The LUCKY Muffin Spoke to Me - Halloween at WDW & Summer 2011 at DLR - 01/09/11

I'm back from my internet leave of absence! I am so sorry I have been gone so long! I need one of our chat sessions ASAP! I miss you! :lovestruc

Super cute visor - where'd ya find that?!

Also, where is this infamous Joni who "made" me go out and find that treat back - I want to thank her on The DIS :goodvibes

Hi!! I'm Joni! :wave2: I'm glad you were able to get the bag, too! It should hold lots of candy and goodies when you go to MNSSHP! :)

all caught up.

We r having the HP talk. I get vertigo and I really do not want that to happen while I am there.

Might just do the 2 parks and looks around HP.

Congrats on DL, I have not been in 15 years.

I decided a ride isn't worth getting sick on, so I'll wait until I know more about it! I definitely understand your debate! Hope you end up making a happy decision!

Hey, you stole my bag! :lmao:

I like the visor, too :) I don't wear them, but that one's cute!

Thanks!! I don't normally wear hats either, but I thought it was too cute to pass up!

I think you deffinetly could. The place is huge and not too many people know about it. The only place we saw in DLR that had a wait time over 20 minutes was the Blue Bayou (which I'd deffinetly go to, it looked very cool!!!)

Great; thanks for the advice! (BB is definitely on my list, too!)

Love that Halloween bag! Each time we've been in the fall I've always been tempted to get it. It's so cute. I may just break down and get it if they have it out when we're there.

I think you NEED it!

Yay for Disneyland!

Boo for June! If I end up going there is no chance at all it can be at the same time.

Aww; sorry!!

Hey...that visor reminds me of something ;)

Looks fantastic!

What fun new Disney Trip items! The visor is super cute, and what a sweet surprise!!

Thank you!!

hey Heather- i finally made it over! love the plans so far! and YEAH for Disneyland too!! woo hoo- we really are twinkies now! :wizard: We so need to gtg and talk up DL- i leave in a month!

For DL- we have booked (60days out for there)- storytellers, Steakhouse 55, Blue Bayou and Carnation Cafe. We will do fast food or play it by ear on everything else. We are also doing the walk in walt's footsteps tour!

so jealous you saw B&B- i wanted to, but the timing didn't work out with all my stuff at work and going out of town for work. Wasn't it at the new theatre downtown too- it looks so amazing!

yes, you have to check out the podcasts- i've been listening to the DIS podcast for years now. I did the podcast cruise with all of them last May and they also did a party at TSM we got to go to on this last trip- rode TSM to our heart's content after hours! :wizard:

i wnat to see what hallmark ornaments you got- my mom got the caraousel one at the grapevine mills hallmark!

okay, gotta run to the gym at lunch and get back in time for a meeting. but will definitely be reading up more later.

I know I still owe pictures of my ornaments!

We'll definitely be talking DLR soon!! BTW, one of the weekends we were looking at is tax free weekend, so Firewheel might be nuts!

Cute WDW trip swag! I can't wait to do my shopping!

You'll have to post pics of what you buy!

All caught up again! :yay:

I LOVE all of your purchases! I wish we had a Disney store here somewhere - unfortunately the closest ones are in Paris and London - over 1000 km away! :rotfl2:
And BTW - I love that bag too - it's on display in my wardrobe! ;)

We used to have several Disney Stores in the area, but most of them have shut down. They're opening one of those new advanced stores in our area soon though; I'm hoping to go check it out!

I'm back from my internet leave of absence! I am so sorry I have been gone so long! I need one of our chat sessions ASAP! I miss you! :lovestruc

I hope this week is going GREAT!!! Hoping we can catch up soon!

Subbing! We will be there at the same time. We get in the 28th as of now we are not doing a Halloween party but who knows if I will break lol. We are doing MVMCP and KTTK.

Welcome!!! I love new readers!

I'm so excited about MNSSHP! I think you will definitely want to go once you get there and see the decor that is out during the day, so you should probably go ahead and buy tickets!

I will have to head over to your PTR! Maybe some of our plans will overlap for our last day or two!

Oh, WDW and your planning antics.

I was sitting at work today trying to keep busy after a very rough night.

(Long story short, but I woke up to a crying kitty in my face, and turned on the light only to find bloody urine right next to my face by crying kitty, and her brother completely freaking out because he knew something was wrong. My fur babies are my kids, so it was a terribly long day worrying until I got her to the vet this afternoon. After some not-fun tests, we found out that she has a bladder infection. Thankfully, she and her bubba figured out a way to tell us because she's going to be just fine! But, if we hadn't caught it, it could've led to some really, really bad issues.)

Luckily, I was busy at work, but I spent my break thinking Disney to keep distracted. Annnnd, that normally leads to some additions to our trip.

I'm now thinking about having our DVC renter add on the QSDP.

We'd end up with 14 QS meals and 28 snack credits to split over 7 days (plus, the refillable mug.) If we do this, I think I'd cancel Chefs to get our use out of the snack credits at F&W. (My understanding is that you can use your snack credits at the booths; please let me know if that is incorrect!)

The plan would be around $450.00 for us to add on. We would keep Sci-Fi and Boma as OOP. I'm just now debating if I think we'd spend over $450.00 OOP if we didn't do the plan.

I figure we would spend at least $20.00 OOP for each QS meal, and then whatever we spend on snacks.

Thoughts? Opinions?

PAH-LEASE help me decide!

I was about to suggest you find out if you can still add on free dining, but then I remembered you guys are renting DVC :lmao: I'm going on free dining (but I upgraded to the basic plan). Well... One thing I'd suggest would be looking at the menus on AllEars or this site and seeing about how much you guys think you'd be spending per meal, then seeing if you'd save with the plan. That's how we decided to go deluxe for our trip next year :)

Hi Joni! :wave2:

Headed over to catch up on you PTR

Heather, you know my thoughts on this already. I like the ease of having my meals paid for before we arrive... that's just me :goodvibes

I think thats deffinetly a good idea. The problem with the DP for us is we didnt really save much money because we wouldn't have actually gotten a dessert every single night. At the same time, this might be different for you guys. I'd say figure out how many things you'll possibly be adding on (i.e. dessert, appetizer, alcohol) to your regular entree before buying and get a general sense of cost per meal.

Hm...tough decisions! I think that since you're going to go ahead and keep your 2 TS restaurants, it might not be worth it. My aunt and uncle did the QSDP and said there were WAY too many snack credits to use. And if you don't get dessert at your meals, you will probably end up saving money by just paying OOP. But those are just my thoughts. We love the DDP because of the TS restaurants, and we'll probably always get it, but I don't know about the QS... :confused3

Aw, so glad to hear your cat is okay!

I think I'd pass on the QSDP. I don't think it's worth it. DH and I tend to share things at QS restaurants and when we went in January we had TONS of snack credits left over -- and we LOVE to eat! I came home w/ an obscene amount of rice crispy treats.

I'm glad your kitty is ok!

If I were you, I'd try to figure out just how much I'd be saving doing the QSDP, if it's a good enough amount, go for it! I LOVE the DDP, I love not having to worry about having money to eat, except for any alcohol we might get and tip for the TS meals, but it's not for everyone. It will be nice to have snack credits for the Food and Wine fest so that's another thing you don't have to worry about spending money on! :)

I honestly love the dining plans. It's worth the peace of mind to have everything paid in advance. I'm pretty positive you can use snack credits for most F+W items. I think you should go for it! :thumbsup2
Also-- good thing you figured out what was wrong with your kitty! Glad to hear she'll be fine!!

I think I get ill from too much CS but if you look around I am sure you can get healthy yummy choices. The mug is great, and yes you can use credits for F&W so that is a bonus. I love the dining plan because it is all paid for ahead of time (we are even doing DxDP this time) so I say go for it!

Hi! I am finally working on getting caught up on your PTR! I think the visor and the bag are absolutely adorable! Where did you get the bag? I am thinking that might be perfect for me to carry to MNSSHP! I love it! Also, I am in agreement with everybody else, check the prices on Allears and see if QSDP would be a good buy for you, but remember the F&W Festival brings lots of options for snacks!
Leeanne

I'm pretty sure the F&W booths count as snacks. So for that, QSDP might make sense.
Do you usually split QS meals? Be sure to factor that in when you look at menu prices to see how much money you would be spending OOP vs what the QSDP costs.

Good luck figuring it out!

So glad to hear your kitty is OK! My boy cat blocked around last Dec. and I was so glad he came and 'showed' me that he couldn't pee. If it had gone any longer, he might not have made it! Cats can be so smart...

I'm so glad that Baby is okay!

Please forgive me for being absent from the internet so much lately! I am really working at adjusting to this hectic work schedule. I will definitely be on some tonight and a lot this weekend though! :)

Hmmm...this is a tough decision. I think the QSDP would be a good idea if you can use the snack credits for the F&W booths. But I don't want yout have to cancel Chefs! :confused3

So glad your kiki (that's "kitty" in my language :rotfl2: ) is OK! My dog has been on meds for 2 weeks now for mites...the poor thing was going bald. She was starting to look like Two Face by the time I finally brought her in. We had an appointment but it was getting worse by the day so I brought her to the emergency appointment. $137 later....and we go back for a follow up on the 14th.

Here I am, about to ask you to support me in my planning withdrawal and you are just as bad as me! I am making changes a mile a minute to our schedule because I have ZERO to do all day at work while they're paying me $18 an hour to be there!

I agree with the other posters who said to check out the menus, although I recommend actually going to disneyworld.com and using their menus if you can (to be honest, I'm not 100% positive they have QS menus), but I've found that the ones on AllEars and WDWinfo.com are out of date a lot of the time. I booked lunch at Kona Cafe based on the menu on WDWinfo and the one on the Disney site is completely different. Write down everything you think you would get along with the prices and take that with you to WDW. That way, you can compare what you THOUGHT you would get with what you ACTUALLY got. Granted, that doesn't help you make a decision for THIS year, but you'll know for the future anyway! We did that back in 2008 and found that the DDP doesn't do anything for us. And at that time, the tip was still included. Last year, we just put aside $350 each, and charged everything, got 5% cashback from Discover and paid it off interest free when we got back.

Thank you all of your suggestions on the QSDP!! DH and I are going to try to sit down soon and go over the pricing on what we think we would order to see if it is worth it!

Thanks also for the good thoughts towards my kitty! She is doing much, much better and getting back to her diva self!

I'm hoping to get an update done and catch up on everyone's PTRs tonight! My LSAT is in two months, and I'm taking a prep class, so I haven't had much spare time to get online! I have a (4 hour) practice test today at 4:00pm, and will hopefully be back afterwards!

I want to thank you all in advance for hanging in there with me, too! It's going to be a very, very busy two months. I have my class/at-home study time, and I'm beginning my applications too. (I'm taking the entire day off tomorrow just to start working on those!) I'm going to try to keep up here as much as I can, though!

My LSAT is October 9, and I'm hoping to have my applications done right around that time, too. After that, I'll be back up and running with full-force Disney 24/7 as I'm sure I'll need a break by then (or, locked in a padded room after the loony thoughts that occur due to LSAT prep.)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!
