DisBoard Members,
I am the Mother of Stephanie, and the grandmother of Alexis, Phoenix, and Jacob. In July 2002 this community gave my daughter who was dying of melanoma cancer her greatest wish. That before she died, she would take her beloved children to Disney World. You people, made that wish come true. Stephanie was blessed with the greatest loving friends anyone could ever hope for. Her company "Dart Dist" and the people there she loved all banded together to support her during her tragic illness. Stephanie was 24 when she was diagnosed. I want to personally thank Tammy, (tkyes to all of you), Dawn, and Nona as well as all whom I do not know your names.
Merle, Tony, Patrick and Catherine who allowed their employees to fund raise and put this all together sometimes on company time. And to all of you blessed people, who truly gave my beautiful beloved daughter a dream beyond imagination, a gift of love so truly selfless you will all be remembered all of my life with joy.
Three days after we returned from Disney our house flooded and when we went to get a machine to suck up the water my husband had a seizure and was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
Stephanie died January 14, 2003 at home. I was with her holding her hand.
My mother then died on February 6, 2003 a mere three weeks after Stephanie, and my husband died on August 08, 2003 also here at home with me.
I have been numbed with grief for so long I simply couldn't do anything but exist day to day. I apologize for the length of time that it has taken to write this letter of thanks.
Stephanie had another dream. During her many hospitalizations, one time I asked her what if anything did she wished for and she replied "I wish I had a room filled with flowers so I can smell them instead of the smell of the hospital. I went downstairs and bought all the flowers I could afford, but it was sorely lacking in "filling the room".
At her memorial, when I arrived, the room was completely filled with flowers, more flowers then any other in the history of this funeral home. Over 315 people came from all over the United States and the cards and sympathy letters came from all over the world with some of you as senders. I thank each and every one of you with all my heart. I wish there was a way to say thank you that would truly show you how much it meant to Stephanie, Alexis, Phoenix, and Jacob to have these memories and how very much they were appreciated.
Alexis, Phoenix, and Jacob thank you. They had a dream come true and talk about this trip to this day with laughter and wonder in their eyes. It was truly an awesome experience.
I will post the trip highs separately.
Thank you
