You have to maybe also hear how he said it. He was more suprised that a "hayseed" hat wearing Farmer new about Burma!!!!:sad2:
BTW Farmers dont wear Hayseed hats....That is a derogatory term!

See, but there's a problem when "seed hat" turns into "hayseed" or "hay hats"? Obama didn't call anone a hayseed and I see people wearing seed hats everywhere. They're those little knit caps that are so popular with balding rockers these days. I don't see what's the big deal?

ETA: I'm sure when they heard the phase, reporters all googled the term, found nothing offensive, and moved on...

YUP! I did do that. Sorry. But it was a  moment.

I dont think this is a perception issue. Farmers DONT wear hay hats, that is stereotyping farmers. And farmers do read newspapers and such. Its phrases like this that make me go "hmmmmmmmmmmmm"! Thats all.:confused3

That would be *straw* hats. Hay is for feeding livestock. Straw is for bedding. So when you go on a "hay" ride, it's actually straw.

But I can't remember the last time I saw a farmer wearing a straw hat. They usually wear baseball caps (with John Deere on it...).

Not all of them....

Texas should be interesting. I really don't have a feeling one way or the other how this state is leaning. :confused3
Texas has a huge latino population, so I'd be stunned if Barack could pull out a win there.
I cant say that...they have even showed that both Hillary and Obama would win against McCain...but Obama had a slight higher edge.
I haven't seen many polls saying that Hillary would beat McCain at all.
First time I have heard that...and what about the stuff that Obama has said about her...I like Obama but he is getting a little cocky
:confused3 What has he said about Hillary that she hasn't returned tenfold?
But my problem with Obama and if we need and I mean need to go to war ....will he or will he Say no. Also turn the tables for a minute here. What if it turned out that the war was the RIGHT thing to do and it saved us....and that if we did not go and something else happened because of it....that his voting NO could have caused more terrorism...
Did I miss an announcement that Obama was a pacifist? Why does being against the Iraq war from the beginning mean that he would never authorize war under any circumstances?
My problem with him saying I SAID NO is that no one really new what would happen for sure. And there was no way to tell. More voted to go so does that make them all wrong...Senators are only human
Actually, anybody with any real knowledge of the region - even cursory knowledge, as it hardly took an expert - could see what would happen as soon as Saddam was removed. A lot of us - and I don't mean to brag, but I include myself in this group - spelled out almost exactly what has taken place, and did so before we ever put boots on the ground in Iraq. It was obvious, and the reason for not voting against it was completely political. As a guest on Bill Maher's show last week so succinctly put it, Democrats were scared to death that the war would be won and we'd be out of there in three months and Bush was going to spend the summer holding victory parades coast-to-coast, and they didn't want to be left out. They caved to political pressure - Hillary Clinton included.

There is no justifying that vote. Plain and simple, they were either duped or they were political cowards. There's no middle ground.

Thank you! :lmao: As a Brooklyn boy I know very little about the Farmer world. BUT I DO know they read & watch TV!:lmao:

I take it you don't make it to Lancaster County too often. ;)

LA Times - Clinton replaces campaign manager

Does anyone think it curious that Hillary would chose not one, but two campaign managers that don't appear to have experience running a campaign? Is it because she wants more control over it? With the stakes so high, I just don't get it.

I believe Senator Obama meant 'seed cap' as in baseball cap with a seed company logo, hence the name. They're everywhere in corn, wheat and soybean country. I felt he was paying a compliment to the farmers he meets. Many know a lot more about the world than they are generally given credit for.

I really don't know--it's not the way I would go, were I a candidate for POTUS. The whole thing doesn't sound very good for Clinton's side. :confused3

I think I just had a "Karl Rove" moment. :teeth:

What would happen if, say three days before the March "Super Tuesday" primaries - the Obama campaign were to "leak" a "short list" of potential vice presidential candidates.........and the name at the top of the list was one Bill Richardson? Would that not be the very end of Hillary's dominance of the Latino vote, and - if so, would it not put Texas very much in play for Obama with it's huge Latino voting population? The reason I called it a Karl Rove moment is that leaking the list wouldn't actually commit the campaign to anything, and wouldn't even require them to seriously consider the names on the list, much less ask them before hand about their interest in the position. :teeth:

But seriously...would the potential of a Latino running mate negate much of Hillary's advantage?

Bwahahaha! Yep. That would pretty much clinch it.

I'm thinking Bubba would be on the phone to Richardson asking him to denounce it quicker that he could say "Big Mac Value Meal"!!

That's where the timing would come in. If it was "leaked" at just the right time, it would spread and become a fairly big story by the time Tuesday rolled around, and any denial from Richardson wouldn't have time to get the same airplay before people headed to the polls.

Besides...as of right now, Bill hasn't endorsed either candidate, to my knowledge, regardless of who he watched the Super Bowl with. ;) I don't think he'd be too awful quick about jumping in and saying he wasn't interested until he could at least gauge the truth of the "short list".

Programming note. :goodvibes

Michelle Obama will be on Larry King tonight. No matter who you are for, Michelle is an awesome person!
