Today is Mr. Middle's birthday. I have to make a cake. He likes the color green so I am going to have to make a green cake. He likes trains and firetrucks. No way am I even going to attempt any of that. Next year, I will just have mdrob do one for me. She makes such Winner cakes.

okay John's mother of all mothers was just here. She dropped of a gift card to the hairdresser I go to and for the mall for me. She told John that since I have been sick and going thru so much I need a day to shop and just pamper myself.

Just go to Walmart and buy a few Matchbox firetrucks...Frost your cake green and stick them on top. He won't care how bad it looks, because he gets to keep the firetrucks...I have done this a couple of times with a Hot Wheels cake for DSs'.

It's not very hard at all--really! I just decorated with oreo wheels, and used pretzels, twizzlers

I swear it isn't hard at all. Just bake and freeze the cake. After it gets firm, cut it (otherwise it falls apart) then get a can or two of frosting and red food coloring. Frost it and then you can buy those little tubes of black to draw the lines. I used oreos for wheels and made a ladder on the side from those little pretzel sticks, then twizzlers for a hose. Maybe candies for lights, but you don't need those.
