The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

Like I said earlier, I'm not going to get into specifics. Been there, done that. Besides to quote a good Liberal, all of the information is out there.

The main point to me is that the Democratic Party could literally end up imploding and driving the all important Independent vote (and maybe even some of the Democrats) to vote for McCain. I see little productive going on here - just squabbling and name-calling. Fine if that's what works for you but it worries me.

Is this a microcosm of discussion elsewhere? How does the more casual voter feel about all of this? That's what really worries me.

I honestly have yet to see a single substantive complaint about Obama "going negative." I heard a lot of complaining about the flyer he sent out in Ohio, but all he was doing was quoting a news article about her. The facts of that flyer are indisputable: Hillary did support NAFTA and has touted it for years...until it became politically damaging to do so.

As for the last question you asked...no, it's not like this elsewhere...it's worse. Here, we're restricted by the language filters and by the rules concerning personal attacks. Trust me, if you think this is bad, stay away from sites like Democratic Underground and DailyKos. (But if you've got thick skin and don't mind blowing off - or up - the flamers that seem to hang around such places, come over and heck them out.)

For those who asked, I saw new Newsweek Poll numbers as of last night. After the last week of negative crap, Obama came down five points to 47% where he had been at 52% & McCain came up 5% to 45% & Hillary stayed the same at 46%

I think the negative effect is evident.... Hillary's negatives are already at 49%, so she can't get much worse even with going negative. If this keeps up, we might as well kiss November good bye... or maybe Obama should just step down just because he's ahead in delegate count, state and popular vote won...

Oh yeah? Well this is how I roll!

I don't even know what I mean by that. Just sounds tough ;) :rotfl:

The person that created that picture's caption don't know darts. :teeth: Honestly, I've done that at least 50 times, and I know at least 10 or 20 others that have as well (I used to play in a dart league back in college, believe it or not. Basically just an excuse to go out and drink beer at a different bar every Monday night ;) )

Yanno, a funny thing is happening while Hillary Clinton has gone negative. It seems the Clinton campaign is depending on "one issue" voting the same way the Republican right depends on that same "one issue". That issue is the SC and Roe v Wade. That's what she's depending on. A Democrat is using Roe v Wade as a wedge issue. She's hoping Democrats will support her, no matter what, if a SC nomination is held over Democratic heads.

No one is entitled to anyone's vote and this country will survive overturning Roe v Wade. It'll put the issue front and center where it belongs.

Hillary Clinton is not entitled to anyone's vote because some hope she'll do the right thing when it comes to nominating a SC justice. Remember her heroic stand against Roberts and "Strip Search Sammie" Alito. Remember her thrilling filibuster. Yeah, me neither.

I'm guessin' that Hillary is not your gal? :lmao:

There's no debate. You belong on your site. That's it. Can't take a hint?

Oh sweetheart, there is no "your" site. LOL, we can all post wherever we feel like. Best not to "tweek" anybody's nose, b/c you wouldn't want a deluge of conservatives over here....;)

Ahhhh, no. However, I think she'd make a fine president, but at this point, I'd have to sew my nostrils shut to vote for her.

How right you are .............. no pun intended. :lmao:

Tiggers,

Because we can doesn't mean we should.

Many here don't want us here, just like many on the conservative thread don't want the libs coming there for debate. It's not too much to respect them, nor for them to respect us, and stay off this thread, or at least stay out of debate on it (including slamming their candidates).

After all, there are plenty of threads for us to meet in the middle for the debates/candidate bashing to fly.

Few are more against the liberal agenda than I am, but this thread isn't the place to bring it up. And we can't very well ask them to stay out of our thread if you, John, and others come over here to purposely stir things up.

So Karl Rove, who now works for John Dubya McCain, is speaking highly of McCain's daughter. You know the one he threw darts at in 2000. To quote a friend - You can't make this stuff up.

I don't care if they DO come to the conservative thread. I'm a child of the "debate board" ....and I miss these guys. Don't think to chastise me, half these guys are my FRIENDS (hey Amanda! LYMI!:woohoo: )

You're right, it's all about you. Never mind all of those on each thread who continuously ask the other to stay off their respective threads.

Or, come over here, chat to your hearts content, but don't slam their candidates, start debate, and poke your finger in their eye. Save it for one of the many debate threads.

Carry on.

Whatever, I don't dislike liberals, sorry.:confused3 Last time I checked you were not a "mod".:confused3 I do find this is sad, b/c we have never had a problem before.:confused3 Sometimes, I do think I should be a liberal. I think I become more and more liberal as I get older. The only thing I do agree with conservatives is...... my MONEY. Money is a strong influence.

I have had too many "friends" be freaking *******s, in the name of conservatism.

I really don't mind Hillary. I really don't. I'm thinking of voting for her in November.....

I am so on the precipe of con/lib. I don't even know who I am anymore. My husband is a staunch union man, and I guess you know what HE is. I don't think I should post on ANY thread anymore b/c.....well...

And you get to make the rules here - WHY? :rolleyes1

Seriously, you guys can watch, smirk, dance, run nekkid for all I care.

Your candidate for President who will be 72 years old on Inauguration Day in 2009 won't release his medical records. Melanoma killed my brother, I worry about John McCain (and no I'm not kidding).

To quote a friend of mine, "you can make this stuff up", conservatives "debating" each other on the liberal thread. :lmao:

Eh, it doesn't really surprise me all that much. After all we have libs debating conservatives and libs debating each other so why not the conservatives too. ;)

Not a mod and not making rules, just trying to be respectful.

Many here, including the person who put "no debate" in the thread title, wish to have a discussion unfettered by the other sides opinion. Sounds good, because the conservatives have the same request, down to the "no debate" tag in the title.

Doesn't seem like it should be too much to ask, a little respect to those who don't want the other side to deal with (and continually voice it).

I guess respect for all those other folks was a little too much to ask for after all.

Take care.
