So here's a cute story you all may like.

Yesterday at Thanksgiving - the kids were all huddled in one of the bedrooms. Then one of them comes out and says they are going to put on a show. So we all went in to see......

There are 8 kids at the house - the older ones in the 10 - 12 year old range - the younger ones from 3 - 8. Two are my nephews - the rest are my cousins' kids.

Well the show was this:

Elizabeth (12) - played Katie Couric
Andrew (11) - played Barack Obama
Timmy (10) - was Joe Biden
Stephen (11) - was John McCain
Johnny (7) - was Sarah Palin (he loves the "I can see Russia from my house" line and the "for all you Joe Six Packs out there playing along Maverick" - both are lines from SNL)

The other kids were the audience.....

Well - let me tell you - this "show" was laugh out loud funny. Its amazing to see the news and politics through the eyes of kids...

My nephew Andrew, did a cute impersonation of Barack - the cadence was down pat. And he was so cute - every time Elizabeth called him Senator Obama, he'd say - "that's President-Elect Obama" lol

And one time Elizabeth asked the question - "Senator Obama, sadly, you were elected to be President of the United States (can you tell who she was supporting? ;) ) - and one of the kids in the audience said - "Hey, how come you asked the question that way - you're not supposed to ask it like that!" She got a reminder of objective journalism! ;)

The adults were in hysterics over the responses the kids gave as the characters they were playing and some of the audience questions. Anthony - age 8 - asked John McCain, "How does it feel to be a loser?" That's the terms he saw it in - one was the winner - one was the loser.......

Any way - thought you all might find this amusing....... I thought it was great that these kids were taught the importance of voting - hopefully, they will be all future voters when they reach 18.

Oh and the adults were split 50/50 on the election - and we all got along. Every one on "the other side" wished Obama well, for the success of our country.

I told those that didn't vote for him, they will end up being pleasantly surprised.......

:rotfl:

That's so funny Jarn!

Love them giving a lesson on objective journalism! :teeth:

Here is a piece from the Onion that is very very funny about Scooter Libby dressing up in a turkey disguise to get a full pardon from bush. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Nj-tRDt5ww&eurl=http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x244769&feature=player_embedded
BTW, remember that the Onion is a satirical new source and this story is not real. Please remember not to cite the Onion as a source in any threads.

I've seen this one already.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Who would EVER cite the Onion as a source??? :scared: :rolleyes1

Good evening libs.

I just finished up dinner. An organic chicken breast served on a bed of arugula (also organic). Yummmm! Served on recycled paper plates (JUST SAY NO TO STYROFOAM!) with linen napkins, which I will wash in my biodegradable laundry detergent (it's also hypoallergenic).

I adopted a star today...and I named it after the person to which I most aspire...Barack Obama.

Earlier, I crocheted myself a sweater made from naturally-dyed wool fibers while meditating with my patchouli incense burning in the background.

Now it's time to kick off my birks and watch MSNBC. (the only true news network)

Peace and Love my friends. :hippie: and :lovestruc

I, for one, am offended by everything you say.

(stomps off in rightious indignation)

Well see, this offended me as well. Hmmrpf!

(no no, I really thought it was funny, but the mood tonight is being offended so I'm . . . being offended).

Did you say you're stomping off to the RIGHT???

Don't do that honey. There's no reason to go the the right when you have the left.

Hugs and Kisses.

Oh...and have a flower. :flower3:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

A flower? Well, okay. I don't really have time for a lobotomy before I get there so I'm probably not much use to the right anyway.

A Chinese newspaper picked up and ran with an Onion story about North Carolina or South Carolina trying to lure Congress into moving the capitol to their state by offering to build a new capitol building with a retractable dome. The Chinese newspaper did not understand the concept of satire and had a difficult time in retracting their story about Congress may be moving in order to have a capitol building with a retractable dome.

Well, you're a jolly crowd. I go away for a couple of days and come back to all sorts of fun and silliness. Hello, my fellow liberals. Late Thanksgiving greetings to you all.

We have a house full and I mean full for this long holiday weekend. We have nine extras housed in various spots in our home. My sister and her husband and three sons. My son, his wife and two adorable tiny girls. Proud liberals all.

We celebrated together by raising our glasses to our new President-elect during dinner yesterday. It was great. Then my nephew, Peter - age 8, gave us a rousing rendition of Donuts and Bacon song. He and his dad proudly wear their t-shirts. It took quite a bacon lover to notice that the Obama logo looked like donuts and bacon but listening to the song a few weeks ago had me in stitches. Here's a link to the song, the t-shirt and the lyrics if you missed it. http://bacontoday.com/greatest-bacon-song-ever/

I hope you've all had your fill of free-range turkey, organic veggies and pie from locally raised pumpkins. We drank a lot of organic wine too. Woohoo!

Here is a great Top Ten List from David Letterman on the top ten excuses for Palin not noticing the killing of turkeys behind her press conference http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94L8jOOtWBs Letterman was in great form on this list. Letterman gutted and played with McCain when he last appeared on the Letterman show and I doub that Palin will ever appear on that show. I would love to see this but I doubt that it will happen. If Palin can not handle Couric, then she will be destroyed by Letterman or Jon Stewart.

"You betcha". (wink, wink)

I plan to contribute to Caribou Barbie's campaign for whatever office she runs for. That moron is too good to let slip into obscurity. She needs to be front and center for the GOP. :lmao:

Well, as long as the wine was chardonnay, you can keep your liberal points. And I do hope your coffee was from a trade- and eco-friendly source .;)

We had some toasting at our table as well!!! Our organic turkey took about an hour longer than expected to cook so we were well into a couple bottles of organic wine before we even sat down, lol! The vegetarians among us provided many wonderful organic choices and we had a new sweet potato casserole with real sugar(we hang our heads in shame!) The toast was simple, "Barack Obama!" and the prayer was delightfully socialistic in it's thanks for sharing earths riches and good wishes for everyone on earth!
