The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

- Didn't mean to imply his opinion was more important than ours, just that it carries more weight around the party. :teeth:

- Yes...but they had all four of those in great measure along with the toughness and intelligence. :thumbsup2

Would you kindly leggo of the red herring? No, he can't reach the "magic voodoo number" of delegates. What he will do is end the election process with more delegates than Hillary. The supers at that point would just be confirming the voters choice, not overturning it.

I know that if you don't like the facts, then it's a red herring.

Here's a list of qualities / traits I want my president to have:

Intelligence
Common sense
A global perspective
Willingness to be open-minded and change direction when warrented
Drive to succeed
Loyalty to the American people
Ability to build networks and cross party bridges
Transparency (as long as it doesn't compromise national security)

I would like to convey my compliments on your list. However, this may not be realistic given the nature of the beast, eh? On a global scale... being willing to change a course might be a terrible sign of weakness if ya ask me. Sometimes you have to make a decision and stick with it no mater how turbulent it may seem at times.

Better to say... I simply hope the next President does a good job on the big decisions. Of which there are MANY in a typical 4 year term. As for which candidate I prefer ... I'll not stir the hornets nest - except to say thereis no party or candidate for which I am enamored. All I can really say is those who have some kind of extreme afinity must be endowed with blind hope in light of what I consider reality. EG, those who had extreme faith in Bush or Clinton were eventually trumped by public opinion on issues which are likely to be remembered. As in Bushs' so far questionable War and Clintons' humiliating dishonesty and extramarital excesses. In the end... I would rather prefer to say either Presidents should be applauded for NOT making anything WORSE then it was. Bush could have brought about another world war involving tens or hundreds of millions of people ... or Clinton could have been CONVICTED and been caught at far worse. I tend to suspect if one is caught once ... then one must wonder how many times and at what things one has NOT been caught. Clinton was a real humiliation and has no claim on high ground. Thank goodness it was NOT worse, eh?

*sigh*

The FACTS are that 1) He'll win more states than her. 2) He'll win more delegates than her. 3) Nobody said that he'll reach the "magic number" without the supes.

Be honest...if they head into the convention and he has more delegates than her - which will be the case and will be reported on every media outlet - and then we leave the convention with her as the candidate...how do you think that will be presented in the media? My assertion is that it will be spun that the Democratic Party doesn't care about the people's vote, that only the "old men in the smoke filled room" really count. I guarantee that's the way all of the young supporters of Obama that are having their first experience in politics will see it, and I also guarantee that is the way it will be presented by the Republicans.

So...if you can explain how Hillary can get the nomination without the super delegates bringing her back from behind, I'm more than willing to listen.

Thought this was funny, in light of my earlier comments:

You know guys, I count my lucky stars I live in such a liberal country. Even the Conservative Party is relatively liberal. It's kind of a win-win situation for me in the upcoming general election.

Maybe Clinton could have been, or perhaps he keeps his secrets to himself and thus the reluctancy to submit papers such as he, I mean she has been asked...

Interesting read about the Clinton post white house years there.

Chloe's gone, but I thought it amusing when BEFORE the Ohio & Texas primaries ALL of BO's supporters, Air America, most of MSNBC was suggesting (& some demanding) that she concede for the good of the party.

I don't blame them for asking.....but when you ASK someone to leave the dance, don't get mad when they say they paid their entry fee & prefer to stay. That's the thing that still gets me. People are MAD at her for wanting to continue the campaign.

But it doesn't make me mad (or ANGRY)....it makes me want to get even.

None of us have any idea who will win the overall Popular Vote at this time, but it will be a battle.

Good for BO that he fired his "monster" lady. I hope HC fires a couple of her minnions who can't stay on point.

But i don't have a problem with BO stating that HC is old news.....last century's warrior....a lover of Nafta since her hubby initiated it. Even if it's stretching the truth or wrong, it's hardball & it's up to HC to prove it wrong or render the accusations silly. (Those who think she isn't a 21st Century Warrior has underestimated her.)

But if HC wants to amplify BOs youth (& PERCEIVED in-experience) with a dumb-*ss 3am TV ad that's OK too. (& Frankly guys, Tina Fey & Eva Longoria (& probably the timing of the NAFTAgate dust up) had ALOT more to do with HC's success on Tuesday than that ad.

But more interestingly, if it gets everyone in a tizzy on AirAmerica or elsewhere, that is kind of telling. BUT...I think Obama will come out focused & on point & not emotional (because he's a pro & a quick learner) & we'll have a heck of a race.

But remember:

- If you ask Hillary to concede, she's going to try to beat you.
- If you claim she's playing dirty, she's going to try to beat you.
- If you claim she's playing fair, she's going to try to beat you.
- She'll concede when she is ready to concede, not when she's asked to concede (so if you're going to ask her to concede, you better be dang compelling in your request to make HER ready....& not lose two monster states a week later).

Hound, you were spot on with one exception, under no circumstance will Hillary ever concede anything.... this will go to convention, no matter what.

Oh, and Wolfson should be fired but she negated it saying it wasn't a personal attack.

Don't forget HONESTY.... the most important of them I think...

If the party leadership had any guts, they would be heavily leaning on her to cut the negative nonsense and get out before she did any more damage to the party. But this is the Democratic party we're talking about, along with the Clintons. Why would you expect leadership or strength from either of those groups?

Did I just enter the liberal thread or some parallel universe??

I'm not bashing or starting a debate, just pointing out something I never I thought I would see from the Rev and supported by so many over here.

Carry on.

You learn something new everyday.

Keep in mind, I'm talking about leadership within the party. The most neophyte Democrat is still more of a leader than anybody across the aisle.

Yes - that's what I meant to convey with Transparency (I think if you are transparent in the way you govern by default you will have to be honest).
