Coughing fit induced. Thanks Chris.

But, can you COMPARE your tattoos?

:snooty:

And I have family members who are illegal. Not illegal aliens. But, my Uncle Gabby sells wacky tobacky out of the trailer in his backyard.

I think I know your Uncle Gabby. ;)

Oh, you'd loooove Uncle Gabby.

He and his boyfriend just redid the entire inside of the house...in blood red paint and leopard prints.

I had to ask him if he was still gay, as his decorating is atrocious!!!

;)

Well, no. I don't have any. I suppose I lose points for that, right?

Uncle Gabby. I love it. That's sort of the perfect hippie name.

Mine was an Uncle Donny.

No way! That's really awful. Maybe they've been sampling their own product too much?

We don't have a Whole Foods within 40 miles. :sad1:

I buy mine at the local farmer's market.

I am elitier-than-thou. :rotfl2:
Ha! I have you beat. My arugula comes in my weekly (in season) Community Shared Agriculture box from an organic farm in northern Wisconsin. We pay for a box of veggies every week from May through Dec and we get whatever is in season. In a pinch I will shop at the local food Co-op.

They had to redo their house after a car flew through the bedroom wall while being chased by the police in a high-speed getaway chase.

I wish I were making this up.

:rotfl2:

Actually, I have a lot of issues with SP, but none of them have anything to do with jealousy. Her "values" are completely different than mine. She's tacky. I don't like some of her parenting choices. She isn't educated. She's inarticulate. She is an embarrassment to other women. And you know what? I don't think she's a very nice person, to be blunt. The way she went after Obama was just wrong. She's a liar and she hides behind her "Christianity." Yeah, buy it if you want, but it's crap.

how about the rather worrying thought that someone who has been outside the US just the once would be co-handling its international affairs :scared1: John McCain is one thing but the VP choice was terrible! She may be a very nice lady, I have no idea, and she maybe a great homeland senator, I have no idea, but she in no way could fit the bill as VP or P (should anything happen) as its a global position - you have to be educated and knowledgable in those matters.

You don't just win...you get a couple o' these...

:worship: :worship: :worship:

You win.

!

My love, everybody. These political threads depress me too much. I'm going back to discuss the validity of the Swiss Family Treehouse!

]

you should try venturing into the Conservative thread - I did and suggested maybe a halt to the pretty venemous insults ... needless to say my posts were immediately removed and labelled sarcastic by a mod ....

so now that thread is filled with images of their guns they all own and want instead - ahhhh, how sweet! sarcasm - well thats just not tolerated ..

but guns and weapons - now THATS how to post properly!

Now don't you try to play "whose relatives are more redneck" with me, young lady. I will WHOOP you!

You're not going to get an argument here honey. ;)

Maybe it helps them feel in control in a world that is otherwise not treating them kindly?

Ironic, no?

my absoloute favourite quote about gun ownership and gun rights is the constitutional element.

Of course the constitution was written in a time of civil war, with huge unrest, with virtually no law and order, and of course 200 YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When laws are wrong they are changed, when they are proven to be outdated, they are changed, when society has different needs, they are changed ..... but ALWAYS out comes the 'its the core of our constitutional rights' blah blah

theres only one way it will go if more people carry guns ..... and it aint a safer society! but heck - it sure will be constitutional and thats all that matters right ?!

Again...you're just preaching to the choir.

I walk to mine. Which wouldn't be such a big deal, but I also carry a family of illegal aliens to work while I do it. I drop them off, then I go in and buy my food. While I'm there, I tutor the young college boys who work there. Okay, I don't exactly tutor them. But sometimes, I compliment them on their tatoos.

I have to say that this election to a non-american like me was fascinating.

I live where we rely solely on US cable TV so was exposed to all the media. I also am very interested in world politics. If I were to catagorise myself if I were a US citizen I would have to say I would be an independant, pretty central, with aspects and policies of both parties I liked and my choice come election would lie with the nominees and economically how their policies would affect me.

Throughout the campaign It was highly noticeable how badly McCain's (who I actually like and admire as a person) campaign was terribly run - it was hostile and agressive. McCain looked flustered, agitated and upset throughout the campaign and especially during the debates.

Obama on the other hand looked cool as a cucumber, calm, patient, and much more the sort of person you would want taking charge - a level head.

The choice of Palin as VP was mind boggling - so inexperienced it was comical, and the gamble to bring in such a polarising figure didnt really pay off. She may have won many fans, and I'm sure she did appeal to many, but there was no middle ground - you either loved or loathed.

Obamas pick was cleverer, it was safe, because Obama himself was seen as such a change in direction the choice of a safe VP was wise. Biden people are kinda 'meh' about, which worked.

At the end of it all I am glad Obama won - he brings hope to millions of people who have never thought it possible before, and that in itself is amazing. He brought out voters and supporters who would never normally vote as nobody they felt represented THEM.

and the sad thing - the best speech McCain made, the one that REALLY actually I think showed the man he Actually is - not the politician - was his concession speech, it was a great speech. And as his crowd jeered when he tried to be concillatory it said so much more about his supporters than than the party itself.

I went on the Conservative thread actually to ask a poster to ammend their signature which was wholly innacurate - and they did so without any hoopla - but the ensuing pack that followed was downright blinkered and tunnel visioned .... there is only their way, even if it is contradictory to the truth and facts as it blatantly was. Liberals as a group embrace other facets and factors - are open to other theories, theres the difference.

Maybe it helps them feel in control in a world that is otherwise not treating them kindly?

During the campaign, the notion that some people were "clinging to their guns" was considered an insult. Is it now a badge of honor?:confused3
