those of you that have PTRs, I promise I will catch up this weekend! I've been without the laptop at home this week because DH is taking it to work at one of his tutoring locations at night. I owe lots of comments!)

I had to sneak on at work for a quick update, though.

I have a DIS friend (hi, Staci!) that suggested looking in to renting DVC points from a member. I've been checking in to it for a while, but never got "that" feeling from a member quite yet and I have huge business trust issues after working in the legal industry/preparing for law school. But, I finally found someone that I completely trusted and who was willing to give me the information I requested to check several items (deed/property ownership, home phone/address, work information, etc.)

Well, long story short, he spent a lot of time emailing back and forth with me trying to get a reservation that DH and I wanted. We had requested a standard view, AKV studio. But, after checking for us several times, October 28 was completely booked. I didn't want to be waitlisted and then have to move to another resort for October 28 if nothing opened, and then back to AKV on the 29. So, I momentarily gave up until he explained how a split DVC stay worked.

He said that if we wanted to stay at AKV until the 28, concierge would pick up our bags from our room and move them to our new resort. We wouldn't even have to be there; we'd go to the park from AKV and go to the new resort for that night when we were done at the park.

I talked to DH, and he said let's give it a shot! We sat down and looked at the other DVC resorts and picked our choices. We also decided that if we were going to go for a split stay, we'd want to do 4 nights at AKV and 3 at the other resort (move on the 27) so that we'd have a few days to check out the other property, too.

I told the member let's do it! He emailed me back after checking with member services, and said all but ONE DVC resort was completely booked for October 28 because of MNSSHP. (I almost picked that party and was still tearing myself to pieces about it because we'd be missing DHS EMH if I didn't buy tickets for the 28, but thankfully, I bought tickets for another night instead even though we won't get DHS EMH. So at least I know now that the 28 is going to be a busy party and I made the right choice there!) The standard view was now gone for AKV and we had no idea if there was any sort of studio open. Things were all kinds of up-in-the-air.

At that point, I said JUST BOOK IT and didn't care what the only other resort open was for the 28. I'd been so looking forward to spending part of our trip at AKV and was going to be so disappointed if it didn't work out.

After the longest hour of my life, I received an email from this awesome member that said "YOU GOT IT!"

So, our resort plans have changed!!!

I am beyond excited to post this:

October 23 (check-in) - October 27 (check-out): AKV, studio, SAVANNAH view!!!
October 27 (check-in) - October 30 (check-out): SSR, studio

I know nothing about SSR, so I've been researching and am debating if I want to put in a room request since they don't have a difference between preferred or standard view. It wasn't our first choice on the list we made either, but from what I've been looking at, it looks beautiful and it'll be nice to be so close to DTD!

This has been me the last few days: :cool1::cool1::cool1::yay::yay::yay::cool1::cool1::cool1:

YAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's fantastic!! I'm so glad that it's all worked out--and that you get to try two amazing resorts!!!! :woohoo::yay::thumbsup2:cheer2:

That is so exciting!! I'm so happy that it all worked out for you and DH!! :yay: I can't wait to see pictures from your Savannah view! :goodvibes

Thanks, ladies!!!

I've re-named my Mickey head chocolate chip muffin the LUCKY muffin!!

Maybe when you get your craftroom, I'll paint a lucky muffin for you ;)

Such exciting news! I hope you'll take lots of pictures!!

I'm sure I'll have more pictures that I'll know what to do with! I wasn't planning on bringing my DSLR this trip, but I might have to reconsider now!!

We have a full day off while we're at AKV, so I plan on doing a lot of exploring!

Hey Heather!!

I am here for your PTR and can't wait to hear about your Halloween trip! :)

Hey Heather!

Just joining in! We will be at WDW from 10/19 - 10/29 , staying at CSR!

That is sooo awesome about the DVC points! This trip is already starting out amazing for you guys! We'll be going to MNSSHP on the 19th after we arrive (our flight is scheduled to land at right after 2pm so we should have plenty of time to get there!) and again on 10/26. The 26th is our "day off" so we have the whole day to rest and relax and then hit up the party that night!

Hello!! I'm glad to have you. I get dorkily excited when I get new readers! :yay:

Hi! I'm going to head over to your PTR, too.

I'd love to do a DIS meet!! Maybe some of our plans will overlap a bit! I haven't posted my details, but I'll go see if you have yours up yet!

Have you gone to MNSSHP before? This will be our first time; I'm so excited! I hope we can fit everything that we want to do in that night. I have no plans to ride any rides that night, so hopefully it'll work out!! Are you going to dress up?

Congrats on the savanna view. I might be there. :rolleyes1

I have not bought any tickets yet for any party and I don't think I will. Think we will be skipping it this year. I think. :lmao:

Have a great weekend.
