THE LIBERAL THREAD #3- No Debate Please

I was listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show yesterday and he mentioned a DVC special that is running until the 15th.

I you purchase by then DVC will give you $1000.00 toward your deposit. You also receive a free 3 night vacation if you purchase the min. number of points. If you purchase the next level of points, you get a 5 night vacation.

I have no idea where the free vacation can be used (a parent walked into to my class at that point so I had to turn off the radio)

That's one of the incentives I got when I bought DVC in 2005.

Here is a site that lists current incentives and tends to be pretty reliable.

You know what, I hope Palin IS the nominee for the GOP, b/.c Obama will win another term.....seriously, until the GOP stops pandering to the religous right, they will continue to be a joke party.

When I first found out about DVC, I really wanted to buy a VWL resale. I actually think my husband would prefer that, but BLT is my first choice. Also, BLT is probably the only way we could stay at the CR, because we have three kids.
The DVC mantra is "buy where you want to stay." Are you looking into a 3-BR Grand Villa? That's A LOT of points. I know that they new resorts (BLT and AKV) are able to fit 5 in a 1BR now. The master has a king bed and there is a double fold out plus a fold out chair in the living room. You may be able to get away with that if 2 of your kids will sleep together. Otherwise, you will have to go with a 2 BR.

well... once again, so much for fewer taxes from republicans.

Puerto Rico's newly elected republican governor just announced massive tax hikes and new taxes.

Property tax increases, including taxes on houses previously exempt due to low value; 1 cent per minute cellphone tax (on all lines with a 787 or 939 area code, and any cellphone roaming in PR); a moratorium on all tax deductions.

Yup... so much for republicans.

Don't ya just hate it when they act like Democrats? :lmao:

nope... I hate it when they say they won't touch taxes and do.

And he's also laying off 11,000 gov. employees... after saying he'd reduce the government's labor budget without any job losses.

Nothing says motherhood better then vomit covered clothes.

Personally, I am dire need of a siesta. My 4 year old has been waking up from the same nightmare for a week. She is so frightened upon awakening that it takes up to an hour to calm her down so she can fall back asleep.
She has told me the content of this nightmare each night after awakening and it seems to go the same way each time. The rabbit from the Trix cereal box is hiding in a closet. When Max (from Max & Ruby a nick Jr. cartoon) opens the closet, the rabbit jumps out and eats grandma.
WTH

Yup. I had twins with reflux. Not good. At one point, I remember looking down and thinking, oh, that vomit dried. Maybe I'll just wait until later to change.

Poor baby. That's really sad about the nightmares. I hope they stop.

Thanks!!! He is quite the ham too!!:goodvibes

Very cute--both of them.

Darn parents. I would love to buy now, but we have to wait until early fall, at the soonest. I'm hoping they have similar incentives then.

Thank you.

Ahh. I saw where you were poking at the Cons. We hope the same thing about Palin. She is the gift that keeps on giving.

I saw how much those three bedrooms were. Who can afford that!? 700 or more points for a week during value season. We're thinking the two-bedroom at the most, although we could probably do a one.

well... I found away around the cellphone tax.

I'm not a resident of PR, so I just called and changed my US based number to a USVI area code.

Adios 787... hello 340.

I would love to buy into the DVC, if only I could convince my husband!!!;)

I am just glad that the buy 4 get 3 happened because it really helped my case with my husband for this year!! We are headed down in June to WL.....maybe we can take a look at those Villas and the "magic" of being there may soften his stance! :hippie:

Speaking of children, I just cleaned up three vomiting episodes from my daughter after preschool today, one of which was on me. And one from the cat, not on me. She's napping on fresh sheets. The cat, I tossed outside. I suppose it's too early to start drinking.

hahhahaha..No more child vomit for me, cat? Always..I bought in May of 2001. I was a Disney novice still. I made my first trip after my older kids had grown and my youngest was 15. I fell in love with the magic.

My son has only gone once, as a child with his Dad. My eldest and her family have come with me on a number of trips. I have gotten two studio's for her family of four and mine, two bedrooms and we cruised last August.(rented those points too) I have definately optimized the membership! :cloud9:

Ummm... you guys are messing with my head! I read this as LakeAriel having a 25 year old and a preschooler! Looks like someone needs more practice with the multi-quote thingy. :rolleyes1

LOL! That wasn't a quote but a copy and paste..I tend to do that and then by the time I post there are 6 responses in between and none of it makes sense..But then again so much on here doesn't...;)

PS I cleaned it up a bit...I often feel as though I do have preschools anyway.....:rolleyes1

Looks like he had little choice.

I expect to hear the same from Obama. It was worse than we expected.
He had other choices.

Among the unpublished proposals were two that I am in favor of.

1- Raise tuition at the public Universities. Right now, PR fluctuates between $35-45 per undergrad credit for in-state tuition. A student that qualifies for a full pell grant can get a bachelors degree, pay for housing, books, and materials, and still pocket a bit of leftover on a pell grant. It would hardly hurt anything to raise the rate to $55/credit

2- Privatize the Utilities. I am in favor of this, if only to remove the government monopolies. I am certain that if sold, and the government only collecting tax (with no overhead), within a year, the deficit could be reduced in half.

However, I am definitely against raising cellphone taxes to 1 cent per minute. That's an extra $30/month based on last months usage of my 787 phone. That's enough that I changed my 787 cellphone to a 340 number.

Hell, I gave Fortuño a present a month ago when I suggested that transportation and public works should do some vanity plate designs and charge an extra $25 for them. Judging by the sales of the Veteran plate (over 20000 in 18 months), they could be a money pit for the island.

But what do I care... I'm not a resident anymore. Just someone who spends 2-3 days/week on island ;)

Libs...tsk tsk...

Where be my daily countdown?

:sad2:

Let's get this darn party started again...

Ahem...*clears throat*

11 days libbies!!!!

Can I get an amen?

Yes. I've returned from my sabbatical. I was protesting the demolition of the rain forests of South America. Quite an experience. I learned how to make my own canoe out of recycled newspapers. I have the plans if anyone wants them.

When we chained ourselves to the giant tree next to the river...I had flashbacks of you all. And your fight in standing up for what you believe. And I say this...

Don't. Stop. The. Fight.

I'll post pics of my canoe later. And maybe my newly aquired tattoo. Where I had "Kiss me...I'm liberal" tattooed on my neck. Where everyone can see, o' course.

:hippie: out libbies. Missed ya'll.

Yay! You're back. We want to hear all about it. And yes, we've been slacking on the count.

I'll join you in t he 11 day dance. :cool1:  :dance3:

I forgot to say that while I was away...my little terrorists went and found themselves some jobs. :sad1:

Working at a local dairy farm.

*sniff* *sniff* *sniffly sniff*

They come home every evening smelling like cow poo. I've put the hose outside for them to shower off with before they ever step inside.

They're "adjusting" so well. Makes my heart swell.
