Off that topic...

At Christmas my son brought up the shoe incident in Iraq with Bush. This election really stirred him, I have never seen him so politically active. He was pretty conservation while he was a student in Boston College, but he really did a complete turn after these 8 Bush years. He was really stricken when it was brought home how disrespected Bush is worldwide. He was actually humiliated. Imagine the laughing stock Bush will be in the years to come, even here in the US?
It is shameful.

Oh no. History will be kind to George Bush.

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

Sorry. Did I have a typo? I was laughing my *** off when I typed that.

I am still hoping for the indictment for war crimes...I know I am a cockeyed optimist, but I think someone who deliberately causes the death of thousands is a criminal.

What were the blankets in for?

Nothing worse than a blanket gone bad.

K...totally read what you wrote incorrectly...

I need to change my punchline...hmmmm...what were the blankets in for?

For covering...

Nah...that's no good.

Laying down with dogs and getting up with fleas?

Nope.

Being in bed with the bad guys?

You get the gist, John.

 I'm glad to hear the news about your friend. I hope for his continued healing and improved health.

It was probably that time as a ski bum (instructor) that opened his eyes. Aren't you glad you let him do it?

I think there is a fundamental (pardon the pun) lack of understanding of the dynamics of the situation the GOP finds itself in. There seems to be some irrationality along the lines of being able to make the party more inclusive, while retaining all the intolerance that is already there. Uh, sorry... but that won't work.

The good news is that there is a lot more space to expand into, in the realm of tolerance, if intolerance is left behind. The question is whether the party is brave enough to do the right thing.

Well Saltsman just blew his chance to chair the RNC. The guys an idiot.

The interesting thing is that there are major people in the republican party that want to move the party closer to the center, and I hope they they win out over the intolerant right. The GOP has died due to the far right, they need an inclusive leader and an inclusive message. If they choose to stay on the same path, they are done.

Ringing in 2009 is especially meaningful this year. It is truly our with the old and in with the new.:cool1: :cool1:

I'm not Catholic, but I have a St. Francis figurine that hangs from my wall near the bird cages. As for getting along...the cats are afraid of most of the birds. Ever since the Macaw bit one of the cats tails, the rest of the cats have avoided the birds :rotfl2:

QUOTE]

Though raised Catholic, I don't embrace any organized religion now and can be described as agnostic if not..gasp..a heathen!

That said, Francis was a lover of animals and worked tirelessly for the poor so he is the only ceramic object/icon allowed on my lawn..;) (except snow white and many of the dwarfs of course...:goodvibes

I was also raised Catholic, but no longer follow that religion. That being said, I am a Christian for social justice and peace. I don't agree with the religious right in oh so many ways. Call me a liberal Christian, I guess.

As I sit here on my vacation...I've been popping in and out of the DIS. Not really hangin' around, though. I've peeked at some threads though. And I think I've figured it out.

It must be nerve-wracking and scary for the others. Can you imagine?

There was a CNN news poll the other day, and the results were pretty entertaining to me. 75% of respondents said they were glad that George Bush was leaving. Basically...a "don't let the door hit ya'" response.

Can you imagine being in that 25%? The tiny minority...still clingin' on to George Bush. Moving from incompetence to competence. Knowing that almost everyone in the entire country, not to mention the rest of the world, is turning flips for something different then what you still think is great? Knowing that what has been done may be undone...when you thought what was done was great? I'd feel bullied and ganged up on. I'd probably try to pull fireworks out of my rear as well...to lob at the other side without provocation. To make myself feel better.

That's all some on the other side are doing. They're defending themselves against what they fear. Because they know it's over. And they know they're standing out there all by themselves. It's better to lob bombs at the other side for protection, then to admit that it's finally over. And they lost.
