She denounced the statement. Immediately.

Geraldine is old & dumb & is a figurehead on the campaign. & she's also an historic figure (& she's no longer an elected official). BO should let it go. Even wvreavy (above) saw the comment as dumb but the situation as amusing.

Guys, you need to pick your battles..... & calling GF a racist won't help BO in the short term or in the long term.....& is inaccurate. Don't any of you have parents or grandparents who say dumb things??

She who? Senator Clinton? Here's what I know she said.

Clinton said, "I do not agree with that," and later added, "It's regrettable that any of our supporters _ on both sides, because we both have this experience _ say things that kind of veer off into the personal."

You call that 'denounced'? :confused3

If she actually denounced what Ferraro said then I've missed it. It appears to me you're both excusing and disrespecting Geraldina Ferraro by intimating she's old and senile - oh and on chemotherapy. She's in good enough shape to be raising money for the Clinton campaign.

And I believe this is most definitely playing the fear card amongst those who are anti-affirmative action. The hypocrisy and hubris are unbelievable.

And sorry I'm not buying the sympathy card being trotted out because Ferrarro is on chemo.

I didn't "trot" anything out. I was stating a fact that the lady has cancer.

Why do you think she should be disgraced and fired??? Because she's a racist?

Will it make you feel better?

Do you think it will help your candidate?

& don't you think that BECAUSE Geraldine feels that she was a recipient of affirmative action (being named as VP candidate when there were more qualified men at the time that could have been chosen)......gives her some insight (whether it is accurate or not) that when BO was chosen to speak at the Democratic Convention 3 years & 9 months ago (as a state senator) that perhaps HE was chosen over more qualified & deserving men & woman.... & that the decision to give him the Keynote address was not only because he's a great speaker, but also because it was a smart political move (by the dem decision makers)??

You can argue that she is right, or that she is wrong, but "I'm not buying the (race) card being trotted out". (to quote someone above).

But keep argueing the case......it's an argument that will go over boffo in Penn, NC FL & MI.

Now, Hound, this is the DIS, where no one ever says anything dumb, has bad debt, belongs in $150K to $250K club and never whines about stimulous rebates, and, lastly, our parents and grandparents were in the G&T programs back in the day and could never have said anything dumb.:rotfl2:

Bless you Reflection. :lmao:

Edit....amazing how i interpreted this as amusing. When if i read it along with the post just above it, it must be sarcastic.

& fwiw, i never called GF senile.....I called her dumb. & she's more of a figurehead than a fund raiser. & if you think HC is a racist for not firing GF, then you might as well call me one too.....because i wouldn't fire her. Not given the context that I've outlined in my cracker mind above.

.

Ferraro is a racist and she is a racist who continues working for Hillary Clinton with Clinton's blessing. End of story.

The situation isn't amusing. It's disgusting.

We disagree. & name 2 other examples of Ferraro's racism.

If this woman has cancer and is senile she should not be working or giving press interviews, period. My sorrow goes out to her during this difficult time.

I do not believe Obama was chosen to give the keynote address 4 years ago because of the color of his skin, but for the message he spoke. It was moving, it was outstanding, he was a two term senator in Illinois, he had gravitas to be giving such a speech. It was appreciated by many.

The fact is this campaign between the two of them is supposed to be based on principal's and respect. Samantha Powers was fired at the insistence of the Clinton campaign if you recall for calling Clinton a Monster who would do anything to win, many of us think that's true, she will do anything to win, but meanwhile Wolfson is referring to Obama as Ken Starr-like? Are you kidding me? Do I need to bring out for all those new to the process who Ken Starr was and what he did?? Wolfson still has his job, Ferraro still has her job. It seems only ONE candidate is really running the clean campaign, and for some of us, that is all that matters, the running of the campaign.

Planning only until Super Tuesday is not a way to influence those of us looking at Managerial styles by the way.

I don't have to name anymore. This is what's going on right now. Hillary Clinton wants my vote. She has to deal with it or she doesn't get that vote. I"m a voter, not a groupie. If Clinton wants my vote, she has to earn it.

I'm sick and tired of making excuses for my political leaders and doubly sick and tired of making excuses for the Clintons.

We've already named two, that is enough. When her womanhood and what she is deserved is questioned, this is what she comes out with.. it's wrong... it does nothing to bring the party together and simply wrong.

Commenting (I think) in order:

- She's not senile (at least as far as i know). She's dumb. Which doesn't disqualify her from working on a campaign (or apparently being president ;)).

- He was a two term STATE SENATOR. FWIW, my two term STATE senator is Kirk "deer in the headlights" Watson. BTW, I loved BO's speech....but gravitas isn't a word i would use to describe a State Senator at the "Show".

- Wolfson is an idiot. Bringing up Ken Star was idiotic. (& i'd fire Wolfson for being an idiot).

- Hillary was dumb to denounce the Monster comment. But Obama was even more dumb to fire Powers. (She sounds like she might have been an asset now & later).

- This race is about who can be the best President, not who runs the cleanest campaign. (& clean btw depends on who's defining it). & If BO & his supporters are going to scream foul every time they perceive a rule violation or an HC supporter says something snarky, it will start to annoy those who aren't BO supporters....independents too.

.

If she apologizes (which i hope she does) for both comments & shows contrition, will she be forgiven? Or will she be an apologetic racist & her grandchildren will have to change schools in shame. ;)

I don't think Ferarro is dumb for one moment, not one, she means what she says, I'd like to give her the benefit of the doubt and say she's senile, regardless she should NOT be on the campaign. Whether she is dumb or senile it is the same.

As a two term State senator, a one term Senator in Washington DC, President of Law review at Harvard, a professor of Constitutional law, certainly gives him the gravitas for the speech he gave and the position for which he seeks, he has far more experience than many Presidents that we have had in the past, and I do not include George Bush in that assessment (he's nothing but an embarrassment).

Obama lost an important adviser, but he went by his principal's. The principal's he lives by and speaks by are what is important, it's important to him, it's important to many of his supporters.... so although you think it was stupid for her to resign, or for her to leave, it is consistent with the message....

As SHE requested Obama do in regards to Powers, I would like to see her follow the same path. Clinton demanded the resignation of Powers, yet her talking points can say what they want. Well, honestly, they CANNOT. As voters we shouldn't let it happen to us again. Hold politician's accountable. If Ferraro leaves the position as Clinton requested of Powers, all will be forgiven...

OK I just recieved this..Where else to post it but on the Disboards?

It's a joke, no offense to Hillary supports, if she is nominated I am one...

The seven dwarfs always left to go work in the mines early each morning. As always, Snow White stayed home doing her domestic chores. As lunch time approached, she would prepare their lunch and carry it to the mine. One day as she arrived at the mine with the lunch she saw that there had been a terrible cave-in. Tearfully, and fearing the worst, Snow White began calling out, hoping against hope that the dwarfs had somehow survived. 'Hello, hello!' she shouted.'Can anyone hear me? Hello!' For a long while, there was no answer. Losing hope, Snow White again shouted, 'Hello! Is anyone down there?'Just as she was about to give up all hope, there came a faint voice from deep within the mine. 'Vote for Hillary, Vote for Hillary.' Snow White fell to her knees, crossed herself and prayed, 'Oh, thank you, God! At least Dopey is still alive.'

You can't make this stuff up:

http://video.knbc.com/player/?id=228100

What parallel universe does this woman live in? More importantly, how stupid does she think we are? Does she actually think no one has been watching her and her campaign in the last few weeks?

I'm starting to believe she's either too cynical or too delusional to be anywhere near the Oval Office. Hillary Clinton is starting to look like Bush and Cheney all tied up in one neat little package.

It almost makes this Democrat cry when I think what this campaign could've been between Obama and Edwards or Obama and Dodd or Obama and anyone except Hillary Clinton. What a crying shame it has come to this.

"She has no position in the campaign"

Uh, yes she does... she on your fundraising committee!!

She must think we're all stupid...

My thinking is, if he wants to win, Barack should keep up the righteous indignation with the Clinton campaign's behavior. When you're running against a candidate who's begins with a net negative rating that hovers around 51% right out of the gate, the more complaining about Clinton's "underhanded tactics" that Obama's staff does, the more he reminds the voting public of how much, fair or unfair, they simply do not like Hillary Clinton. There's more to "playing politics" than knee capping your opponent. Sometimes, the stealth approach works equally as well, and unlike with dirty politics, you still come out smelling like a rose...

In other words, he should give her just enough rope to hang herself with.
