My dad will be 71 in July. I'd trust him to run this country, in fact he'd do a much better job than all three candidates put together! And I say that even though my father is a life long Republican! He's got no love for the R party's current formation and has some great ideas that even a Dem could learn to like.

Anyway, McCain's age (as long as he is in good health, he does need to release those medical records) doesn't bug me as much as being a war hawk does. Singing "Bomb Iran" to the tune of the Beach Boys "Barbara Ann" would be funny if he didn't think we should actually DO it!

My Dad will be 80 this December and just voted for Hillary in the Primary-of course, since he's in Florida he may have to do it twice, but whatever. I'd trust him more than McCain too. He's not a warmonger.

It really doesn't bother me either - but if one is going to be all righteous on who and where people post - perhaps it would be best if they follow their own advice.

My parents are McCain's age and not only do they have plenty of health problems, they are also incredibly moody, cranky and often irrational. And all of these behaviors started in their late sixties.

McCain has had a reputation for being a cranky jerk for years, so I don't think it's just an age thing with him.

Agree completely with the above. His age isn't really an issue, but it WILL place added importance on his VP choice.

Did anybody catch 60 minutes last night? It's my understanding that McCain had a new attack line that he used against Obama. Something along the lines of, "Because of my experience, I feel it's me the American people will want answering that phone at 3:00AM."

Which reminds me of comments on this topic that i observed on the BO thread. Regarding the little girl in "sleeping" in Clinton's 3am ad.....who is now 17 & an Obama supporter. Alot of discussion on when they'll do a NEW ad.

Are you guys nuts? It would be similar to Wolfson's bonehead Ken Starr comment. Don't bring perceived negatives (or weaknesses) to the attention of the mildly interested public a second time. Granted it would be a funny inside joke, but THIS is the kind of strategery that concerns me about BO's brain trust.

Off the top of my head:

- the above discussion.
- accepting the monster ladies resignation (why didn't he keep her on?).
- acting mad (on the THIRD DAY) at HC for offering up the VP slot. (why didn't he just laugh it off the first day like he did HC's pissy semantic cr*p during the debate. BO's instinctive "OK, I denounce & reject" (Farakahn) with a great smile was WAY more effective)...he should have laughed it off two days ago instead of acting angry or hurt today.

Waiting 3 news cycles to pass before responding to the (hillarious & brilliant) HC offering of the VP to BO, was dumb. & who ever the nominee is.... he/she better have a staff that have their act together against the "machine".

BO better hire some pros....... being nice & inspirational & ineffective doesn't translate well to the mildly interested middle of the roader. Ask Carter & McGovern.

Case in point: recent story here in Texas about a 74 year old man who shot his 15 year old neighbor because the kid cut across the old man's yard at 10:30 at night.

The difference here is that when it comes to breaking the law, we don't use party affilation to determine guilty or not guilty.
