Quote: " Obama's campaign plans a 1 p.m. conference call Wednesday to announce the endorsement by David Wilhelm (he led Clinton's '92 bid for the presidency), who later became chairman of the Democratic National Committee. The aide spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement would be made public later in the day.

Wilhelm plans to tell reporters that Obama can build a coalition of Democrats, independents and Republicans needed to win the general election. He also says Obama can bring the change he promises—improving the economy and ending the war in Iraq.

Wilhelm is a superdelegate from Illinois who was previously uncommitted in the race."

Amazing! It's certainly getting interesting.

That is exactly why those suspects/terrorists/masterminds will now go to trial..six years later. What better excuse then that to remind everyone daily how terrified they should be? Especially if a Dem gets in..:headache:

Their trials may have had some impact if the Bush admnistration would've trusted the Justice Department instead of setting up a gulag in Guantanamo along with kangeroo courts and torture. As it stands now, the trials will be a few lines in a news story. The Bush administration managed to screw up their greatest PR move because of their own arrogance and stupidity.

Personally, I would've liked to have seen American justice front and center and would've been very proud to have the rest of the world see how we deal fanatical mass murderers.

But the fact is, the Bush administration is more paranoid than Nixon's and that's saying something. They don't trust the American people and they don't trust American institutions. The Bush administration sees both as a bump in the road to "what they have to do". Those sacks of **** can't leave the stage fast enough for me.

I was a vocal advocate of not having impeachment hearings, but I've really changed my mind. I'm starting to get nervous that these guys are going to use their last months in office to invade Iran or do something else equally stupid.

Ok, so I'm slightly paranoid. I wonder if they'll really leave. :confused3

Holy Crow! You have come over to the darkside. :scared:

These guys are starting to seriously scare me. There was a poster on another thread this week that said something like "Iran's next" and it just made my heart stop. Then there's the idea that they could set up a permanent presence in Iraq through treaties or just put Blackwater in charge of the national guard!! I thought the new Congress was going to be a check on these guys, but they've seriously dropped the ball.

I admit that I have been a very bad girl lately. I've been so wrapped up in my state officials trashing the Constitution and local economy, that I've not been paying much attention to the administration's hijinks, but if Fits is second guessing the need for impeachment hearings, I think I need to get myself back into it!

Wow. We're a talkative bunch lately. I think we may have reached the level of interaction we had during the general election in 2004! This thread now has at least 100 more posts than the conservative thread opened ages before this one.

We are indeed 'Fired up and ready to go!'

Oops, unintentional miscount. Not a hundred more but certainly more.

I'll confess, I actually signed a petition at Wexlerwantshearings.com. He's going after Cheney, and since he's probably the "man behind the curtain" I'm ok with that.

Sadly, Congress has ignored the wishes of the people all along so I'm not expecting much of them.

My new hope is that whoever wins the WH brings John Edwards on as Attny General and he goes after them.

The enthusiasm is wonderful! Yes, the between Obama's speech and McCain's was quite noticeable. Gotta love the diverse group that Obama's vision has brought together.

Just a question-is it time for a :) Respectful Obama thread? I have just about had it with the tone of the "cult" thread. What do you think? Anyone interested in starting it? (I would, but I'd probably get shouted down for my strong views on the really nasty A.C. cult speculators/followers.....)

That's what I did so we Hillary supporters could go show our love :lmao: without hurting anyone's feelings...as it gets closer it will get more competitive even in here..

Two things I thought of while watching the returns last night:

1) The super-delegates will jump on the Obama bandwagon if it comes to that.

2) Obama has ceased to be a candidate and has become a movement. Thank God, he's not Hitler. ;)

:rotfl: no but many think he is the Antichrist or our savior...I say he's still just a politician:thumbsup2

You and I are "of a certain age". No, young people do not watch the nightly news. Hell, neither do I since they've become "segment" shows for entertainment. I used to watch Lou Dobbs. In the interest of my tv's health, I stopped watching him for fear I'll fling something at the tv. But, I digress.

People are getting their information from other sources that we did not have growing up. We watched the nightly news because, other than newspapers, it was the only game in town. THe internet is a huge source of information and many people get their information there. The word is getting out. Just not from the traditional sources.

sometimes the internet can be scarry with the wrong info...like about his Church and him beind a Musslim and so on....

:scared1: :lmao: :scared1: :lmao:

Bad example.:scared1: :scared1:

Hitler wasnt "Hilter" until he got the power!:scared1:

I AM NOT SAYING OBAMA IS HILTLER BY ANYYYYYYYYYYYY MEANS!:sad2: :sad2:

I am a history freak here talking.....and dont even really want to post this, but....What the heck..knowledge is good!:goodvibes

there are some some freaky similarities between the two.
Hilter came into power after the German financial sytem started collapsing , he got the youth of the country all excited. The Germans had it "up to here" with there government & Hitler really wowed them.

Hitler ran on a platform of hope & change!:scared1:

Funny when I read that I started to compare notes and the first thing that came to mind is that he was a young man who was a great orator! And pulled all the young collage students to his side....and so on:eek:

I thought I could do that, but the temptation to try and "enlighten" is just too strong. If I don't see it, I can't get points for commenting about it.

You cant enlighten a Rep just as they can not come here and enlighten us....to things hard to argue are religion and politics...

The speech was good, but not one of his best. I thought his speech in October (at the Convention Center) was better, but that may have been just a proximity thing. I was 3/4 of a hockey arena away from him and all the way up last night. I was 50 feet away from him in October.

These were my favorite quotes:

"At this moment, the cynics can no longer say our hope is false. We have won east and west and north and south and across the heartland of this country."

"This is the new American majority," Obama went on. "This is what change looks like when it comes from the bottom up."

:rolleyes1

they were saying last night that he has been repeating his speeches over and over...I have noticed that also. the other night I said to DH ..hmmmm I heard this same speech before and thought it was a repeat from the night before but it was not it was just the same speech in a different State.

:lmao: Its these little things that make you go..UMMMMM!

Try this

BTW, i think sometimes these rallies are put together last minute. I too amy not crazy about eithers website. At one point you couldnt get into Obama without giving him your email address!:headache:

However both have their CONTRIBUTE buttons front & center!:lmao:

Really how do these candidates keep up???????? When does Hillary have time to do :laundy:

You can also e-mail her campaign here I have don't that 2 times and got a response right away......http://www.hillaryclinton.com/help/contact/

Also here is a phone number for wisconsin.....Wisconsin Office
Phone:608-824-3125

I called the number and they said that they are finishing squaring up a place and will know later today or tomorrow.....Bill will be there Hillary is in Texas.

:rolleyes1

I think there are more than 5. I remember seeing a map at the Atomic Bomb museum in Hiroshima (a VERY moving experience) in August which showed graphically the countries with atomic bombs and how many each one had. I could swear there were far more than 5.

I stood at ground zero which is now a park and cried my eyes out at the Children's Memorial. It's just amazing what we did to those people.

I researched it before posting and all sites said 5 for sure and showed a number of unconfirmed. Also showed who is working on wanting to get them.

Well, of course I tried that! It shows the election as the only upcoming event within 50 miles of Madison.

Look above left info up there for you

and we just started this new thread what like 1 or so weeks ago...soon we will be on our 3rd....

I started a positive Obama thread. The assassination thread was the last straw.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1720498

Please feel free to post relevant Barack Obama info/discussion there. There are lots of other places to post rumors and bizarre speculation.

You really don't think that the rumors and bizarre speculation won't show up there??

Let me live in my denial...for a little while. :goodvibes I just wanted Obama to have ONE positive thread. Please help out if you'd like, ok?

Wow did not see that one yet......although can say that there are some people that are afraid of that. There are a lot of crazies out there that are racist and also that would love nothing more than to be the ONE that assassinated the first black or woman President.....

BTW, here is a slide show with segments of the speech: http://tctvideo.nfshost.com/obama/

It did sound a lot like some of his recent addresses. How in the world can we expect any of the candidates to have a completely new speech every day? Its just not possible. I can't imagine how they hold themselves together traveling to 3-4 states a day some days and speaking at rallies several times a day many days. I'd fall over with exhaustion.

True, but any President has to deal with that. I'm sure with the level of animosity against GW the Secret Service has been on high alert for 7 years.

Absolutely. I hope I don't sound trite, but I seem to remember John Edwards giving that "Somewhere in America, a veteran who proudly served our country is sleeping under a bridge or on a grate" speech more than a couple times. It's hard not to be touched by it, but he did repeat it in just about every debate and speech that I heard him give.

That reminds me, Edwards met with Hillary last Thursday and was supposed to meet with Obama day before yesterday about a potential endorsement for one or the other. Anybody hear any news on that front?
